Imagine you were actually transported to the past. After dealing with all the shenanigans of time traveling and people who don’t believe you. You finally get them to trust you and you form relationships with these figures from the past.
You get to know Malleus’ parents. You get to meet Malleus’ grandmother before the burdens of history left its effects on her.
You met Baul Zigvolt, and of course, you could tell where Sebek got his interesting qualities from.
Then there’s General Lilia, he was the same from the version you met in Lilia’s dreams, if not a bit more arrogant.
All the same, you met and eventually befriended them. Knowing in time, you will eventually return to your own but at least you’ll have these precious memories with you that you can share.
Imagine one day, you are walking down the castle’s halls with General Lilia. Recounting some events from your time, nothing that would change history of course.
You lovingly recall your loved ones’ faces and how they’ll react when you share your adventures with them. You don’t notice the face General Lilia is making.
You’re smiling fondly to yourself when you were suddenly pulled to a stop.
A hand had grabbed yours.
It was Lilia who had stopped you, not yours exactly at least not yet, but someone who will eventually be yours. The frustrated look on his face surprised you.
“Can’t I also become yours?”
Oh.
The look that you gave him then had his eyes widening, and for an instance, he understood what his future self saw in you. Why he fell in love with you.
“You have always been mine as I have always been yours.”
You watched as the Lilia in front of you simply raised your hand and kissed the finger where your ring sat.
The ring that designated that you were truly and always will be his.
A future that he could look forward to.

“It was something I saw Levan do. It seemed to make Mallenoa giddy and annoying.”
You laughed as the General rolled his eyes.
