Summary
They’d met the Hoppers two years prior; they’d made their way to the Boston QZ from Indiana, their gaggle of children somehow surviving the trip with them, and Tess had brought Jim, the husband, into their smuggling business after a few months when he’d come to her looking for extra work. A former cop, he knew the FEDRA lingo, and managed to create a network of contacts faster than Tess ever could have imagined.
Joel had spent the first year being ridiculously jealous- Jim was tall and buff and blonde and sported a thick mustache he somehow maintained even at the end of the world, but while Tess found him attractive, he had a wife at home, and she was satisfied with her own cowboy. No need for Joyce’s.
Joyce, however- Tess had a liking for the short, fiery brunette. She was fiercely loyal, incredibly protective of the people she cared for, and so highly frugal she was able to make the tiniest amounts of things go a mile. It impresses Tess beyond belief, how beautiful and kind but also vibrantly intelligent Joyce was.
