Secret Rendezvous (not really)

Summary:

She sticks her hands in her pockets, looking around for her partner. It’s busy in the park, and she feels like she’s too obvious. She tugs the collar of her jacket higher, hoping the edges of her suit aren’t too visible.

When she finally spots him, she nearly facepalms. He’s got a red and black spotted beanie pulled over where she knows his accessory ears are, and to cover the top part of his suit, he’s wearing the Ladybug themed sweatshirt that was made a few months ago by the Gabriel brand.

Work Text:

She readjusts the red sunglasses she had grabbed before leaving her room. She’d checked to make sure it had covered her mask, in addition to the oversized jacket she’d made which covered the top half of her costume, and she’d put on a black skirt with tall boots, only leaving a little of her signature red and black spotted suit.

At least his sunglasses were understated, just the same cheap pair she had bought, but in green.

She knows the moment he sees her, with him speeding up slightly. He waves enthusiastically, and she waves back in response, stifling a giggle.

“Hi Chaton.” She whispers when he finally makes it over. Technically, they’re not supposed to be recognizable right now, so most nicknames would be too obvious.

“What a surprise to see you here!” He reaches out, lacing their fingers together.

“You say that like we didn’t agree to meet here.” She swings their hands back and forth as they walk.

“Very good point,” He lifts their interlocked hands, pressing a kiss against her knuckles. Ladybug is sure that her cheeks are almost as red as her mask. “So, where to?”

“I thought we could get coffee, then ice cream?” She starts guiding him toward the direction of one of her favorite cafés, the two of them running through the crowd, weaving in and out of the crowd.

It’s a little crowded, but she finds she doesn’t mind too much. As the two of them wait in line, Chat Noir wraps his arms around her, resting his head forward on her shoulder.

“Do you know what you’re gonna get?” She asks.

“Hmm,” He tilts his head up to look at the board. “I was thinking about getting a latte.”

“Those are pretty good here.” She leans back, enjoying his warmth. He presses a kiss against her cheek, and she lets out a sigh.

“Have any other recommendations for me?” He asks.

“Something tells me you and your sweet tooth wouldn’t like what I drink.” She teases, turning to tap his nose instead of reaching for the bell that she knows lies under the hoodie.

“Very good point, as always my lady.” He whispers the last part in her ear.

—-

They make it out of the café without incident.

Chat Noir suggests they head back to the park to drink their coffees, and she agrees. They walk at a slower pace this time, enjoying the crisp autumn weather. Their hands are entwined once more, and Ladybug feels as though no one looks twice at them.

The pair sits on the edge of a fountain, and she rests her head on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her waist. It’s peaceful, quiet, calming. It makes her feel as though they’re just two normal teenagers, on a normal date.

It’s then that a small kid wanders up to them, her head tilting as it to examine the pair.

“Are you Ladybug and Chat Noir?” She asks, blinking up at them.

Ladybug nearly screams. They cannot have almost made it this without being recognized, only to be noticed now. But Chat Noir leans forward, a grin on his lips.

“We are,” he lowers the sunglasses ever so slightly so the little kid can see his mask. “But we’re undercover right now, so you gotta keep it a secret.”

The little kid nods mutely, making a zipping motion.

“Thanks for your help.” Ladybug smiles at the kid, and then the little kid runs back toward the playground.

“That was a close one.” Her partner moves back into his position.

“Sweet kid though.” She responds, linking her arm with his as they move to stand up. She’s not quite sure when she became so reliant on physical touch with him.

“Unfortunately my lady, I feel like that is a signal to the end of our date.” He eventually says as they walk toward an alleyway.

“Not a fan of our undercover dates?” She laughs, pulling his sunglasses off. He blinks at her.

“I like any date with you.” He brushes his lips against her cheek lightly, and she feels herself blushing again.

“Next patrol could be date night?” She suggests, reaching up to cup his face with the hand that’s not holding his sunglasses.

“I’d like that.” He whispers, and the two lean forward at the same time.

She’s always surprised by how soft his lips are, considering how hers are always chapped. However, she’s come to expect the warmth as he wraps his arms around her waist, tucking her closer against him. She’s come to know the pulse of lighting through her veins as the kiss, the pure magic she feels when they do.

“Next time then.” She slides the glasses back on his face when they finally part.

“No more undercover?” He asks as he tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.

“I think I’m done with that if you are.”
