Work Text:
"Did you get married? It looked like you got married."
There was a pause. His Radiancy looked at Cliopher, who saw the mirth bubbling in his eyes. In a moment he would laugh and set it aside - but there was also a glint there of mischief, of the same humor that had led him to cap Cliopher's joke almost a millennium before. He found he didn't want to see that mischief set aside, the inner man settled down, and he hoped his lord could see it in his face, in his eyes. The answering zing, the hint of questioning mischief.
Had he thought more clearly, maybe he would have been better off not encouraging it...but no. No. The joy in his lord's face was worth it.
The well-hidden mischief and less-hidden joy as he said, "Well, not exactly, Sayina Dora. Something more like a handfasting, only until I return from my quest and we both step down...."
Cliopher kept his eyes on his lord, wondering how long he could manage to keep from looking at any of the adults of his family.
