Crushing

Summary:

Glenn Winthrop fell in love with the hot drama teacher, but doesn't think Amos could ever feel the same. Until, Troy, being the dumbass he is, accidentally sets them up.

Work Text:

"Hey Brah. Wassup broski?" Troy sat down beside Glenn as he rolled his eyes at his friends obnoxious straight vocabulary. "What are you looking at?" He quickly looked away.
"Nothing. I'm not looking at anything. You're looking at something!" He accused. Troy raised his eyebrows, skeptical. He looked down, noticing the blush on his friend's face. He made a light gasping sound.
"You have a crush!" Troy accused. Glenn sputtered and quickly shook his head. To make it less convincing, he's about as red as a firetruck. "Yes you dooooo~!" He teased, while Glenn loudly shushed him.
"Tell me. Or, how do you say it in queer... Spill the coffee?" Glenn sighed.
"You have to PROMISE not to tell anyone." Glenn held his pinky up. Troy put his hand out, grabbing the whole hand and roughly shaking it. "So... You know the drama teacher?"
Troy lit up, looking at him with sparkles in his eyes. "Oh my god, it's Amos, isn't it?!" Amos snapped his head up from the conversation with his student after hearing his name. Glenn blushed when they made eye contact.
"What was that?" He said. Glenn could've died of a heart attack on the spot.
"Oh, sorry dude. We were just talking about how much of a swag poggers teacher you are, helping your students outside of class!" He smiles, as he thumbs up at him. Amos awkwardly smiles.
"Uhm. Okay." He goes back to talking with Devon. Glenn would take the chance to admire him, if he wasn't incredibly embarrassed.
"Dude! What the hell!" He loudly whispered. Troy looked towards him.
"I'm sorry! I panicked!" He put his hands up in surrender, also embarrassed by the awkwardness of the situation.
Glenn groaned and threw his head back. "He's gonna think we're creeps now."
"Bro, it's not like he's never talked to you. Remember when he went up to you and told you how good you did in Joan, Still?" Troy gasped. "Maybe he's into you too!"
"Just because an openly gay guy made eye contact with me, it doesn't mean he wants to get in my pants. Plus, he probably didn't even know I existed before that."
Troy rolls his eyes. "Whatever. Oh, also, can you help me with this week's expenses? I don't understand taxes."
~~~
Glenn stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked out at the lake. It was rather cold out for summer, but it was 7PM. He was kinda cold, but it was bearable. He smiled, feeling content.
"Glenn!" He froze. He could recognize that angelic voice from anywhere. It did make him slightly warmer, but he was fucked. He slowly turned around, making eye contact with Amos. The taller quickly jumped over the gate, and walked over to Glenn.
"Heyyyyyy... Amos." Amos smiled, stopping a few feet in front of Glenn. His hair looked softer than normal. Or, was it usually that soft? Maybe it was-
"Troy told me you needed to talk?" What the fuck, Troy.
"No, uhm, actually I didn't, well, want to see you- Wait shit. I, uhm. I didn't ask to see you, I didn't mean it as in I don't want to see you but just I didn't ask for it... So..." He awkwardly chuckled.
Amos didn't seem to be paying attention anyway. He's too focused on the fact Glenn isn't wearing a sweater. "How are you not freezing your ass off?! It's like 40° out here!"
Glenn looked down, noticing he is, in fact, not wearing a jacket. "Err... I guess I'm a little cold?"
"Here. Take this. I'm wearing a long sleeve anyway." He says, after taking off his jacket and handing it to Glenn, who was probably warm enough to heat himself up at the action.
He takes it, after croaking out a small 'thank you', receiving a nod in return.
"So, uhm, if you don't have anything to say, I have something if that's alright?" He was acting shy. That is not normal for Amos. Amos is the kind of guy who loudly voices his opinion, not standing down for anything.
"Uhm, go for it?" Glenn says, or more so questions.
"Alright, so, uhm, I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime? Like, on a picnic or something?" Glenn was definitely not expecting that, of all things. His crush, a hot, loud, ambitious drama teacher asking him out, a maybe hot, quiet, pessimistic tech nerd? This was definitely not real.
"I mean, only if you want to, that is..." Amos anxiously waited. Glenn snaps his head up, losing his train of thought.
"Yes! Uh, I mean... Yea. Sure. Whatever." Glenn tries to be chill, but is really giddy inside.
"Alright... Cool, uhm, I have to go now, I have to... do, uhm, a thing."
"Yeah, uh, have fun with your thing." Glenn called out as Amos walked away. Once he was gone, he turned back to look at the lake, and smelt the jacket. Sure, maybe, just maybe, it was a weird thing to do. Maybe it was slightly creepy. But, honestly? Glenn couldn't care less. His crush just asked him out.
The jacket smelt like dirt, kind of. Maybe a little sweat mixed in? But it also smelt like flowers. It smelt like laying in a rose field with your true love. It smelt like a warm summer day, with two people walking on a shore, fingers laced. It smelt like nights of staying up late and telling childhood stories.
It smelt like home.
