The One Where Chandler confronts Rachel
A Friends Fan Fiction
Notes This is a short scene I decided to write between Chandler and Rachel after Rachel breaks up with Ross. I love their friendship dynamic and wish it had been featured in more episodes.
After the storm settled between Rachel and Ross Chandler. Joey, Phoebe and Monica tiptoed out of Monica's bedroom to go across the hall to Joey and Chandler's apartment to get some food. Chandler tapped Monica's shoulder. "Hey can you bring me my pajamas? I'm gonna stay here and be sure Rachel's okay."
Monica nodded slowly. "That's a good idea Chandler. I'm really worried about her""
Once Chandler got changed he walked over to the couch and rubbed Rachel's back.
"Hey Rach, it's me Chandler."
Rachel's eyes fluttered open. "Hey. You didn't hear what happened between me and Ross did you?:
Chandler nodded. "We've all been locked in Monica's bedroom for the past day. We're worried about you . Are you okay?"
Rachel shook her head. " No, I'm not."
Chandler gently took his friend's hand. "Let's go to your room and talk about it okay?"
Rachel nodded. "That sounds good."
Once Rachel changed into her pajamas she pulled the covers down and patted a spot on the bed next to her. Chandler sat down and his opened arms to her. "Come here." he whispered.\
Rachel fell into her friend's arms which wrapped her in a strong hug. Her eyes looked down at the bed spread in shame. " What did I do wrong?"
"Hey, look at me okay?"
Rachel raised her tearstained face upward.
"Rach, you did nothing wrong. Chloe took advantage of Ross in a moment of weakness and he should have never gone home with her in the first place."
"I don't deserve this Chandler."
Chandler nodded in agreement. "I couldn't agree with you more."
"Why would he do this to me?"
Chandler sighed. "I don't have an answer for that Rachel I really wish I did. I know how angry you are sweetie. Just let those tears flow okay? he rubbed Rachel's back consolingly.
"I don't plan to forgive him for making that pros and cons list about me and Julie either." she whispered.
Chandler's heart fell to the pit of his stomach. "That wasn't totally his fault. Joey and I egged him on. I'm really sorry that hurt you so much
Rachel's hand reached up and stroked Chandler's cheek gently and then her lips met his in a passionate kiss. " I forgive you Chandler. Don't worry about it honey."
Chandler smiled. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Would you ever date me if you did not end getting back together with Ross?"
Rachel was quiet for a few minutes and then a smile crossed her lips. "I'll think about it." she replied.
Chandler's heart skipped a beat. "Wow, okay great. Do you think you will ever forgive Ross?:"
Rachel shrugged. "I don't know. He really hurt me badly."
"I know baby girl. I know. Everything will be okay. I promise."
"Thanks for being here for me tonight Chandler. I'm so grateful to have a friend like you. I love you so much." Rachel whispered as she laid her head down on Chandler's chest gently br >
Chandler's lips grazed his friend's forehead gently. "I'm always here for you Rachel no matter what. I love you too. Let's get some sleep okay?"
"Okay, good night Chandler." Rachel shut her eyes drifting off to sleep in seconds.
"Good night sweetheart." Chandler whispered. As a cool breeze blew through the window he pulled the covers up around him and Rachel leaned against the pillow and fell asleep. A smile crossed his lips. At that moment he considered asking Rachel to go on a date but he decided to wait a few weeks before doing so.
