Trina's New Bae

Summary:

Trina teams up with a college friend to teach their mothers a lesson

Notes:

I started working on this last weekend...before the two horrible episodes that we had to suffer through. I was on the fence about continuing...but after what I did in my last story, I thought some laughter and humor was well deserved and yeah, got some wholesome revenge on Portia without hurting anyone. Especially my petty prince. He's alive and well in this one! I promise! lol

Hope you guys enjoy and will help the pain my last fic caused and soothe the anger over today's episode. Freaking Portia...grr...

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was a sunny day in Port Charles, but Trina found herself feeling down and out. She and Spencer had decided to keep their relationship on the down low because of Trina’s mother. At first, Trina was ok with it, but the more she thought about it, the more she resented it. Why must she be miserable so her mother could be happy? Her mother was acting like Spencer was some mumble rapper or some thug off the street. It was infuriating to her.

Entering Kelly's, Trina was pleased to see two good friends of hers, Trey and Kelly. They were another IR couple that she and Spencer had begun hanging out with recently. Trina found that she had a lot in common with the couple and even though they weren't Joss and Cam, she and Spencer still had a lot of fun with them.

“Trey! Kelly!” Trina waved, approaching the table. She frowned at the downcast looks on their faces. “Hey, what’s up with you two? You look miserable.”

Kelly sighed and looked sadly at Trey. "I met Trey's mother last night. To say that it did not go well…"

“Oh my god, what happened?” Trina sat down in one of the seats.

"I didn't tell my mom she was white. My mom is one of those women that think that white women are stealing black men from black women. She totally went off on me and called Kelly all kinds of names. I am so embarrassed," Trey sighed. "She wants me to break it off with Kelly and find a decent black girl to date."

Trina frowned. “That is so stupid. Why would you listen to her? If you love Kelly, you should be with her.” Says the girl that decided to keep her own relationship on the down low to please her mother. “Not that I have much room to talk, I suppose.”

“What’s going on with you, Trina? I haven’t seen you and Spencer around in a while,” Kelly sighed, deciding to push her own problems to the back of her mind, at least for a few minutes.

Trina winced. “Well...my mother kind of hates Spencer…”

“Because he’s white? What is it…” Trey began.

"No. Not because he's white...but because he's a Cassadine...and he's related to Sonny Corinthos. It's like everything bad that's ever happened, she wants to lay it on Spencer's feet and it's ridiculous. The worse part is...I let her get to me. Spencer and I decided to keep our relationship on the low key for a while so we won’t stress my mother…”

“What?! Trina…”

"I know, I know. It seemed like a good idea at the time...but the more I think about it...the angrier I get. I mean...is it so wrong for me to want to be happy? Is it so wrong to want the support and comfort of my boyfriend with all that is happening? It's not fair! She doesn't even want me to be happy at all!" Trina ranted, then sighed, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry. You two are going through it and here I am, ranting about my situation. What are you two going to do? Kelly, what do your parents think?"

“They love Trey, of course. There’s no issue there. But if it’s going to cause too much trouble in Trey’s life and mess things up with his mother...maybe it is best if we break up.”

Trina winced. Kelly was sounding like her, ready to give up the one she loves for someone else’s comfort. “Girl...you and I need to get a grip. We have to stop this sacrificing our love for someone else.”

“I hear you,” Kelly sighed, taking a sip of her milkshake.

Suddenly Trey’s eyes lit up with an idea. “Listen, before you shoot me down, hear me out. I have a brilliant idea!”

“Oh no,” Kelly groaned.

“What?!”

“Every time you have a brilliant idea, it’s something that’s going to land us all in some trouble of some kind or make things worse,” Kelly gave an amused chuckle.

“Just hear me out, will you? This will probably help both mine and Trina’s situation with our disapproving parents.”

“Ok, I’m willing to listen. What’s your idea?” Trina asked, just as Spencer came in, carrying baby Ace.

“Speak of the devil. Spencer should be in on this too,” Trey smirked. “Spencer! Hey man, come join us!”

Spencer’s face lit up when he saw Trina and made his way over. “Hey, I wasn’t expecting to see you here! How’s everything?”

“Curtis is home...and I kind of moved back in to help for a bit, at least until school starts back up,” Trina smiled as Spencer got himself and Ace settled. “You have Ace duty again?”

“Yeah. Esme’s at work and the daycare had to close early. So I picked up the little guy and checked in to see if they still have BLT’s now that Joss’s mom is in charge,” Spencer chuckled leaning in for a chaste kiss. “Glad to hear that Curtis is home. So what’s going on here?”

“Trina was telling us about your disapproving parent situation and we shared our situation with Trey’s mom. Trey came up with one of his brilliant ideas to solve the problem. Mind you, his brilliant ideas usually go wrong,” Kelly warned.

“This one won’t! It can’t! Just hear me out!”

“Alright, alright Trey. What is this idea of yours?”

“Ok. Trina’s mom hates Spencer because he’s a Cassadine, right? What if you dated someone that was far more worse than a Cassadine...like say...someone like...Jay-Z or...Offset? My mom doesn’t want me with Kelly because she’s white and wants to see me with a black girl...what if I started dating someone like...Cardi-B or Meg the Stallion? Someone that meets their criteria, but when compared to our real partners are far far worse?”

“How do you plan to execute this?” Kelly asked with an arched brow, not sure about this at all.

“Actually, Meg the Stallion is a College graduate and...I know, I know. Not the point,” Trina sighed, sitting back in her chair. “But yeah, how do you mean to execute this?”

Trey grinned, thinking that this was the best idea he’s ever had. “Trina and I do some role play. We pretend to break up with you Kelly and you Spencer...and we pretend to date each other!”

“And how is that supposed to help us?” Spencer asked, not really liking this idea.

"Well, we won't be...us. We won't be ourselves. Trina will pretend to be this rachet, Cardi wannabe who not only disrespects me but my momma as well. I'll pretend to be this gang-banging rapper wannabe who only knows how to call his girl the b and h words and also disrespects her momma, as well as her. I'll make Prince Cassadine here look like Prince Charming for sure! She'll be begging for Trina to get back with you after I'm done and if Trina does her job right, my mom will beg Kelly to become part of the family."

Spencer and Kelly stared at Trey and then burst into laughter.

Trina frowned, feeling insulted. “What? You don’t think I can pull something like that off?”

Spencer chuckled, placing a hand on Trina’s. “Sweetie, you are the most classiest, sweetest, politest person that I have ever known! You don’t even cross the street on the wrong light…and as for cursing, I have never even heard you break out the f word.”

Trina pursed her lips angrily. “So? That doesn’t mean that I can’t do what Trey needs to be done! I’m not some little Miss. Goody Two Shoes Spencer!”

Spencer winced, resisting the urge to tell her that she kind of was. “I know that…”

“Well then, why so little faith? I think Trey’s idea is a good one. If I start dating someone like Trey described, my mom will quickly get over her dislike of you.”

“Yeah, and my mom will get over her issues as well if I’m dating a Cardi wannabe,” Trey nodded.

Spencer frowned, not really liking this idea of Trina dating someone else, even if it was pretending. "I don't know…"

“Yeah, I mean...this can go wrong in so many ways. I mean...does it really matter what your parents think?”

“No, not really. But we all know what a pain parents can be when they don’t like our choices. It’s to get them off our backs,” Trey pointed out. “Come on, it’s not like Trina and I would actually fall for each other.”

"Yeah, Trey is cute and all but I'm totally into Spencer. We've been...flirting for two years, I had to deal with his psycho ex...I deserve to have a happy relationship with him. I'm not about to give it up after all we've been through. Besides, after all the lies my mother has told, she has no room to judge anyone," Trina ranted her anger with her mother growing. "Besides, she deserves the terror that is about to be inflicted."

“And my mom has to get over her outdated ideas. Love is love. Either she can be happy for me or not, this is me giving her a chance to course correct,” Trey argued his case.

Kelly and Spencer looked at each other and nodded. "Fine. We're in. Do what you will. We'll be waiting on the outskirts."

Trina and Trey smiled at each other, their plan only beginning to take shape.

“Let the games begin.”

“By the way, Kelly, Spencer...if you see Joss...I love her, but she can’t keep a secret. So, if she sees you, Spencer and I are no more,” Trina warned, realizing that Joss will have questions if she’s seen “dating” Trey.

“Oh, right. Joss has to be kept in the dark...which means she’ll probably blame me for the break up...but I’ll bear it,” Spencer sighed.

“Sure thing. That is if I even run into her. Joss and I don’t really run in the same circles,” Kelly chuckled.

Trina's smile was a little guilty because even though she loved Joss, she wanted new friends that weren't a part of Joss and that's how she and Spencer had formed this quad with Kelly and Trey. It made her sad that she couldn't do the couple thing with Joss because Spencer and Joss's boyfriend don't get along, but it was what it was and besides, there were things that she and Spencer experienced that Joss would never understand, but Kelly and Trey would.

“So let’s plan out the meet the parents dates,” Trey rubbed his hands together, looking forward to sitting this plan in motion.

…..

Trina insisted that she meet Trey's mother first. She just felt that she had something to prove since everyone thought she was so goody-goody and couldn't possibly pull off a bad-girl act. She had gone shopping on her way home from Kelly's and brought a few outfits. She called it her Trineesha garb. That was the name she decided to give her alter ego to better be able to pull this off. She wanted to be someone completely different from who she was. Plus she didn’t want word to get back to her mother and Curtis, and Taggert that their beloved Trina was wilding out.

She had stopped at one of the cheaper stores and brought a pair of blue jeans that were basically too tight for her, a pair of knee-high boots, and a plain pink shirt that was one size too little and had a v-neck that showed some cleavage. To top off the look she wore bright blue eye shadow, bright red lipstick, and wore some press-on nails that were three inches too long.

“Trina?” Joss appeared in the doorway, looking at her in shock. “What is going on? Does Spencer know you’re going out like that?”

“Spencer and I broke up. I’m going out with a new man. His name is Trey,” Trina smirked, inwardly hating to lie, but there was no choice.

“You’re going out like that?”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing! Nothing’s wrong...it’s just that...that’s not your usual style,” Joss winced. “You kind of look like...someone off The Bad Girl’s Club…”

Trina couldn’t help but smirk. “Really? That’s kind of what I’m going for. Trey is...well...he likes girls who wear things like this. I’m hoping to impress him.”

Joss just stared at Trina in shock. She couldn’t believe that her friend was actually going to go out dressed like she was. “Maybe you should talk things over with Spencer...I’m sure that things can be worked out between you two…”

"Nope. Unfortunately, it's over. Spencer is out, and Trey is in. Well, I'm off. See ya!" Trina waved, leaving Joss staring after her in shock.

…..

Trey stared at Trina in shock when she arrived at the restaurant where they were to meet his mother.

“Trina? Damn, girl, I don’t even recognize you!” Trey gasped.

"Just call me Trineeshia," Trina giggled. "Joss caught me in this get-up. She thinks that I've lost my marbles."

“You look great! My mom is going to be horrified!”

“Let’s just hope that my mom doesn’t show up. The last thing we need is for her to catch me dressed like this while you remain Mr. Straight-Laced.”

“Gotcha,” Trey chuckled. “Come on. Let’s get this over with. Mom is in there now waiting for us. You should have seen how excited she was when I told her I had a new girlfriend that I wanted to introduce her to.”

“Well, let’s introduce her to every mother’s nightmare. Ms. Trineeshia Robinson.”

Trey’s mother was sitting at a table for four, sipping on a glass of water while she waited. Trey wrapped a possessive arm around Trina’s waist and lead her over to the table. “Mom, we’re here!”

Trey’s mother looked up with a bright smile, but that smile faded when she saw Trina. “Oh...hello…?”

“Mom, allow me to introduce Trineeshia Robinson! We met at Charlie’s the other day. Isn’t she gorgeous? I took one look at her and knew that you were right. Kelly wasn’t for me. But Trineeshia is.”

"So you're Trey's momma! Hi, how are you doing? I'm Trey's future baby momma! I just know that we're going to get along!" Trina smiled happily.

"Trey?" the middle-aged woman looked at her son with an arched brow.

"Isn't she beautiful, Mom? You were so right. I needed a black queen and here she is!"

"Oh, you're so funny!" Trina laughed. "Isn't he funny? I love a Kang with a sense of humor!"

“So Trina…,” The woman sputtered.

Both Trina and Trey froze right then, but Trina quickly recovered.

“Treneeshia! The name Trina is so fucking corny!”

“Pardon me?”

"I mean...only white girls are named Trina, right?" Trina rolled her eyes, inwardly apologizing to her mom. "I'm not no fucking wannabe!"

“Oh..um...anyway, so Trineeshia...tell me about yourself. What are your goals for the future? Where do you see yourself in five years?”

"Oh, that's simple! My number one goal is to be Trey's bitch and be his number one baby momma! In fact in five years...I see myself on our tenth baby. We're getting started on that tonight, aren't we baby?" Trina giggled, scooting closer to Trey and running her fingers through his hair.

"That's right! Isn't she wonderful, Mom?"

"What career are you interested in?" the poor woman tried to steer the conversation away from the subject of babies.

"Oh! I want to be a stripper or a hoe at a top gentleman's club! Nothing is more important than the bag! The bag and my Kang!"

“Stripper? A hoe?” Trey’s mother stared.

“Yes. Make that money, you know? Of course, Trey is going to be ballen, so money is not going to be a problem, so I may not have to take up stripping after all...but if he falls down, well, the pole awaits!”

Trey’s mother’s eyes widened in horror at this and both Trey and Trina had to bite back their laughter.

Trey leaned in and whispered. “Up the ante. Disrespectful time…”

Trina cleared her throat and leaned forward, eyeing Trey's mother speculatively. "So, what kind of bitch were you back in the day? Did the n*ggas treat you right?"

“Pardon me?!” Trey’s mother gasped, her outrage apparent.

"I mean, Trey is a good n*gga, going to school to be a doctor. We are gonna be ballin'! So why didn't you get yourself a good n*gga too? What was Trey's daddy like? Was he not a good n*gga?"

“Young lady, I don’t know how you were raised or how your parents taught you how to speak to adults and elders, we do not use that kind of language! Trey!”

Trey and Trina looked at each other and laughed. "Oh my god! Trey, you didn't tell me that your mom was one of those bougie bitches! N*gga! You gotta be tripping!"

"I can't believe this...Trey, I'm sorry. But this is not it! This girl is not for you! She's too….ghetto! We are not that kind of people! We can't even bring her to family functions with the way she acts and talks and look at what she's wearing...oh my god!"

“Mom!” Trey exclaimed in fake outrage. “You can’t say that! You didn’t like Kelly, told me to find a black girl and I did and you’re still not happy?!”

“I was wrong. I admit, I was wrong about Kelly. If you can, get her back. But I don’t want to see this...person ever again! Triwona…”

“Trineesha,” Trina made a face and began picking at one of the long fingernails.

“Whatever! It was not nice to meet you! I hope you clean up your act before it’s too late! And stay the hell away from my son!”

Trey and Trina watched Trey’s mother get up and storm off in a huff and then broke down into complete laughter.

“Oh my god!” Trina giggled. “I did it!”

"You were brilliant! I recorded it so we can show Spencer that you can wild out if you want to!" Trey laughed.

“Send it to his phone. He’ll need a laugh after having to deal with Excrement.”

“Huh?” Trey frowned.

“I mean Esme. That was just one of the nicknames I have for her in my head,” Trina smirked, giving a small shrug.

“You are indeed a bad bad girl, Ms. Robinson,” Trey laughed, sending the video to Spencer.

……

Now it was Portia’s turn. Trina returned to Joss’s house and quickly returned to her normal garb. All traces of Trineesha were gone. She had set up a meeting with her mother at the Metrocourt. She hoped that Trey had changed and was ready to put on an act of his lifetime. She so looked forward to seeing her mother’s face when she came in with her new boo.

Putting on a pretty blue sundress and making sure that her hair was beautifully flowing down her back and over her shoulders, Trina headed out to meet her mom and introduce her to her new man.

Trina walked into the metrocourt and her heart sank as she saw Spencer sitting there across from his Uncle Sonny. She frowned and took out her phone and began to text.

…...

What the hell, Spencer? What are you doing here?! Trey and my mom will be here at any moment!

…..

My Uncle Sonny wanted to meet with me. I couldn’t refuse him. Don’t worry about me, I won’t even talk to you.

…..

Just keep your distance or this plan will fail.

…..

Alright, Trineesha.

…..

Shut up!

“What is he doing here?” Portia came up to stand behind Trina. “We can go somewhere else if you want?”

Trina sighed and rolled her eyes before turning to face her mother. "It's alright, Mom. This is a public place. It's expected that we'll be running into each other every now and then. Come. I have a table set up. Trey will be here at any moment. I can't wait until you meet him."

“I can’t wait to meet him. Tell me about him,” Portia followed Trina to a table that was sitting against a far wall.

“Well, for one, he’s so silly! He makes me laugh! I just love the way he talks to me and the way he looks...well he’s one handsome man. Even more so than Spencer, I suppose.”

“That’s good. What kind of family is he from?”

“Modest. He’s not rich or anything.”

"Yo Sonny Corinthos! That's my dawg!" Trey exclaimed, walking into the restaurant with his hands up in the air in greeting. He wore baggy jeans that showed all of his boxers, a black t-shirt that said I heart rap music, a black do-rag on his head, and a pair of large sunglasses. A gold chain hung from his neck and when he smiled, there were two gold teeth in his mouth that hadn't been there before.

“Oh my god, there he is,” Trina got to her feet and watched Trey approach Spencer’s table and grab Sonny’s hand in an enthusiastic handshake. Sonny looked stunned and Spencer looked like he was going to pass out if he didn’t start laughing soon.

“Sonny Corinthos, I can’t believe I get to meet my idol man! You are the GANGSTER!”

“Oh my god, I’ll be right back,” Trina rushed over and pulled Trey away, whispering in his ear. “What are you doing?”

“You said your mom didn’t like Sonny Corinthos. What better than a guy that idolizes him?”

“Baby, what are you doing? Get over here and meet my momma! Oh my goodness! I’m sorry, Mr. Corinthos. He gets overly excited when he meets his idols,” Trina apologized before pulling Trey away.

“You know him?” Sonny looked at Spencer who simply shrugged. “I’ll explain later.”

Back at Trina's table, Portia looked at who she thought was Trina's boyfriend with a stunned expression.

“Mom, may I introduce Trey Reynolds. Trey, this is my momma, Dr. Portia Robinson,” Trina smiled, linking hands with Trey.

“Woowee! Your momma is a fine bitch! Must run in the family. Mmmph!” Trey looked Portia up and down hungrily. “Nice to know what my bitch will look like when she gets older, huh?”

"What did you call me and my daughter?" Portia frowned.

"Oh Mom, calm down. That's just the way Trey talks. He doesn't mean anything by it," Trina pulled a chair out for Trey and motioned for him to set. "After you, baby."

“Now that’s what I like. A bitch that knows how to treat her kang!” Trey smirked.

The frown on Portia’s face looked like it could become permanent if she wasn’t careful. “So Trey. Tell me about yourself. Where are you from? What do you plan for your future? What are your intentions towards my daughter?”

“Mom!”

“All viable questions, honey,” Portia forced a smile.

“I’m from the ghetto of course! Where else would I be from? Plans for the future...to hit it big on my music. Of course, I plan to settle down and marry a few bitches and impregnate a few more. If things go to plan, Trina will be my first baby momma!”

“Oh Trey,” Trina rolled her eyes and shook her head. “He’s kidding.”

“The hell I’m not, bitch! We discussed this! I’m going to be the next Nick Cannon!”

"Where does this leave my daughter? She has a future you, know. She's meant to be more than your baby's momma."

“Oh of course. She’s gonna be my main bitch of course! I plan to have ten or twelve.”

“Ok, that’s it,” Portia threw down her napkin.

“Mom?” Trina frowned, pretending not to understand while Portia was suddenly upset.

“Trina, I’m sorry. I cannot approve of...this!” Portia waved her arms towards Trey, who just sat back and grinned, flashing his gold tooth.

"What are you bitching about now, momma? Ain't I gangster enough for you? Or do you want me to be all corny-like?"

"Trina, rethink your choices, please. There's Spencer. I'm sure that you two can work out your differences, but this Trey person is not it."

“Mom!”

“I can’t stomach this anymore. I’ll see you at home,” Portia got out of her chair. She approached Spencer’s table first.

“Ms. Robinson?” Spencer greeted with an arched brow.

“I know what I said to you. I was wrong. Please work things out with my daughter,” was all Portia said before marching out the door, leaving a giggling Trina and Trey.

"You were terrifying!" Trina laughed. "I thought my mom was going to faint from the horror of it all!"

“Hey, I wasn’t as good as you were, Trineesha!” Trey chuckled.

Spencer approached looking amused. His meeting with his Uncle was over and he had watched the whole thing with bated breath. "I think your mom likes me now."

“Mission accomplished!” Trina and Trey gave each other a high five.

“So how about I order us three a dessert to celebrate?” Spencer offered, feeling in a good mood now that he had Trina’s mom’s approval, which had been impossible to get without Trey’s help.

“How about I call up Kelly and she can join us?” Trey offered.

Trina’s eyes widened as Kelly came in followed by Trey’s mom. “Or how about Spencer and Trineesha make tracks, because here comes your mom and Kelly.”

The trio watched in stunned horror as Kelly and Trey's mom approached.

It was Trey’s mom who spoke first. “Trey! What in the hell are you wearing?! I thought you and Kelly were back together and is that Trineesha?!”

"Mom! I can explain...I heard Trineesha was dating Spencer Cassadine after I dumped her, so I was curious and found her like...this! This garb was just to impress her. But Trineesha is right. We weren't right for each other and her discussion with you made her see the wrong path she was heading down, so she cleaned up and scored herself a rich boyfriend. How about that. I didn't have to wear this after all. Kind of embarrassing."

“Really Trey?” Kelly arched a brow, playing along.

"Really, babe. I've come to my senses. Oh and Trineesha, this is my girl Kelly."

"Hi, Kelly. Just call me Trina," Trina smiled, giving Trey a playful wink. "Spencer was just about to give me a ride in his new car. We'll see you guys around."

Trina quickly pulled Spencer away from the table and out of the restaurant.

“That was close,” She breathed, leaning against his car.

“You really gave that woman a heart attack, huh?” Spencer laughed, leaning next to her.

Trina shrugged. “So much for little miss goody two shoes, huh?”

“Okay, okay. I saw the video. You can be bad when you want to,” Spencer chuckled.

“Well, at least we got my mom out of the way. Now...shall we let Esme meet Trineesha? Yes or no?”

Spencer laughed and gave her a short kiss. “I say yes.”

“Let’s go. Trineesha needs to put a bitch in her place over her Kang!”

Laughing, the couple got into Spencer’s car and was off, glad that the obstacle of Portia was no more.

Notes:

I really wish I had made Trey even worse for Portia after today's episode, but I had run out of steam...she got lucky.
