Irritation huffs out of her as she turns her head toward him, glowering. “I could leave you behind,” she pronounces, “because right now, you’re only slowing me down.” She moves them forward another large forceful step, deliberately digging her fingers into his jacket just over where she knows he’d been hit. “If you don’t want that, then I’d suggest you shut your fucking mouth.”
The fact that, under his arched brow, she swears there’s a brief flicker of something like faint amusement on his face in response to that, quirking his mouth and lighting up in his eyes, does nothing to improve her opinion.
