Work Text:
On most days Giyuu would wake up to the smell of scrambled eggs and bacon from the kitchen, on most days he would still feel the residue warmth of his beloved on their shared bed, on most days it was Sanemi waking up before him. To see the white haired man sleeping peacefully in the early morning hours was a rather rare sight to him.
The older one was delighted since it wasn’t everyday that Giyuu could surprise his boyfriend with breakfast in bed. Quickly he got up from the bed and strolled downstairs into their kitchen to start his little mission. At least for him it would be a mission since the raven haired was terrible at cooking. It wasn’t uneatable or anything but it was easier for their stomaches and taste buds if Sanemi took on the job of cooking.
When he started to crack the eggs the first mistake already happened. Typical beginner mistake, shell in the pan.Giyuu isn’t dumb, he quickly fishes them out with his chopsticks before adding some seasoning and milk to scramble them the right way. After a while he got the hang of it having used half the package since the first ones burned down.
As he put the toast in the toaster he started to fry some bacon. Much to his surprise the bacon didn’t share the same fate as his first trial of eggs. They seemed good. At least he hoped they are as he tried to assemble everything on a plate to walk back into the bedroom and surprise Sanemi.
When he got back he saw the white haired male face flat on his pillow, quiet snores being the only sound to be heard in the bedroom.
„Sanemi. Breakfast is ready.“
Despite being together for oh so long Giyuu still felt his heart skip a beat everytime he got to see Sanemi wake up in the morning. The way the sun would shine against his pretty face, making him look even more handsome than he already was. A little nervous for Sanemi’s reaction to the breakfast that Giyuu just placed in front of a half-asleep Sanemi, Giyuu sat next to him to watch him.
Slowly the oldest Shinazugawa sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes to gaze at the heartwarming meal in front of him. He was so used to taking care of others that his heart would always clench so tightly when Giyuu did those small but meaningful things.
In the beginning of their relationship it was mostly Sanemi doing things for the both of them since he insisted on it, saying stuff like it’s his only way to show affection. After a while Giyuu seemed to pick up on those small habits and started to help Sanemi out in the household and even surprising him with small gestures himself.
Since the raven haired wasn’t big on words of affirmation either. He liked to show his appreciation and affection through physical touch or even gifts like his selfmade ohagis or beetle themed socks he got Sanemi last christmas. To which the younger one would attempt to hide how touched he actually was that Giyuu remembered his favorite animal.
But now that they have been in a stable and long relationship for a while things like I miss you, I wish to see you soon or even I love you weren’t so rare anymore but nonetheless just as special as the first time they both confessed at the same time when the new year arrived and they had spent almost an entire year together. Both of them thinking the other didn’t hear him because of the fireworks just to see they both were beet red because of the awkward double confession.
Coming back to the current events in the present, Sanemi was a little flushed when he looked up and saw how Giyuu avoided his gaze. Almost as if he was shy. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes and gesture him to sit close next to him.
„To think I’d oversleep that much that you had to make us breakfast.“
He snorted before thanking his lover with a gentle peck against his forehead. As he finally tried the food he couldn’t help but be surprised. He may love Giyuu and all of his imperfections (in his eyes there were none). But cooking was never one of his strengths.
„Wow. Not only is it eatable but it’s really damn good, Yuu.“
Much to his surprise Giyuu actually smiled at him. A smile that never failed to make Sanemi fall over and over again for him. The smile that he promised to cherish until the day he dies. The same smile that will one day greet him at the altar when he has the courage to ask him that one question he has been meaning to do for a long time.
But that’s a thought for a different day. He carefully put the tray to the side and cupped the other’s face.
„Keep that up and I will marry you so you always bring me breakfast into bed, hm?“
It was meant to be a simple joke, a little tease even. But Giyuu being the simple guy he was, nodded. He nodded and leaned forward to press his forehead against Sanemi’s.
„If you are happy with a husband like me, I will serve you breakfast every single day until we both grow old and wrinkly.“
Giyuu was always so unpredictable to him. When he got to know Giyuu he learned how the boy never seemed to have a filter on what he said. But not like Sanemi who would be brash on occasions. No, he just spoke his mind without a second thought. Oh, how Sanemi adored him.
„Yeah, one day I will officially make you my husband.“
