You know how hard it is to find a friend?
It’s difficult to find someone who’s kind.
Your inconvenience worth their time.
Where neither one has something to suspect,
and tolerate what they don’t understand.
Who listens with a sympathetic love.
How desperately I want to know that love.
If I could only find a single friend
who could accept me as a kindred kind,
with whom I could relax and spend my time.
I’d finally feel content, I would suspect.
We vanquish hate when we can understand.
Too often we will never understand.
It’s easier to hate than try to love,
to find another foe than find a friend,
ignoring traits all share within our kind.
A hatred that comprises all our time.
There’s not a single soul we don’t suspect
of evil deeds. All people are suspect.
Deny humanity. Don’t try to understand
that what they do they do because of love.
That they as well may miss a bygone friend,
or are in pain, forgetting to be kind.
This ignorance is eating up our time.
And we may well be running out of time.
We must ignore the evil we suspect
and open minds so we can understand
we must not stop the outpouring of love,
or in the stranger we may lose a friend.
For we must show compassion to our kind.
And to yourself I hope you will be kind.
Regrets we have remain throughout our time,
but lessen with a love we don’t suspect.
So many love us, we don’t understand.
For if you treat all people with your love,
perhaps you’ll see that you forgot some friends.
And yet I wait to find a new-found friend.
Is there another waiting of my kind?
Will patience be rewarded in my time?
