Work Text:
Dazai had asked Oda if he could have Chuuya and Chiharu over for a sleepover, and the man had reached out to the two executives, to see if it was okay. They didn’t mind, as long as their sons came back as they left, and that Dazai didn’t attempt to make them do anything illegal. Both still in school, and not in need of a criminal record so young.
He promised that they’d just be hanging out, but both adults were skeptical, and asked Oda to make sure they didn’t get into trouble. They should have asked him to make sure Dazai didn’t drive them insane.
—
Chuuya and Chiharu had been over for about an hour.
In that time, Dazai had shown off his room, which had barely anything in it. Got them to leave their stuff there, and then dragged them out to go and cause a bit of chaos.
Dazai had been gathering supplies for pranks, and was finally ready to release all of them, with some help. Which was why they were leaving the small house with several bags full of prank equipment. Going to where their first victims would be.
The flags were out on some missions for the day, so, they were getting pranked. Chuuya just wanted to see their surprised faces, and horror, so he set up some cameras in hidden locations.
“Alright, Chiharu, you set up the trip wire, Chuuya, you’re on camera and bucket placing duty, and I am going to connect the trip wire to the bucket,” Dazai exclaimed, running around the small shop.
It was easy enough getting things set up, with Chuuya floating up to where the plastic bucket sat in wait. Filling each with a mix of water and a gelatinous paint. Then, he carefully floated down, and exited to join his fellow pranksters outside.
“They’re going to be vengeful after this,” Chuuya chuckled, looking back towards the building.
“That’s not a big problem, the real vengeful ones will be Ango after my plan for him,” Dazai joked, skipping along.
Chiharu decided to ask what that meant, “Why is Ango going to be vengeful?”
The brunette’s smirk grew, “We’ll be replacing all his coffee with crushed up, crusty old clay, and his sugar with salt, and his shampoo, with bleach, for hair.”
“We’re going to get murdered for this,” Chiharu muttered, fearful of how his life would end due to pranks.
“It’ll be fine, Ango doesn’t get very mad anyway,” he brushed it off.
Breaking into Ango’s apartment, they set everything up, with Dazai worrying the coffee replacement didn’t look realistic enough. Then they slipped out before he could get home and catch them. Returning to Oda’s to set up a final prank.
It was the most tame of the pranks, putting the spiciest hot sauce they could find in his lunch. Chuuya and Chiharu put a bit of the sauce on their tongues in curiosity, and had many regrets, when it felt like it was burning through their flesh. Dazai just laughed in amusement, until two fists connected with his stomach.
He didn’t find it quite as funny as he groaned in pain, and rolled over on the floor. Deciding he was done with pranks for the day.
Getting up from the floor, he asked the twins to join him in playing video games, which was how Oda found them when he returned home. Chuuya in the middle, with Dazai leaning his head onto the shorter teen’s shoulder. Watching how he was desperately trying to beat the high score.
“You’re so pretty when you concentrate,” Dazai complimented, and Chuuya’s face lit up.
He ended up losing due to the distraction, “That was sabotage!”
Turning away from the almost angry gaze, Dazai noticed Oda had returned, “Odasaku! Welcome back.”
“Mackerel, pay attention to me! You can’t just cheat like that,” Chuuya complained, no longer flustered by the comment.
Chiharu ended up having to keep his brother from picking a fight, “Chuuya, calm down. He’s just messing with you.”
He knew that wasn’t the full truth, as the only one so far to have noticed the love struck look Dazai wore when Chuuya wasn’t paying attention. Not pointing it out was hard, but he’d accepted that they were just pinning idiots. Seeing Chuuya calm down, Chiharu knew he wouldn’t have to use his ability to keep his brother out of trouble.
“You kids should be getting to bed soon. Sorry about being late, work help me up,” Oda apologized, as monotone as ever.
“It’s fine, we can entertain ourselves just fine!” Dazai confidently told him.
The man sighed, “Alright, it doesn’t seem like anything bad has happened. So, just have fun, and don’t get into trouble.”
Instantly, the twins pitied Oda for having to put up with Dazai all the time. Luckily, Chuuya’s anger had faded, and he yawned, realizing how tired he was getting. At that moment, the three of them decided to go brush their teeth, and figure out sleeping arrangements.
Only one could go smoothly.
“Dazai, what do you mean that one of us has to sleep in your bed, while the other takes the strange mound of blankets?” Chuuya was barely holding back from skinning the younger boy alive.
“I thought it’d be fine, since I’ve invaded your bed before, and it wasn’t a big deal,” Dazai was far too calm for the risk to his safety.
His comment made Chuuya blush a bit, before making a decision, “I’ll sleep next to you, so Chiharu doesn’t need to be next to a stinky mackerel.”
A smile graced the brunette’s face, as he dragged the ginger down, “Great, let’s cuddle!”
“NO!” a panicked scream was set free from the older twin, before he landed on top of Dazai.
He quickly rolled off, and tried to pretend he wasn’t excited to cuddle with someone who wasn’t family. A rare taste of a different type of relationship. Maybe he wanted to pursue one sooner rather than later.
“Let’s just sleep, so we can do stuff in the morning before we have to go,” Chuuya gave up, and rolled over to hold Dazai.
Chiharu rolled his eyes and settled into his sleeping spot.
It didn’t take long for the three teens to fall asleep, tired from the chaos they spread. With Dazai peacefully sleeping, face pressed into Chuuya’s chest. Listening to his heartbeat.
