A welcome visit from a stranger

Summary:

MK and Nuwa have a small talk about family and it’s all happy no angst!!

Work Text:

MK stared up at the woman who’s face was shaded with a dark shadowy void obstructing her eyes, and despite how the endless void all around the two of them lit up every tiny crevice her eyes were still covered. MK wondered if they were golden in color, a happy reminder of his mentor, those thoughts made him smile.
Just a small smile, nothing too notable—despite that fact, the woman who gracefully floated in front of him too gave MK a soft and almost motherly smile in return.
She was decorated in a long flow-y outfit with gold accents, it was what MK could’ve imagined a goddess to look like, honestly he had half a mind to believe that’s what she was. But those little details didn’t matter too much right about now, just something that noodle delivery boy took note of.
The brunet haired boy didn’t quite understand why but despite not knowing this woman, this stranger, he felt safe and warm—every part of his body felt like it was being engulfed in a hug worth remembering for centuries. And despite the silence it didn’t feel uncomfortable, nor did it make MK feel like he had to speak to ease some tension in the air, some small part of him wanted to stay here for the rest of his life to avoid the issues outside of this place. But MK knew deep down that wasn’t possible despite his fruitless wishes.
His lips seemed to part ever so slightly as he blew an audible breath of air from them as though to bring the spotlight on himself, hands shoving themselves in his pockets simultaneously.
“So uh..” MK couldn’t help but start whilst his eyes wandered over towards the unnamed woman, a hint of nervousness in his tone, he felt like he was some little, shy kid going up to his parent to ask them if he could buy something at a store, “are you supposed to be my… mom?” He questioned whilst awkwardly pulling his gaze back down as he awaited a response patiently.
“No,” the woman replied, but not in a necessarily mean way in fact it was quite the opposite, her body seemed to move closer to the boy’s and MK couldn’t help but notice how much taller she was, he would’ve cursed his genetics mentally but he doubted that this woman’s height was very natural, she even had to lean down just a smidge and even so MK still had to look up, “I am not your mother, MK. I do hope this doesn’t disappoint you, I understand your want for a family of your own like so many of your friends have.”
Her words felt like the literal vocalization of honey, sweet and smooth, and that slightly sympathetic smile she adorned made him feel all giddy inside.
Out MK’s throat escaped a sort of ‘ah’ noise that came from the back of said body part whilst he began brushing his hand over his neck bashfully, “well yeah, I guess I did. But if I’m gonna be completely honest… I think I’ve already found my family.” MK let himself give a lopsided grin, pausing for a short moment only to continue speaking on the topic, “and I’ve got plenty of it too.”
The brunet seemed proud of his answer, grinning like a little kid who just won a race. But his expression was cut short in replacement for a more neutral yet surprised look once he felt a warm palm press against his cheek, it was her hand, and MK spent little time before he pressed his face into it, rubbing his nose against the skin and shutting his eyes. MK had always liked affection, whether it be given or received, he didn’t care what it was, he still loved it.
The woman let out a soft titter in response as she watched MK lean into her touch, smiling proudly at him, she was proud of the boy like so many others were. “They are good people, you know, I’d suggest keeping them close.”
Said boy could only nod, having nothing to say, but despite his silence that simple up and down movement of his head was oh so genuine and she knew it well.
MK didn’t know how long he just stood there with his face buried into the unnamed woman’s hand in pure silence, but each and every second that passed he savored it with all his heart, he presumed around ten minutes alone had passed—not once did he or she get bored of it, not a single thought of it came to mind.
Although, all good things have to come to an end, do they not?
“MK, dear.” She caught his attention, causing his eyes to open gently, fluttering for a moment or two before he returned his gaze back up to her face awaiting her to speak, “our time is unfortunately up, I do wish I could speak to you more but unfortunately I am unable at the moment.”
MK felt his expression sadden just a smidge and he pulled himself away from her hand reluctantly, he was understanding of the situation, and it wasn’t as though it was the end of the world anyway. “Thank you.” MK mumbled just above a whisper.
She smiled at him, MK could imagine the corners of her eyes as they crinkled with the smile despite not being able to see them. Slowly she stood to her full height only after giving an equally gentle, “of course.”
And just as everything started to fade to a blinding white in color, a name came to MK’s mind as if someone directly put it there themselves, someone he had not known for long at all yet felt oh so comfortable around.
That name was Nuwa.
