Work Text:

this fic is influenced by the piano duet in the corpse bride because i love it more than life :)

The sound of a piano started my wandering through the halls of the Avengers Compound. I was the only one who usually played the piano here, so hearing it was different, exciting. I wandered to the second sitting room, the one with the beautiful white piano. He wasn't facing me, I could tell it was Bucky though, even from behind he was easily recognisable.

He obviously hadn't noticed me, so much for those super soldier reflexes. I understood though, playing the piano could calm someone into full relaxation. He began to play a new song. A song I knew, I couldn't pinpoint exactly how I knew the piece, I stepped forward slowly as he continued playing, the more he played the more I recognised it, it was the piano duet from Corpse Bride. One of my favourite movies.

I slowly sat by him, he still hadn't noticed me, but I began playing Victor's part in the song, Bucky finally noticed me, he jumped a little but smiled at me. I smiled back and carried on playing, the two of us playing the song perfectly together. The song didn't last very song, it wasn't a long song after all.

When he stopped, he smiled again, something I thought I could could really use too. He didn't smile often.

"You know that piece?" He whispers.

"It's one of my favourites," I whisper back, playing the first notes of the piece again. That smile came back, and he played alongside me.

"I'm surprised you know this piece," I say to him, he wasn't as good aas Steve at keeping up with new things.

"I used to love playing the piano, and Steve showed me youtub, and I found this, so I watched the movie and I loved it." He explained.

"It's youtube." I giggle "I love it too, maybe we can watch it together some time?"

I suddenly feel a little nervous, hoping he liked the idea too.

"I'd really like that." He spoke, resting his hand on mine.

Our smiles matched as we began playing the piece again.
