Summary
Taking her wine to her bedroom, Gerri snuggled into her sheets and began an internal evaluation. She was overwhelmed. Drained. Fatigued. Bored. Unhappy. Detached, from herself and the things that were supposed to matter the most. She wasn't herself anymore.
But this weekend, with her chance encounters with Roman at the forefront of her heart, she almost felt like she was. It could be a trick of nostalgia, some perversion of memory causing her to reminisce on elements of their history that didn't deserve such recognition. Any involvement with Roman would be a gamble. She would either win big or go home with nothing. At various points in their relationship she'd fluctuated between those two extremes. The agony of being at odds with him was as incredible as the glory of having him on her team. Whatever the outcome might be now, she wanted to find out. If it saved her from the drudgery of her current conditions, however briefly, then it would be time well spent.
One year after the events of the Succession series finale, Gerri's life is in shambles. Reconnecting with Roman might be what she needs to get things back on track.
