"Are you coming, Poppy?" Pippa asked as she ran into her Poppy's office.
Phil looked up from his well-worn copy of Peggy Carter's Autobiography grateful that Clint had Tony duplicated his office down to his memorabilia and book and record collection. Clint had told him when he thanked him that he thought it would help Pippa know him.
"Poppy, we have to go to the kitchen now," Pippa said.
Phil put his bookmark into his book, closed his recliner and used his cane to struggle out of his chair.
"Do you need me to get you help, Poppy?" Pippa asked.
Phil looked at his daughter and his heart ached. "I'm okay," Phil said.
"Poppy," Pippa said, "it's okay to need help."
"Run into the kitchen and get your Daddy," Phil said.
'It'll take too long, Poppy," Pippa said.
"Isn't he just in the kitchen?" Phil asked.
"He's in the big kitchen," Pippa said. "We're late."
"I thought he was starting Thanksgiving dinner for tomorrow, " Phil said.
"He's making pies in the big kitchen," Pippa said. "We're going to be late."
"Late for what?" Phil asked.
"Cooking." Pippa said.
"We're having Thanksgiving with the team?" Phil asked.
"Poppy," Pippa said. "We love each other. We're a family."
"Jarvis," Phil said. "Is there anybody close by?"
"Captain Rogers hasn't left for the kitchen yet," Jarvis said. "He's still in his apartment."
"J," Pippa said. "Pees ask Uncle Steeb to come down," Pippa said.
"Of course," Jarvis said.
"I sorry, Poppy," Pippa said. "If I were big I'd help you up."
Phil held his arms out to his little girl and hugged her.
"Poppy, you squishing me," Pippa said.
"Is everything okay?" Steve asked, entering the office. "Jarvis let me in."
'Poppy needs help up, Uncle Steeb," Pippa said. "I not big enough."
"Are you sure I won't hurt you?" Steve asked.
Tony walked into the office and was about to make a smart ass comment, but then assessed the situation and said, "Cap, get on Phil's left side and take his arm."
Cap did as Tony had instructed as Tony got on the opposite side and the teammates helped Phil out of his chair.
Pippa got her Poppy's cane and handed it to him.
Phil took his cane from his little girl and felt defeated. "I think I'll just stay here," Phil said.
"No, Poppy," Pippa said.
Clint stuck his head into Phil's office and asked, "What's up?"
"Poppy doesn't' want to come," Pippa said as she stuck out her bottom lip.
"Don't worry, baby," Clint said. "Your Poppy will be coming. Your Uncle Steve will help you get your art bag and your Uncle Tony will help me bring your Poppy. "
"Okay," Pippa said, taking her Uncle Steeb's hand, pulling him out of the office and toward her room.
Looking at his husband with the resting face that usually sent people in the opposite direction, Clint said, "You will not disappoint our little girl. Got me?"
"I've got you," Phil said.
