Summary
After taking severe wounds at the hands of the French army in Chateau-Thierry, Gilbert was certain he was left for dead on the cold, wet ground. So it was quite a surprise when days later he wakes up to find himself recovering in the home of some French Aristocrat, with the man's son being Gilbert's primary caregiver, as well as the one who saved him from a cold death. Despite Gilbert's reluctance to spend a day longer in enemy territory, trying to venture home in this condition was out of the question. At least the young man aiding his recovery is pleasant company. Very pleasant company.
(I love the "wounded person falls for the person taking care of them and vice-versa" trope. And I'm certain this won't be the only time I use it, especially with these two)
