Work Text:
Lipstick isn't something Wayne would consider getting as a present. He thought while inspecting the elegant black tube with a name-brand craving on the cap. Candy Apple Red, read the bottom. It was far too expensive for a simple prank gift.
He had no idea what prompted Lizzy to get such an expensive lipstick for their prank gift exchange. He got her an assortment of buttons with stupid sounds recorded on them. He felt slightly bad now. Slightly. The buttons clearly didn't compare in price, but Lizzy seemed pleased.
After finishing their little meet-up, they both waved goodbye at each other and left to return to their partners. Lizzy, with a pep in her step, was probably ecstatic to bother her girlfriend with the buttons she was gifted.
Wayne, on the other hand, was staring at the lipstick tube as he walked. What would he even use lipstick for? He didn't wear much makeup. He wouldn't need a bold red lip. But he was far too intrigued by the possibilities, and the lipstick was far too expensive, to get rid of it.
Wayne reached his apartment. He opened the door and announced his return loudly, out of habit. He got no reaction, so he assumed Benjamin was out. He put away his coat and took off his shoes.
Wayne yawned as he locked the door. He pocketed the tube and walked in, hoping to nap on the couch while waiting for his boyfriend. However, he was met with a pleasant surprise.
As Wayne walked in, he finally found his boyfriend. Benjamin was sitting at his desk, looking over documents. He was wearing a white button-down, and it dawned on Wayne that he most likely barely came back from meeting with his father. He definitely remembered Benjamin mentioning something about it.
He was probably distracted and didn't hear Wayne. Did Benjamin not realize Wayne had come home? This was a perfect time to play a prank! His hand grazed the lipstick tube in his pocket.
His eyes wondered at his hardworking boyfriend as he pulled out the tube. His eyes went to the lipstick in his hand. The pretty tube rested lightly on his fingers. He hummed quietly to himself and opened the tube. He twisted the tube, and the brightest, most eye-catching color came out.
A devious little plan came to mind as Wayne felt himself smirk. It wasn't a particularly evil idea, so he wouldn't get into a lot of trouble. Maybe a light scolding, he thought while closing the tube. Wayne made up his mind; he wanted to see his boyfriend's face afterwards. He walked to the bathroom quietly so as not to alert Benjamin.
He opened the door and turned on the light. He opened the lipstick again and hoped he remembered how to apply it. Wayne sighed and conjured up all his training from the high school theater club. He was taught by a really nice girl how to apply makeup after he was given a role that required a full face of makeup.
He still used those skills, mostly how to wear concealer and foundation, since those skills helped him hide his eye bags during college. But lipstick wasn't something he wore every day, or really ever, so he never needed the skill after theater club.
However, at this moment, he hopes the skill is like riding a bike. Well, he thought, let's see. Wayne leaned over the sink and gently pressed the tip of the bright red lipstick to his lip. He remembered what the girl said and made sure to follow her instructions.
After the first pass, he could tell the lipstick was quite high quality; it was almost as bright as the tube by now. However, he still went over it again, and finally the color popped like it was supposed to.
He closed the tube and placed it down while he inspected the bright color. It was an incredibly beautiful color, and it has a pretty satin finish and a bit of glitter too.
Wayne smirked to himself, and he couldn't wait to see if Benjamin would be flustered or annoyed afterwards. He loved his boyfriend's reactions to his pranks. He left the bathroom and found the other right where he left him, hunched over his desk, working hard.
Wayne carefully sneaked up on him, gently put his hands on Benjamin's shoulders, and pressed his lips on the back of the other's neck. Benjamin let out a shutter and idly said, "Sorry, I didn't hear you come in." Wayne hummed against his boyfriend's nape.
Wayne separated and saw a bright red kiss mark on Benjamin's nape. That set off a mildly possessive feeling in the bottom of his stomach. He swallowed to try to deal with the dryness in the back of his throat, but it didn't do much to help.
Instead, he decided to continue on. Wayne kissed Benjamin's neck even more, each time leaving a red mark. He could feel his boyfriend crane his neck subconsciously to let Wayne continue. Wayne took the invitation and continued up his boyfriend's neck.
Benjamin leaned back and rested his head on Wayne's chest. "I'm tired," he murmured quietly, closing his eyes. "I'm sure you are; you fried that nerdy brain of yours with all this thinking," Wayne said while kissing his boyfriend's cheek. Benjamin let out an amused puff at the insult.
"You haven't called me a nerd in a while; I was starting to get worried," Benjamin said with a bit of snark. Wayne huffed and lazily wrapped his arms around the other's shoulders. "Well, I better catch up, nerd," he said while pressing a kiss on the other's forehead.
Benjamin chuckled and sighed. "This is nice," he said while fully melting into the warm embrace. Wayne hummed in reaction and continued kissing Benjamin's neck. Red smudges littered his boyfriend's neck like hickeys would.
Soon, Benjamin's jaw was covered in fading red. A little possessive part of Wayne keened at the marks. This was supposed to be a simple prank, but it turned into something else. He couldn't bring himself to mind as he finally reached Benjamin's lips.
They kissed languidly, their lips lethargically pressing against each other's. Both of them were tired, but they still didn't pull away. Even with their constant bickering and pranks, Wayne and Benjamin were still stupidly in love with each other. They held on to each other and relished in each other's warmth.
Even if he wouldn't admit it out loud, in fear of inflating his boyfriend's already enlarged ego, Benjamin does adore the pleasant distraction Wayne provides. He sometimes forgets to relax once he starts working. Too wrapped up in his head to even remember to eat, drink, or even sleep.
This was a pleasant distraction. Plus, he was almost done with his work, so he could have a little break. He would gladly admit he liked feeling Wayne's arms wrapped around him and his warm lips against his own. The small comfort was something he cherished, especially after working so much.
Benjamin's hands rested on Wayne's cheeks, while Wayne's arms were wrapped around his shoulders. Benjamin's thumbs rubbed gentle circles on Wayne's cheeks as they continued to kiss lazily. Slow yet loving movements against each other.
Wayne pushed to make the kiss more lively, and Benjamin, always weak against Wayne's request, followed the other's movements. The gentle, lazy kiss turned into a slow yet hungry makeout session. Both of them greedily stole each other's air and devoured whatever sounds escaped the other's throat.
Thoughts of work and anything outside of their lips faded into the fog in Benjamin's mind. Want. Want. Want. They both wanted more. More of their warmth. More of their touch. More of the other.
They separated momentarily to catch their breath. Amidst the fog that plagued his mind, Benjamin noticed something but quickly dismissed it as their lips met again. The thought was pushed into the back of his mind as they continued.
But as Wayne pressed himself against Benjamin, the thought passed through his mind again. Red... Like bright red. Why did Benjamin see red? The fog slightly lifted as the question repeated itself in his mind. Wait, why would he see red?
Benjamin paused and broke the kiss. Wayne whined in response. Benjamin moved back and finally noticed the bright color on his boyfriend's lips. Bright red was smeared on Wayne's lips and cheeks.
The foggy bliss completely dissipated as he realized what had happened. What a dumb prank, he thought fondly. The lipstick was not transfer-proof, obviously. And Benjamin was positive his face matched the smeared mess as his boyfriend—probably worse at that.
He blinked and checked the side of his collar, where Wayne was kissing. Sure enough. Benjamin let out a tired sigh when he noticed bright red smudges on his collar. He looked up at his boyfriend with an unamused face, and Wayne looked absolutely proud of himself. "You better know how to remove lipstick from clothes," he huffed.
"I do, I do, don't worry," Wayne said absently while leaning down and capturing his boyfriend's lips again. Benjamin was sure he didn't even hear him, but he let it slide. He let himself melt into the kiss again. Wayne seemed perfectly content with the mess he had created. Along with Benjamin, who was all too used to it to actually care, continued making out with his boyfriend; his paperwork could wait.
