There were few things she loved more than the feeling of Rainbow’s face pressed against her chest. She felt so at peace, resting under the shadow of one of her trees with no one but her partner to keep her company. She wished she could spend the rest of her life right there.
But the world wouldn’t stop just for them, no matter how much she wished it did.
“Dash,” she called to her girlfriend, gently shaking her. “I gotta go. Got things to do.”
The pegasus didn't respond. Applejack frowned.
“Dash,” she repeated, louder this time. “Darn it, move.”
Rainbow Dash shifted a bit but still made no attempts to remove herself. Instead, she groaned.
“Do I have to?”
“ ‘fraid so." Applejack smiled sympathetically. “Can’t move if you don’t do it first, sugar cube.”
“Do you have to?”
Applejack rolled her eyes.
“What’d you think? Get off me.” Without waiting for a reply or any sort of acknowledgment, Applejack effortlessly shoved her girlfriend to the side. Rainbow Dash yelped.
“Hey! That’s not fair.”
Before Applejack had a chance to stand up, Rainbow threw herself on top of her again. Irritated, the earth pony groaned.
“I swear to Celestia, Rainbow, if you don’t- Ah!”
Before she could finish her sentence, she felt teeth sinking into her neck. "Hey! What’s that for?"
"I’m not moving," Rainbow stated, and Applejack could hear the challenge in her voice. She sighed. She should have known Rainbow wouldn't let her have things the easy way.
That was fine. The hard way was always the fun one.
“Are you sure?” As she said this, she slid her hooves below Rainbow’s wings, right on the spot where she knew she was ticklish. The pegasus gasped and Applejack felt the way her body started to tense up. She grinned.
“I said I’m not moving.”
But there was only so much Rainbow Dash could bear, and the more Applejack tickled her skin the more she started to squirm. Applejack could hear her stifling her laughter.
Another bite landed on Applejack’s neck, this one harsher. Applejack groaned.
“Hey! Let go, that hurts.”
Rainbow didn’t listen, and no matter how much Applejack tried to wiggle out of her grip, her teeth remained in place. Applejack sighed, irritated, and deciding she’d finally had enough of her partner’s games, she used all her strength to roll on top of her. Rainbow let out a surprised squeak when she found herself pressed against the grass.
“Gotcha.” Applejack grinned. Then, she playfully nibbled Rainbow’s ear. The pegasus shivered at the touch. “That’s for biting me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I got things to do.”
Rainbow pouted, but she begrudgingly accepted her defeat and didn’t try fighting back this time. “I'll miss you, AJ.”
Applejack chuckled.
“You’re being more dramatic than Rarity. We can hang out again tomorrow, alright? “ She leaned down and kissed her girlfriend on her forehead. “Never dated a mare this needy.”
Rainbow blushed at the teasing.
“Whatever.”
As much as Applejack would love to continue embarrassing her partner, she did have commitments to attend to. She got off her partner and then offered a hoof to help her stand. “See you tomorrow, sugar cube?”
“See you tomorrow, cowgirl.”
The pegasus flew away and Applejack watched her until she wasn’t in her line of sight anymore. She sighed, walking back towards her farm. She felt a little ridiculous for the longing in her chest, but what could she do? She was in love, after all.
