Summary
Once he reaches the door to what used to be his room, he can’t help but feel nauseous. He isn’t sick. He knows that. But the thought of tainting what used to be his safe space makes him want to vomit. With a sharp exhale, he turns away from the door and walks further down the short corridor.
His hand finds itself against the wood of his mom’s bedroom door. He knocks once, twice. He raises his hand again, but pauses. Waits four seconds.
As he opens the door, it creeks.
He calls out to the empty room. His voice comes out small.
“Mom?”
