Because We Understand Each Other Part 3

Chapter Text

2 Weeks Later…

It was Saturday morning at Bakugo’s apartment. He was making pancakes as usual, while Khana was getting dressed. Usually, they would watch movies and relax, but today, Khana was getting ready to go get coffee with her new friend Ami. The speaker on her phone blasted Daydreaming by Harry Styles while she added more pink Sailor Moon blush. The blush matched with her pink cotton short sleeve dress that came down to her knees, and her pink Converse.

After she finished her makeup, Khana sprayed her high ponytail with hairspray and put on her favorite necklace that had a gold chain and the letter K on it. She grabbed her tan tote bag and headed to the kitchen.

“Oh my gosh! It smells so good in here, babe!”

“Of course! I used oat milk in the pancakes so they’re going to be extra sweet!”

“Oh nice!”

“Just like you.” he said while smiling at her.

“Aw! You’re too much. Oh, crap! I forgot my headband!”

While Khana was getting her matching headband, Bakugo saw that her phone was ringing on the kitchen counter. On the lock screen, it said Dad, and continued to vibrate, making the phone in its light pink glitter covered case move in a circle on the counter. He picked it up and locked the screen, sending the call to voicemail on Kyran’s end.

When Khana came back she had her headband on, and an extra layer of clear lip gloss. She looked up to her boyfriend after seeing that her phone was turned upside down.

“What did you do?”

“Hm?”

“Babe?”

“I didn’t do anything.”

Khana raised her eyebrow at him, suspiciously.

“What? I’m just cooking.”

“Liar.”

“Hehe, ok.”

She then grabbed some fruit from the fruit bowl that was in the middle of the counter and filled a plate that was taken back to the table. She munched on strawberries and kiwi as she texted Ami to confirm the details for their hangout. She kept glancing at her boyfriend between messages.

Why did he flip my phone upside down? Did he think I wouldn’t see that dad called? That is both sweet and sneaky at the same time.

Khana stood in front of him, with her hand on the counter and the other holding her phone in his face.

“Babe!”

“Hm?”

“What is this?”

“A glitter covered phone?”

“No! You know what I’m talking about! My dad called and you didn’t want me to see because…?”

“Because…you were all excited about making a new friend, and I didn’t want your shit head of a dad to ruin it for you.”

“Babe, I know that you care so much about me, and while that is very sweet, I am a big girl. I can handle the occasional call from my very awkward dad. I’ll just ignore it and move on.”

“You sure?”

“Yes! I’m fine! Ok?”

“Ok.”

“Now, don’t have too much fun without me. Be sure to save some pancakes for when I get back later.”

Khana kissed him on the cheek and grabbed her purse. As she headed outside, she couldn’t help but look at the notification that said missed call with the word Dad next to it.

Should I? No. I shouldn’t. I mean I’m definitely still mad at them.

No. I’m not going to. Why am I even thinking about this? Let’s just forget about my terrible parents and act as if he didn’t even call.
