Oliver sat impatiently in his chair at the stainless steel table, listening to Batman and Superman drone on and on about the newest scheme that they think Lex Luther may be planning. Jeez, this was boring. The league hadn’t had to deal with a crisis in over a month, and while one would think that would be a good thing, it makes these “work” meetings a bit dry. They are all used to Batman speculating and being paranoid, but Superman too? These are drastic times. Ollie himself hadn’t been needed on anything bigger than an armed robbery in a week. He sighed in boredom, ignoring the pointed look Batman sent his way. He looked around the table at his team, Dinah on his right side. She at least had the decency to look interested in what the other two were saying. Diana, Arthur, J’onn, even Barry looked at least like they were at least trying to give Bruce and Clark their undivided attention, albeit doing a poor job at it. Arthur had been doodling on a piece of paper with a pen for the past 20 minutes, and Flash looked as if he was having a hard time keeping still. His leg was bouncing rapidly, his yellow boot tapping against the ground so fast he was surprised the floor hadn’t been effected - only to remember that Bruce had the floors reenforced after the last speedster related pacing incident. If Ollie liked Barry a little bit more, he may actually feel bad for the guy. I mean, this meeting had dragged on for nearly two hours now, which means to the bored speedster, it had to feel like days. He looked like he was picking at his own gloves, trying to keep his mind and attention on something so as to not be a distraction. A white gloved hand was resting on the back on the speedster’s chair, and that, of course, belonged to Hal Jordan. Hal had only been back from his latest space mission for a few days, so they’d yet to have a chance to catch up, but from what he’d heard, the mission had gone as smoothly as it could. Ollie tried to go catch Hal’s eye from beside him, which was easier said than done, seeing as the brunette seemed pretty focused on the Flash, while trying to pretend like he was paying attention to the two heroes up front. He watched as the Lantern frowned and uncrossed his legs, leaning over to whisper something near his uncovered ear, before pulling away with a smirk and removing his arm from the back of Barry’s seat as Batman directed an unimpressed look his way. Barry was looking down, trying to hide the blush on his cheeks. Oliver held back a laugh as Hal spared a glance his and Dinah’s way, smirk still in place, as he stood and stretched, making a show of yawning so that Clark would get the hint and give it a break already.
“Listen, this is great and all, but can we wrap it up? I’ve got a date with a hot blonde tonight.” Hal said, smirk still firmly in place on his face. Diana tried to hide it, but a small smile was gracing her features from her stop across the table. She would always back the other two members of “The Trinity”, but even she knew this meeting was overkill. Honestly, she thinks it’s good for the team to be together in a non-end-of-the-world or life-threatening situation at least every other week. It meant a lot to her that her team felt like family to her, and she knew that they felt the same. Arthur barely contained a laugh, and even J’onn looked like he was welcome to any distraction from this snooze fest. Ollie leaned forward, interested in what would happen next. It was always fun watching The Bat and Hal go at it, especially when it wasn’t about anything serious. Instead, the blonde sitting on the other side of Hal spoke up, his eyebrows furrowed like he was confused about something.
“I thought we were getting dinner tonight?” He asked, sounding a bit put out that Hal had assumedly forgotten their plans. He even had Jay take Wally for the night so they could have some alone time.
Hal turned his head to look back at Barry, a knowing look on his face along with a poorly concealed look of adoration.
“We are.”
It was quiet around the table for a moment as Barry looked on confused, just trying
to figure out what his evening was going to look like. He and Hal hadn’t discussed if they were exclusive or what was going on with them yet, but he immediately came to Barry’s house when he returned to Earth and hadn’t showed any signs of leaving. Barry had to physically drag him out of bed to even get him to this meeting. Barry was hoping that was a sign that Hal and he were dating, or at least headed in that direction. He trusts Hal, and Hal knows better than to mess around with Barry if he’s not serious.
Hal sighed with a smile, moving back behind Barry’s chair. He ran a hand over the speedster’s collarbone to rest on his chest. Before he could say anything, the blonde on his other side objected.
“Just give him a second, he’ll figure it out. He’s the smartest one here,” the archer prompted. Hal wasn’t sure if his other best friend believed that or not, seeing as he usually took any opportunity to start something with the speedster. Ollie turned out to be right, as after another moment of stewing it over, Barry finally came to the notion that HE was the “hot blonde” that Hal was seeing tonight. His eyes widened and he flushed in embarrassment as Hal leaned around to kiss his cheek. Diana and Arthur looked amused, while Clark cleared his throat from the front of the room. This wasn’t the first time Barry and Hal had showed what was considered “PDA” in front of the team, not even close. It was the most damning, that’s for sure, but they’d been unafraid of physically closeness, even before they started whatever it was this was. Ollie rolled his eyes and stood, holding a hand out for Dinah to take. Hal and Barry had stood, Barry still looking slightly embarrassed but mostly infatuated. In the background, they could hear Batman mumble that the meeting was over, as if everyone else hadn’t already decided that when they tuned out nearly an hour ago. Ollie watched as Hal pulled the slightly shorter man closer to himself as they walked toward the door of the conference room, undoubtedly headed to the airlock to head back to Earth.
“This team sure has a lot of blondes,” Dinah pointed out, laughing. She had a point, between Barry, Arthur, Dinah, and himself, nearly half the team was blonde. Up at the front of the table, Clark was still watching on in confusion.
“Uhm,” he mumbled, not sure what he’d just witnessed, “What just happened? Are they…?” He looked around at his teammates, most of which seemed amused. Batman pinched the bridge of his nose, wanting nothing more than to get out of here and take out his annoyance on some of Gotham’s thugs and criminals. Ollie laughed loudly, shouting his good nights and throwing an arm around Dinah as they headed toward the zeta beams. Out the massive windows they could just make out the fainting green light heading towards Earth, specifically the midwest. Ugh, Ollie scowled. He realized he was going to have to put in a bit more effort if he wanted to hang out with his buddy Hal from now on, since he doesn’t seem to be spending much time in California anymore.
okay i can’t think of an ending so i’m just ending it here
