Collision

Summary:

Hua Cheng and Sesshomaru have a rather unpleasant encounter. They part with the hopes of not meeting each other again, but their respective spouses have other plans.

Work Text:

He twisted the throttle of his motorcycle even though he was already going at a dangerous speed. He wasn't in a rush—or maybe he was. Getting home to his gege was always more important than any other business. Except 'gege' was not the reason for such a delusional acceleration, not this time, not the whole reason.

Hua Cheng had a big ego, one that could be easily provoked by the most tiny little remark he disliked; the dude in front of him constantly blocking his way sure did his thing.

How did this nobody dare to prevent him from riding wherever he wanted? At the speed he wanted?

If he had had a little bit more sense, Hua Cheng would've known it wasn't the peasant's fault but the traffic's.

The only solution was to confront him, surely, to show him who was the boss. So naturally, he tried to outrun the vehicle the moment he had the chance.

If it had been any other 'nobody', then the matter would've died. Little did Hua-Hua know that Sesshomaru was used to having things his way. And if he didn't have a problem with him before, the moment Hua Cheng almost made him fall from his motorcycle sealed the Chinese’s doomed destiny.

The pair got immersed in a ridiculously dangerous—more ridiculous than dangerous—speed race.

Both of them accelerated as if there was no tomorrow... until a dumpster got in the way.

Both vehicles crashed, along with their owners. Who weren't badly hurt.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Hua Cheng yelled, taking his helmet off and facing his enemy.

"Me? You are the looney who went full speed! You almost got me killed!" Sesshomaru replied, lifting his fist, ready to punch the lousy pirate in front of him.

"C'mon! Punch me if you dare, grandpa!"

"Who are you calling 'grandpa', you... low-budget pirate?!"

"That's it!"

Hua Cheng rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight. They were about to start beating each other when Sesshomaru's phone rang.

He immediately stepped back as his opponent looked at him, confused.

"Yes?... Yes, I'm on my way. It's just... I encountered a crazy Blackbeard cosplayer."

Hua Cheng gasped, a little offended by the insinuation.

"What do you mean by 'don't kill him'? Do you... do you think I'm capable of that? ... Inuyasha is stupid! Don't take his word for granted!"

Hua Cheng took a look at his wrist watch; if he didn't hurry, gege would get worried.

"Sure, I'll be right there, love... Love you too. Bye." Sesshomaru hung up his phone and gave Hua Cheng a threatening stare. "This won't stay like this, you hear me? Today you got lucky, but next time I'll wring your neck!" he stated, pointing to the Chinese with his index finger.

Both men took their motorcycles, whose damage was minimal, and left the scene.

"Gege! I'm here!" Hua Cheng announced proudly at the door.

"Did you get lost?" Xie Lian shouted from the bedroom as he came out, buttoning his shirt.

Hua Cheng chuckled. "Pfff... no way!"

He gave a look at his husband; that white shirt fitted him so well. "You look handsome, gege. Going somewhere?"

Xie Lian grinned adorably. "Yes, actually. And you too."

"Mmm... I think we can change our plans..." Hua Cheng said cheekily, surrounding Xie Lian by the waist. He began to leave quick and soft kisses on his husband's neck. His perfume mixed with his soft skin took him beyond reasoning.

"Hua-Hua..." Xie Lian whispered, grabbing his husband's hands.

Just when Hua-Hua thought he had won, Xie Lian pushed him back.

"We can finish this when we return. But tonight we need to go out."

"Why?!" the other complained childishly.

"Well, I met someone today at work. She is such a nice person, and she is funny too. We are going to meet for dinner."

"You changed me for... a woman?"

Xie Lian laughed at his husband's response. "No, silly! She's married too! We are going on a double date!"

Hua Cheng sighed and put on a grumpy face. "I wanna stay home, gege," he pouted.

"Just this time, okay?" Xie Lian approached his husband, caressing his hair and cheeks. That always worked in his favor. "And if you behave... we can..." he proceeded to whisper to his partner every single thing he intended to do when they returned home.

Xie Lian's breath and words shivered him down his spine. How could he resist such a man?

"Alright, just this time."

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian arrived at a very nice restaurant. It was not as elegant as Hua Cheng liked it, but it was a decent place, in his opinion.

When the concierge asked the couple how many people were joining them, Xie Lian extended his neck like a turtle to see if his friend had already arrived.

"Xie Lian!" a short, beautiful lady shouted from a table by the window. "Over here!"

Gege waved with his hand and pointed to the concierge at the table they were joining.

Hua Cheng was looking at the place—probably thinking how much better it would look if the tableware and cutlery were made of silver—when his eye met the jolly lady his husband had waved earlier. In that precise moment, the man who was supposedly her husband turned to face the newly arrived couple.

The man almost choked on his own saliva when he saw Hua Cheng. The latter's response was exactly the same.

"You?!" they screamed in unison.

"Oh! So you two have met before?" Xie Lian added happily. "That's nice!" he grinned, taking a seat.

While Xie Lian was relieved that his husband was in the very good company of an old friend, Rin—Sesshomaru's wife—couldn't share his cheerfulness. She knew her husband well enough. Sesshomaru disliked... well... everyone.

If he and the one-eyed man had met before, it probably ended badly.

As Rin tried—and failed—to remain upbeat, her husband's words from earlier hit her like a brick:

"I encounter a crazy Blackbeard cosplayer."

Her eyes widened, and she started to connect the dots. Considering Sesshomaru had zero regard for social conduct and feelings in general, that meeting was doomed to end badly.

She snapped back to reality, faking a smile that made Hua Cheng frown.

"Excuse us for a moment. Will you?" Rin stood up and grabbed Sesshomaru's arm, forcing him to stand up.

Once they were in a more private location, she warned her husband.

"Behave, okay?"

Sesshomaru frowned, a little offended. "I haven't done anything."

Rin gave him the look. That one only she could give him. One that left Sesshomaru speechless.

"You didn't succeed in killing him earlier; I don't want you to try it now."

Sesshomaru rolled his eyes. When had Rin become so perceptive?

"Fine," he stated coldly.

While they were discussing Sesshomaru’s manners and goodwill, Xie Lian had the urge to ask his husband about the sudden departure of their companions.

"Hua-Hua?"

The mentioned one turned with the most fake of grins on his face.

"Yes, my love?"

"You didn’t!" Xie Lian burst, and Hua Cheng was left confused. "When, how, and why?!"

"I have no idea what you are talking about, gege."

Xie Lian raised an eyebrow. Hua Cheng sighed defeatedly.

"This morning, when he diminished my honor and made me crash my motorcycle."

"He did not do such a thing."

"How do you know? Were you there?"

Xie Lian’s eyebrow was raised again.

"Just behave. Please."

The first couple returned to the table. Sesshomaru’s eyes were fixed on Hua Cheng’s defyingly, waiting for something to trouble the one-eyed man so he could at least have a good laugh. For the Chinese, it was no different.

At first, it was a little uncomfortable for Rin and Xie Lian, but when the drinks and food started to come, both of them forgot about their grumpy husbands, immersing themselves in the most amusing and entertaining chitchat they had ever had.

When the jolly dinner was finally over, Xie Lian and Rin bid farewell to one another with the warm promise of repeating such a wonderful meeting, perhaps next time without their husbands.

"Congratulations, my love," said Rin, clinging to Sesshomaru’s arm.

He frowned—again, as he had been doing throughout the whole evening.

"As you managed to restrain yourself from doing and saying something unpleasant, I shall compensate you for it!"

Sesshomaru widened his eyes—as much as his distant personality allowed him—trying to keep it together. He was excited about that proposition.

"Really?" he asked cheekily, bringing Rin closer to him.

Rin nodded with a large smile and a slight blush on her face. She grabbed her husband’s shirt and delicately pulled him down to her, placing her soft lips on top of his.

"Let’s go home." Sesshomaru took her wife’s hand and practically dragged her to their car.

Even if it had been a lousy day, at least it would have a nice—and satisfying—ending.
