Chapter Text
He is lying flat on the road, he doesn't remember how long he's been there. All he can feel is the heat from the road radiating to his body and sweat all over his back. The sun is too bright that he couldn't even open his eyes fully.
He tries to get up and lifts his body sideways, a sharp pain on his side makes him roll back again. Lifts his head to check on his side , he can see it's bleeding, not much. May be his stitches are torn.
He lays there like that and tries to think of what had happened. Yes, few teenagers hit his head in the back and knocked him out while he was trying to get in his car and also took his car. Touches his head for blood but thankfully it's not bleeding, only knocked unconscious. He really doesn't remember how long he has been unconscious.
He slowly gets up from the road and looks around, it's deserted. Why did he even come here? He holds on to his side which is still paining and walks to the near bench under the tree. Only good thing that happened to him is that he can now sit under the tree.
He feels more dehydrated and sweating more, finally picks up his phone and calls his partner.
"McGarrett"
You know what? You can see my name in the caller id , Danny says (of course wasting his energy for silly rants)
Steve is in the governor's office and waiting for the meeting to get over. They made him wait for more than two hours and he is running out of his patience now . Danny's little rant makes him smile.
What is it now Danny? Did you meet with the witness?
Witness? Ok, so he must have come here to talk to the witness.. He is too thirsty and his mind got diverted that he forgot that he was in call with Steve. His phone is dropped from his hand and he feels more dizzy. Tries to rest his head on the back of the bench but his dizziness took over and passed out again on the bench.
Danny? Danny? Steve looks over at his phone, call is still connected but no response from Danny .
Hey you there? Danny?. He walks to the secretary and asked her to call Chin. Steve still online with Danny and talks to Chin.
Chin, find out Danny's location and send me the coordinates.
What's wrong? He went to meet the witness. Anything wrong?
I don't know Chin, got a call from him but he is not responding now.
Chin can feel that Steve is anxious and he quickly checks on Danny's location and finds it strange. "It's strange.."
What's wrong chin?
His mobile and car location is different, his car is still on the move but mobile location is only few miles from witness house.
Send me his mobile location Chin.
Sent it, do you want me to check over?
No, you follow his car and I will go to Danny
Is the meeting with governor is over?
No, am on my way to Danny.

Steve is driving fast to Danny's location thinking all sort of things. Was Danny shot , should he have been with Danny.
Danny's line is still on but he's responding to him at all..
Danny is waking up again and slowly sits back.. His head is pounding too hard and the pain in his side is getting worse. It's not bleeding, there's only few blood spots on his shirt. Searches for his mobile and finds it on the ground.
Slowly picks up and talks again
"You know if the caller id shows my name, you should say hello Danny"
Steve hits hard on the break hearing Danny's voice. Danny!! Hey Danny!!
Don't shout! I can hear you animal.
Steve takes a long breath, huh.. are you alright?
Am I alright? No Steve, I am not alright. I don't know why people call this island a paradise? Paradise should not be this hot.
Steve is almost reaching Danny's location, he can see Danny sitting on the bench with his hands lifted in the air , shaking his head and talking.
Steve smiles and says, it's common sense not to wear full sleeves and ties on this island Danny.
Steve thinks Danny had a little heat stroke, stops his car and comes out with water bottle.
Here! Drink this.
Danny looks up to find Steve beside him, he didn't even notice when Steve reached. Slowly drinks the water.
So are you planning on telling me anytime what happened to the car?
It's stolen, some crazy teenage guys knocked me and took the car.
Steve jumps up from the bench and says, what?? Stolen? How can you let them do this Danny?
Danny lifts his pounding head and looks at Steve who is angry and walking back and forth. Why are you yelling at me?
I am not yelling Danny, am just angry, you know that's my favourite car!
Wait! Wait! You are angry because I lost my car? MY CAR!!
You know what Danny, you always do this Danny!
I do this? Danny is raising his voice now (using all his energy again to win his conversation) I understand you got upset when you lost your car but why are you reacting like this for my car?
You are hurting my feelings again Danny, you know how much I like that car!
I am hurting your feelings? First of all, you are driving my car all the time.

Second of all, you are having feelings for MY CAR!!! Why are you having feelings for my car Steve?
You are doing it again Danny
I am doing it again? Danny raises his voice and hand again before he said anything else he falls sideways on the bench and passed out again, one hand falls limp to the ground.
Steve's heart skipped a beat seeing Danny just falling unconscious right in the middle of the conversation.
Danny! Danny!.. He touches Danny's cheeks to wake him but Danny is not responding. Steve lifts him up and holds him, sprays water to his face, Danny open your eyes buddy, he keeps shaking Danny gently.
Danny opens his eyes, finds himself resting on Steve's chest.
Open your mouth Danny, have some water buddy. Danny takes few sips and rests his head back on Steve.
You are having feelings for my car? You know I won't hurt your feelings Steve.
Steve wants to say but you always do.. but he stops himself and looks worriedly at Danny. Have few more sips Danno! He gently removes Danny's tie, opens few buttons from his shirt.
Danny drinks few more sips and lays back. Steve gently brushes the hair from Danny's face. Can you walk Danno?
No response
Danno?
Danny nods his head slowly and tries to get up from the bench and sways, Steve holds him tight and helps him walk to the car. He settles him in the passenger seat, he opens few more buttons on Danny's shirt and gets back to driver's seat and starts the car on high speed.
You okay there Danny? We'll just get you checked out for concussions ok? Keep talking to me ok?
Danny just nods and grumbles, you said you will give money if I stopped talking?
Steve laughs, he hit on the accelerator and it's on high speed. He is worried that Danny is not even complaining.
I said that didn't I ? Now I will give you money if you keep talking
Danny giggles, oh you have.. and Danny falls front and passed out again. His seat belt is holding him and his body is tilted towards Steve.
Steve is shocked to see Danny passing out again, he knows it could only be a concussion but it aches his heart to see it again and again.
Steve gently moves Danny's head to the head rester, one hand holding on to Danny and he kept driving....
