Very carefully, and very purposefully, Nishiki keeps his expression neutral. He will not rise to the bait. He will not defend himself, because that’s giving away information, and he will not correct the story, because that’s also giving away information.

How they started dating is banal enough. It’s the lead up to it that’s the issue.
If it’d been something as comparatively respectable as running into each other at a leather club and hitting it off, that would have been less embarrassing. He might have been willing to admit to that. Not to Majima, but to some currently non-existent, hypothetical person who wanted to know.
