Summary:

After Rory and Logan's first kiss, Logan reflects on what will happen.

Notes:

This story takes place right after Wedding Bell Blues, after Rory and Logan's first kiss. It's Logan's POV

Work Text:

Rory Gilmore. Logan left the wedding thinking of one thing. Rory. His ace. Logan could barely explain what she made him think when they were together. Logan had never met a girl like Rory, who liked reading and school so much. Rory was a beautiful soul that Logan couldn’t explain to anyone. It was like she was living in a world on a different plane than everyone else. Rory Gilmore wasn’t just some innocent doe-eyed thing, though. That was part of it. She wanted Logan as much as Logan wanted her.

Or at least that's what she said.

Logan took his car home from the wedding thinking about kissing Rory. And what else he wanted to do to her. He had a date with Sandra (or was it Sandy) later that night. But he didn’t feel like going. He called and canceled, something he wouldn’t usually do. Usually, he just wouldn’t show up but something made him feel like that was a bad thing. That he wanted to be a nice guy for once.

Instead, he called Finn and Colin to hang out and go to some party. He wanted to tell them everything that had gone down. He wasn't sure how to take it. He didn’t know if he should call her, considering all the people that had yelled at him in the past couple hours.

A woman he thought was her mother, a man who was probably her father, and someone else he couldn’t quite place. He dialed her number four times, but didn’t call. He arrived at the party a little past eleven, and automatically took a drink from a leggy blonde that definitely winked at him.

We walked over to where Finn and Colin were sitting, discussing women.

“That’s what she told me!” Colin exclaimed.

“Hey guys,” Logan said, sitting on the couch next to Finn.

“Ah, Logan. Good to see you,” Finn said, in his distinct Australian accent. Finn had his arms sprawled out on the couch, looking from person to person to find some woman to hit up later. He took a drink from his glass and cleared his throat.

“Colin and I were discussing his latest lady problems.” Finn said. Colin nodded his head. He was laying against the back of the couch, sighing. He had a drink in hand, looking for the easiest way to get a refill.

“She told me that she was twenty-two, but when I asked her friend, she told me she was really thirty-nine. I am fine with older women, but not that old. I mean, she could practically be my mother!”

“Only if she had you at eighteen,” Logan said, his mind going to Rory again, when she told him about her young mother.

“Anyway, I told her I couldn’t see a woman almost double my age, and she threw a fit and left.” Colin leaned forward and stood up.

“Excuse me, gentleman, but I need a refill.” Finn handed Colin his drink to get him another one, also. Finn looked over at Logan and smiled.

“You seem happy.” Finn said.

“I am.” Logan admitted. Finn studied his friend’s face, wondering if it was drinks or women. Two of his best friend’s favorite things.

“Why?” Finn asked, and Logan laughed.

“Rory Gilmore,” Logan admitted. “She and I have decided to do casual dating.” Finn nodded, not entirely sure of who Rory Gilmore was, but happy for his friend.

“Have you slept with her yet?” Finn asked, knowing his friend's tendencies.

“No, not yet. But she was open to it, so maybe soon.” Finn was perplexed. Logan was much happier than usual when he picked up a woman.

“She must be different.” Finn remarked.

“Why do you say that?” Logan asked, almost defensively.

“Well, you're smiling much more than regularly, and you haven’t even slept with her yet.” Finn told him. Logan smiled even more.

“She’s just not…like all the other girls.” Logan said, happy his friend could understand his real feelings.

“Well be careful with her if you want to keep this one.”

“Why?” Logan asked.

“You are the heartbreak prince, Logan. And Rory seems like the kind of girl who wants something stable.” Finn told him.

Heartbreak prince? Logan though.

“She said she wanted something casual.” Logan said.

“Well, Colin’s latest said she was twenty-two, and you know where that went. So, be careful.” Finn said.

“And with that, I need a drink.” He stood up and left Logan alone on the couch. Logan thought for a minute. Was Rory being completely honest about what she wanted? Or was she lying just so she could get Logan? Before he could think too hard about it, the leggy blonde sat down next to him. If she wasn’t being honest, it was her problem. They both agreed to it. Right now, Logan needed a companion.

And Rory needed a real boyfriend, not Logan Huntzberger, heartbreak prince.
