Work Text:
the king lays in his bed, snoring loudly. his knight is beside him, and gently begins to roll off it, gently in order not to wake his majesty.
he pulls away from the king, but his grip is tight and stern. the knight opts to grabbing a pillow and indiana-jonesing it, gently swapping the two around. he puts the pillow on top of his head, and gently slips downwards, until he is free from the king's grasp.
"nghh… stan…"
he slowly starts to dress himself, in simple clothes and armor. despite having lived in the king's castle for the better half of six years, he has still not let go of his human roots.
After a few minutes, kyle wakes up.
"eh... stanley? where did you go...?" he says, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"stanley? stan... leyyy...?" he says quietly, half talking to himself, as he sits up in bed.
the knight turns to him.
"you do know you can call me stan, right? most people do."
"but… i'm not most people. and i like the power your full name holds on you, marshwalker."
the knight rolls his eyes.
the king chuckles a bit, and begins in a teasing voice
"where're you off to? you have to work today? or... are there other reasons...?"
"i do have to work, yes." he lies.
"the guards and the soldiers need me. and just.. being around the village is good. I am a human, after all. public relations are twice as important."
that part is technically true
"mhm... that makes sense... of course my stan would be the best at keeping up good relations with the people of his kingdom..."
he says, grinning, and laying back down to the bed.
"go... go do your work... my love... i'll see you later... just, make the night last before you sleep... okay, stan?"
he says, his voice a bit sleepy but a bit playful; he smiles and yawns
the knight grins, rolling his eyes again.
"i prefer it when you call me stanley."
the king is just laying around the castle when he hears the knight get home, and sits up fast.
"good afternoon..., my darling... you're late... did something... urgent come up... or did you just lose track of time... hanging out with the village folk?" he asks, with a grin, as he walks over to the knight.
the knight turns to him, seeming almost giddy.
"h-hello, my love. I have prepared something for you." stan sounds nervous and excited, his hands behind his back.
he chuckles "and what, may I ask, could you possibly have prepared... for me, my stanley?" He asks, raising an eyebrow, and putting his arms around the knight to kiss his neck.
the knight is flustered, but begins to speak.
"okay, so um..." he seems very excited.
he pulls out a bouquet of flowers from behind him, full of reds and blues
"I picked them myself."
the king's face changes into a grin, his eyes wide in shock and love.
"oh! for me?" the king asks, his face lighting up with happiness as he looks at the flowers, then at the knight with a large grin on his face
"okay... um, so I asked around, but... have you heard of um... flower languages? like giving someone different flowers mean different things?"
He chuckles and ruffles the knight's hair.
"and... do these flowers have... special meanings, Stanley... for what you're trying to tell me?" He asks, with a teasingly amused tone
the knight is practically bouncing in excitement at this point.
"yeah, so um.. they're red, and blue. red is the colour of love, of course, but it's also the colour of your bright, beautiful hair. um, so there are roses here, and orchids, right?"
"oh... my stanley... you remembered the colour of my hair... you know how much I love to be praised, and... well, you've been so thoughtful, my love..." he grins
"and yes, I believe I see roses and orchids…" he adds, "so, what exactly do you mean to say?"
the knight's clearly very excited about this topic.
"yes, yes, and- um.. so, red roses are THE flower of love. they represent love, and passion. but... you already know that I feel that way about you. and um.. blue roses, they're... I think they might me magical, because you don't find them in the human kingdom, but... still. blue roses can have A LOT of meaning."
kyle chuckles softly.
"You're so cute... my stanley... and... what does a magic blue rose... symbolize...? i'm going to guess it means that your love is magical, too... isnt that the case?" he says, with a grin, as he leans In for a kiss.
"blue roses mean many different things, but in this case, true love. and- and love at first sight. some of them are lighter, because light blue roses mean sensitivity and hope. not necessarily romantic but for you, it is."
"awww... but my stanley, surely you don't think that your love wasn't instantly the most special love of my entire life..." he smiles, and leans in for a kiss, but pauses .
"...you don't think I didn't fall in love with you at first sight...? because, I certainly did... I knew right away, my stanley... right away... that you... were the one for me…"
stanley smiles, the grin on his face growing each second. he starts talking again to avoid tearing up.
"so, uh... the orchids represent a lot if things. love, luxury, beauty, strength, sexuality. and blue orchids in particular, represent rarity, uniqueness and natural beauty. all of which I believe applies to you."
kyle chuckles, and smiles wider, looking at stanley with a teasing yet loving tone
"you picked flowers that represent so much, stanley... you know... the fact you did that for me is very touching… …you love me, and the luxury, think i'm beautiful, strong and… sexy?"
stan blushes heavily, but nods ever so slightly, quite flustered.
"a-and um.. the reason I made a lot of these flowers blue is because it reminds me of.. myself? my hat and stuff. turns out blue is also the rarest colour of flower. there's also a lot of leaves, leaves represent hope. I made sure to include them because they're green, and you remind me of green. your hat, your eyes. the leaves are between everything, and they're everywhere. because... you're everything to me. and... I think of you no matter where I am."
he chuckles and smiles, his eyes lidded and full of love.
"you know... I'm learning... that you're more romantic than you let on..." he says, with a grin, before looking at the plants and flowers
"these... this is your love language, isn't it, stanley…? because, I'm... definitely touched by this..." he says, glancing at stanley "i think I'll have to look into flower languages... if my love can show his affection with flowers... I should learn too…"
stan blushes even more, shaking his head, his face turning a deep red. a massive grin is plastered on his face, as he kicks his feet.
"i think it's just... you're so good with words, my love. i'm nowhere near as verbal as you are. the things you say... they could have me on the floor in a blink. so... i find other ways to show my love to you. I suppose maybe I am a romantic. but... you are more than worth the effort."
kyles expression softens further.
"oh, stanley, my lovely stanley... stop... you're making me blush..."
he says, grinning, as he rubs stans cheek
"it's alright... you know, not everyone can be so verbally... proficient, but you... you are such an amazing individual, in your own way..." he says, kissing stanley's forehead gently
"I just love... everything about you, stanley... everything... your personality, your body, the way you make me feel... you're so perfect... so very... perfect…"
There are tears in Stan's eyes.
"i... i don't know what to say…"
kyle chuckles and shakes his head.
"you don't need to say anything, my love..." he grabs stanley's hands and kisses one of them, smiling
"i don't mind you not saying anything... i just love spending time with you... my stanley... my... my everything..."
stan looks up at him with wide, admiring eyes, smiling and blushing furiously.
"you have a whole kingdom, my love, I couldn't possibly be your everything."
kyle keeps stanley's hands by his mouth
"everything." he whispers.
