Just A Scratch

Summary:

Chester gets injured while filming and Parker brushes it off.

-------

“Parker.” He said with a sudden urgency in his voice, praying that his partner would understand he wasn’t acting anymore.

Dammit.

“No, Parker seriously cut the cameras.”

Work Text:

Chester could feel the blood trickle down his leg before he felt the sting in his upper calf.

“Parker.” He said with a sudden urgency in his voice, praying that his partner would understand he wasn’t acting anymore.

“Chester, come on! We need to get out of here.”

Dammit.

“No, Parker seriously cut the cameras.”

Parker drops the act instantly.

“What the fuck? God dammit Chester I told you to stop bitching about everything.”

Chester flinches, but pretends otherwise. He’s not sure why but he feels guilty for it. Parker loves him, of course he has no reason to feel hurt. He’s just tired, and who’s to blame him? Chester is tired too. Chester is always tired nowadays. This is probably his fault anyways. He knows he has been keeping his boyfriend up as well.

“I-I got cut. I’m bleeding.”

Parker crouches momentarily next to him, just barely glancing at the cut.

“It’s just a scratch. You’re fine.” Parker sighs, before angling the camera towards the shorter man’s calf. Business as usual in his mind.

“We can splice the footage together, let’s just keep rolling. You’re fine.”

Chester isn’t fine though. He knows the cut has gone at least half an inch through his flesh. He also knows that he’s bleeding. A lot.

“It’s not just a scratch. It hurts.”

“I said you’re fine. We aren’t doing another take.”

Chester stares at his shoes. He knows he’s not fine but he can’t help but agree with Parker. He doesn’t want to be a nuisance.

He just nods, and Parker smiles at him. He tries to feel better about it, but the more he ponders it the worse he feels. As they’re driving back home he can’t help but remember the promise the dark haired man had made him.

“I’ll never let anyone else hurt you, love.”

But he had. His leg had caught on the stupid monster costume and he was still bleeding out, thirty six minutes later.

Parker had promised. He had promised him. That he wasn’t going to let anything bad happen to him, and Chester had bought it. Despite it all, he knew he was going to believe him next time as well.
