Work Text:
Benjamin laid on the couch reading a book, eating a sliced apple. He made a snack while Wayne was out. He didn't need to eat, but he sometimes likes to eat something sweet. It was a nice evening (maybe? He didn't know how time worked in hell) except for the jazz music playing.
He tried his best to ignore the jazz music blasting all over. Wayne still looked for ways to get on his nerves, successfully too. Benjamin can never be mad though, instead, he gets on his nerves too.
Benjamin rolled over to his stomach and rested his cheek on his palm. He was getting bored when was Wayne getting back? He sighed and reached over to the coffee table to get a apple slice. The plate moved... The plate was closer to him before.
Benjamin mentally groaned and decided he wasn't going to give his boyfriend the reaction he wanted. "Oh, I guess I pushed it," Benjamin mumbled. He stretched to bring the plate closer. He grabbed a slice and ate it as he read.
The barely audible huff told him he was right. Wayne was trying to annoy him. The tactic must've changed because something started to bang on the door. Benjamin didn't react, Wayne did that a few times to scare or startle him.
Now, he knows no hell resident was stupid enough to come close to a demon's home, especially if that demon is Wayne. And, the other demons completely avoided interacting with each other unless it was absolutely necessary.
Benjamin just hummed and ignored it. After what felt like hours (but was probably a few minutes) the knocking stopped. Benjamin relaxed a little, if Wayne continued he would've cracked. The few minutes of silence gave Benjamin a chance to relax.
The phone started to ring. Benjamin sighed and bookmarked the page he was on. He got up and walked to the phone. He picked it up and listened in. It was silent for a second before he heard a sharp inhale. Benjamin pulled it away from his ear and pointed it away from him.
A shriek cut through the music. Screams of the damned. This trick hasn't happened in a while. Benjamin hummed softly as the screaming continued. The screaming stopped and a huffed was heard on the other end.
Benjamin brought the phone back, "Ok, I'll pass it on to Wayne." He hung up and went back to his seat. He got comfortable and continued to read his book. When he reached for an apple the plate was moved again.
He turned his gaze to gauge if it was worth getting up or not. There a few inches from his hand was a huge, sharp-toothed monster. It grinned at him, showing off its teeth. Benjamin just blinked at it, with no fear or anything in his expression.
The monster growled lowly as Benjamin didn't give a reaction. Benjamin sighed quietly, "Wayne, are you done?" Wayne turned back to his usual form and huffed. "You didn't even give a reaction!" Wayne said as he walked to Benjamin on the couch.
"Because you're so predictable," Benjamin said as Wayne laid on top of him. "Seriously, at least a yelp would've been nice," Wayne rested his chin on Benjamin's shoulder, "And, I'm not predictable!" "Mhm, sure you aren't," Benjamin turned his head and kissed Wayne's temple.
Wayne huffed but accepted the kiss. He wrapped his arms around Benjamin and stayed quiet for a while. Benjamin had a hand in Wayne's hair, gently massaging his scalp. "I'll take it that you missed me," Benjamin murmured. Wayne nodded and hugged him tighter.
Benjamin hummed, "I missed you too." Wayne kissed Benjamin's cheek before fully relaxing. Benjamin guessed he's going to sleep. He closed his book and settled comfortably on his arms. Why not join his boyfriend in a nap?
