100 Ways to Brutalize Your Best Friend, Worst Enemy, and Immortal Rival

Summary:

A collection of Mokou and Kaguya fights.

This isn’t abandoned. Expect an update eventually.

Chapter 1: Foreword

Chapter Text

I would like to begin by saying this will never be finished.

I kind of stole this idea from “100 Ways Not to Die in Gensokyo by Mokou” by NonoTheNormal, I just didn’t like the execution so I made this. This kind of thing has probably been done many times before though.

Each chapter will involve Kaguya, Mokou, and one or both of them dying at least once. That is all that will remain consistent. Chapters are typically unconnected and may not even be in chronological order. I may, however, have some chapters that tie into each other. Depends on where I feel like going with this.

As for abilities, I have chosen to interpret them in specific ways. The following paragraphs are total nerd shit, TL;DR at bottom.

The way I headcanon it, most abilities in Touhou feed off of your physical stamina and sap you of it the more you use them.

Mokou can primarily manipulate fire, but she can also create it. She is unable to destroy it. For manipulating fire, this means moving the very energy that’s being released to really wherever she wants. She usually does accompanying hand gestures, however those are optional. The “creating fire” part is much weaker than her manipulation, yet it’s still formidable. She’s able to create a unique flammable gas that burns at a similar temperature to firewood and ignite it on command. It’s actually quite similar to carbon monoxide. The further she’s creating it, the more of her energy it saps to actually do so. If she focuses, she can change properties of any fire (but it’s most easy when it’s her own fire) such as its color or temperature. This is rarely useful and more of a party trick than anything.

Kaguya’s ability is still really confusing to me, so I interpret it as follows. Her ability to manipulate the eternal lets her lock onto a specific “thing”, be it a concept or tangible object. Whatever she has locked on to, she can effectively freeze its properties and make it unable to be affected by any sort of outside force. She could make a door eternal, preventing someone from opening it. She could make food eternal, so it doesn’t spoil (but you wouldn’t be able to digest or chew on it either). It’s sort of like freezing something in time. Because this ability protects something against ‘forces’, it stresses Kaguya’s body and mind to fight back against these forces. The ability is weak to two things. The first being overwhelming amounts of force, for example trying to stop the rotation of a planet. The second is force that’s closely tied to the will of a human being. Let’s say you want to open a door. The force that’s closest to your very will is the thought of opening that door. Next would be the signal sent to your muscles. Next would be the actual movement of the muscles. Next would be the rotation of the doorknob. Et cetera, et cetera. The further down the line you go, the more difficulty this force would have disturbing something made eternal by Kaguya. The inverse is also true, with making things such as the human brain eternal are outright impossible for Kaguya. At her peak, she can make the muscles in a body eternal to physically restrain someone.

As for the part about manipulating the instantaneous, I like to think about it as if there is a timeline with a little dot on it for the ‘instant’ of something. The instant her heart beats, the instant she blinks next. She can slightly move around these instants so something will happen slightly later, or slightly sooner. She still doesn’t have very much control over these, but she can make it so events such as a punch landing happen slightly sooner or later. This does give her slight future sight, but it’s vague (as in she doesn’t really know what specific points correspond to if they’re not something she’s entirely sure will happen) and she can’t see too far ahead. I probably won’t use this instant manipulation part much unless I come up with a clever or effective use.

TL;DR - Mokou can move around fire, and make it. She can’t destroy it. Kaguya can freeze stuff in time, but she struggles to freeze stuff that’s being acted upon by humans. She can also make stuff happen sooner or later, which is really only good for throwing off your opponent or doing something fast.

Also they’re gay. Kind of. I dunno. Chapter 1 describes it better.
