Work Text:
He didn’t know who he was the first time he saw him, and he wouldn’t for years to come. His eyes would be as cold and unwavering as before, his hair would never lose its luster, and the infinite beauty of the Vidhiyadra would never disappear. With time, everything fades away, and so will he, and he had no issue doing so, but once you fall into the trap, that lust that rises in your throat, that bubbling desire to live forever, you can no longer go back. And he knew that he would curse him for an eternity, for the dead soul he made him, the empty husk of a human, wandering the lands with no peace in mind, just the free longing of death to wrap him up at last. He was a nobody, a mortal amongst gods, yet they chose him, and yet he loved all of them, but one remained his beloved, and not even time could make that go away.
“We will find our way back to each other, once I’ve died, and so have you, centuries later, in the afterlife that can hold our souls together, for I will wait there forevermore for you, Yinyue, if a place like that does exist.”
