Notes:

So I haven't written anything in years, be gentle, I hope you enjoy my incredibly fluffy one shot (Are they still called One Shots?)

Work Text:

Maybe it was your fault for loving mythology, that mixed with a little bit of stupidity… Either way, your love for mythology probably meant nothing to Loki, you had seen him on t.v, watched him be a complete menace to your world.  It might have deepened your love for him... You knew it was wrong, obviously it was wrong, he was the bad guy, but you kind of liked that, not in the 'I can fix him' sense, possibly, more in an incredibly interested in him way; in a way you wanted to know everything about him and how he thinks sort of way. But all of that put together with the god himself standing before you, demanding that you kneel before him, all you could say, without thinking it through, naturally was…

"Yes sir"

Perhaps deep in your sub-conscience you knew he'd want to hear that, or it was the first sign of your brain completely melting away.

Loki smirked at you, you thought he looked slightly disappointed too, though you couldn't be sure.

"Are you serious? He sighed, "Don't you know the history of whom you are kneeling to?"

You said nothing, part of you wanted to giggle at him, he was a little dramatic, but you didn't want to die today.

"Is this the extent of the knowledge in this realm?" His voice strong and loud, you weren't sure why he was talking as if he were talking to a crowd, he wasn't, it was just you and him, alone in your small café.

"I am Loki! God of mischief and tricks. King of the Jotun, Prince of Lies! Kneel and beg for your life, mortal!" He bellowed, stamping his sceptre.

In a bold move on your part, maybe stupid, obviously today wasn't the day of good choices, but you stood up, and looked Loki right in the eyes.

"I know who you are"

Loki only seemed more angry at your words

"Then why do you know beg me? I said KNEEL!" He stamps his sceptre once more.

"Okay, calm down, I'll kneel" You say carefully. Slowly, you knelt onto the ground, not taking your eyes away from his.

He looked slightly surprised, probably at the lack of anger from you, maybe because you listened to him, Loki didn't have the best track record of people actually listening to him.

"You so obediently listened to me, why is that?" Loki asked, his voice not so loud as before.

"I'll happily worship you Loki" You say, feeling a little silly saying it out loud, but it was the truth. He didn't need to know about the stacks of Norse Mythology books in your room, though.

He looked so confused, probably a new feeling for the god, it made your heart flutter the way he faltered, he looked so unsure.

"Why would you do that?" He asked.

"Because Loki" You say, slowly coming off from the floor as you speak

"I don't see you as directly evil, and if you wish for me to serve you, then I shall"  Poor Loki seemed even more confused by your sincerity, honestly you wished you could take a picture, you had confused a god. Not something you do every day.

"But...but...that's not how this works" He stutters "No one has actually willingly worshiped me before, I am the god of mischief, of trickery. I've pranked the gods of every realm! Are you okay!" He asks, looking maybe a little worried for your mental state.

"I am okay thank you" You answered, maybe a little offended "I just like those whom aren't typically liked" You realised how crazy it sounded when you said it aloud, but that's the truth, the baddies, the wallflowers in every book, film or t.v show, they were your favourite.

Loki blinked at you, the look of awe and shock plastered over his face.

"You...like me?" He asked. Smiling at him, you confidently say that, yes, you do like him. Loki was visibly shocked, he even dropped his sceptre, you thought to yourself that maybe he had never had anyone say that they liked him before, truthfully it broke your heart and only made you like him so much more.

"You like me...but I am Loki! The god of mischief! How could anyone like me?! It's not possible!" He ranted, pacing around in front of you, he looked at you like you weren't real, maybe he had reached insanity.

"Loki, I know who you are, and I do like you" You said smiling at him, you wanted him to believe you so badly, if he thought this was a joke, he could easily kill you on the spot.  Loki grabs the chair closest to him and directly sat in front of you.

"I'm so confused right now, I don't even know how to talk to someone who actually likes me... I just don't understand" He looks at you warily,

"I'm...is this a trick? You're trying to trick me, aren't you?" He was almost growling now, you could see the anger in his eyes, slightly scared for your own life. But you tried to look as if you were calm right now.

"I promise you, no tricks" Part of you wanted to reach forward and grab hold of one of his hands, hold him tight, prove to him, he isn't completely hated by everyone.  Loki sighed and rubbed his hands over his face, and looked back at you, another sigh leaves his lips, you couldn't tell if he believed you or not.

"No tricks? So, you mean...you really do like me for who I am? Why? What's likable about me?" He asks, he was staring at you so intently, not even blinking. It made you feel a little stressed, but you had this, you've convinced people they're likable before, and it worked, granted they weren't all powerful gods, but you had this.

"I guess it's because, you know who you are, and you know you're not typically good, and I like that, no falseness" You said, trying to sound completely sincere and not a tiny bit scared. You watched him sigh again, was it truly that hard to believe? It made your heart hurt, poor Loki, you wanted to hug him and protect him, but he probably wouldn't appreciate that. Loki looked utterly floored, he thought it was almost incomprehensible for someone to truly like him for himself.

"But...but...no one has ever said that to me...no one has ever liked who I am. I can't... I can't believe this" He stammered.

"I'm sorry, I can't help it" You admitted. When Loki stood up, you thought he was going to leave, but instead he walked to you, you stood from the chair worried slightly that this was it, the moment you die at the hands of the god you had taken such an interest in. But no, Loki reached forward and gave you a gentle hug.

"I... I...thank you. I don't know...this.... I mean, to have someone actually like me..." He looked as if he still couldn't wrap his head around it.

"It's okay Loki, I'm here for you, I'm Y/N by the way" You giggled slightly and lent into the hug a little bit more.

"You cannot possibly understand. You've changed everything for me with that" He admits, hugging you tighter. You held him close too, not knowing when he last even was hugged. You felt so good making him feel like this, when you picked up your first mythology book many years ago, this definitely didn't come across your mind, but you were so happy it had.

"Thank you" He whispers again into your shoulder.

"Oh Loki it's okay, I love you" You breathed gently, his hair against your face, muffling your voice slightly. You had not realised what you had said, because Loki pulled away, his hands on your shoulders and his eyes looking straight into yours. He looked shocked and confused. How he went from the scary god to this, you were baffled.

"You...love me?" He was obviously stunned by what you had said, truthfully you were too, but you had meant it, just not quite meant for it to leave your lips.

"Yes Loki, I do" Smiling up at him, love was definitely the right word, your favourite books were with him, and you loved watching his face plastered all over the news, despite the evil things he had done.

"No...it can't be...I..." He was speechless, Loki, you had made the god speechless and from the look on his face, that obviously didn't happen often.

"Would you like another hug?" You asked, blushing. What were you doing... this didn't feel real. The world was going on outside, and you were here, with Loki, and it didn't feel real, but you were so happy it was.  Loki nods at you, and gives you the first smile you had seen on his face. You both melted into the hug, holding onto one another.

"I can't believe how suddenly you have made me feel like this Y/N, but I wish for it to never end" He admits, his lips moving ever so slightly against your neck.

"It doesn't have to end, Loki" You whisper back.

Loki pulls away from you again, but he still stands close, Loki smiles and reaches his hands up to hold your face.

"I am a trickster, I have spent my entire existence pranking the gods and the giants. In their eyes, I am a monster and a liar, and cruel" He admits "But with you, I'm not. I don't feel those things with you. I'm not a joke, or a deception. I'm a god...and I am loved"

Loki then reaches forward and gently places a kiss on your lips.

"Thank you Y/N" He says after pulling away.

"You're welcome Loki" You smile, reaching up to kiss him once more.
