Chapter Text
Dean woke up from his nap feeling gross. He was hot, sticky, and wet. He didn't want to be woken up by this feeling, especially when his daddy wasn't there to make it better, and it was dark on top of it all. But what made Dean giggle, he realized, was that his eyes were still shut. Silly Dean. Opening his eyes, however, did little to improve his already crummy mood. He really was alone. But it wasn't nighttime, so this made Dean upset. The last thing he remembered was playing with his daddy and puppy Winnie after lunch. Had he fallen asleep that quickly? Before giving it any thought, he cried for his daddy.
Sam was in the middle of cleaning the mess his boy made during lunch when he heard the baby monitor roar to life, signaling that the boy who made said mess was finally awake after his two-hour nap. "Daddy will be up to get you in a minute, baby boy."
Before putting the dish towel he was using to dry the seemingly three thousand dishes, he frowned as the doorbell rang. He wasn't expecting anyone. Was he?
Drying his hands, Sam made his way to the front door, the frown on his face instantly melting away as he noticed Julia Spencer. Julia was Dean's nurse the entire time he was in the hospital after the accident. When Dean was discharged, he suddenly became very upset about never seeing his favorite nurse again. So, both she and Sam had devised a plan.
Julia had become a staple in the Winchester household. She had visited the "two-year-old" now and again, albeit after texting Sam to ask if it was alright to stop by.
But right now, Julia was standing at the front door with a container of homemade chocolate chip cookies, waiting patiently for the door to be answered. Sam's smile made her heart swell. She hadn't realized she had started falling for the taller Winchester. However, she would never admit it because doing so could jeopardize their friendship and her relationship with Dean.
Sam smiled as he greeted the short (she was 5'8", but according to Sam, that was short as he stood at 6'4") blonde. He found her cerulean blue eyes mesmerizing; each time he looked at her, he was close to drooling like an over-excited golden retriever. "Hey Jules." He blushed madly, being in love himself.
"Hey, Sammy." Julia had grown fond of using the childhood nickname that Dean would use before the accident. Sam usually hated being called that, but he didn't seem to mind one bit with her.
"What's with the cookies?" Sam asked as he grabbed the container from her and put it on the kitchen table.
"Oh my god, Sam, please tell me you didn't forget what today is!" She stared at him with wide eyes.
"Um...no?" Sam hesitated. He truly didn't know that today was a special day at all. Was it supposed to be?
"Is it my birthday?" Sam asked as he looked at the calendar on the far wall in the hallway.
"No, Sammy, it's been a year since you became Dean's daddy." Julia sighed sadly, knowing Sam subconsciously knew, but he never made a big deal of anniversaries. She didn't know why, but she didn't need to.
"Wait, seriously?" Sam asked as he looked at the calendar again, suddenly feeling like shit. How had he not remembered?
Julia smiled sympathetically. "I'm sure Dean didn't know either Sammy. He knows that you're his daddy. And being his daddy is the greatest thing you can ever be."
