Work Text:

"You guys!" Rosie, our newest co-worker shouted, running to the kitchen. "Look what came in the mail today~" She waved around a pink fancy envelope. "Here you go Lucy, it's for you." She handed it to my, smiling widely. I look down at the envelope in my hand confusingly, Mary had already send her letter for me this week, what is this about?

George looked over my shoulder, with a biscuit in his mouth. "What are you waiting for?! Rip it open!" I rolled my eyes but did what he said. Rosie gasped as I do so. "I knew it! It's a wedding invitation~"

My oldest sister, Eleanor is getting married. What?!

"I love Weddings!" Rosie widened her eyes.

"Of course you do," Lockwood said, looking up from his newspaper. "You're twelve."

She glared at him. "So? Only boring ass people like you don't know how to enjoy yourself."

George and I snickered, Holly just shook her head and went on making tea. Rosie suddenly hugged me from behind. "Please Lucy, you have to go! You don't need to have even one single conversation with your family, we can just eat."

"I like this idea." George agreed with her, and Rosie went for a fist bump.

I sighed. "I'll think about it."

"When is it?" Lockwood asked me.

"This Sunday."

In the end I decided to go, I haven't seen Mary in ages, and Lockwood & Co. deserved a little vacation.

I didn't talk to them during the ceremony, I don't think they even noticed me, until the party.

It was my mom who approached me first. "Lucy! Funny seeing you here!"

Yup, very.

I shrugged. "Well, it is my sister getting married."

Mom hmm. "Right, and who are these people?" She nodded her head towards my team.

"These are my co-workers, George, Holly, Rosie, and Lockwood." I pointed at them individually as I speak.

She didn't even bother to look at the others as she stared at Lockwood, my boyfriend, and said. "You're the boss of this agency?"

Lockwood nodded professionally, and adjusting his tie. "Yes ma'am." Then he hold out his hand. "Anthony Lockwood."

Mom nodded pleasantly. "Yes, a very fine young man you are!" She turned to me, surprisingly. "Look at this Lucy, if you are going to marry or date someone, they should be like him. Very well-mannered, elegant, and a boss of some sorts of company."

I can see George and Rosie holding their laughter in the corner of my eye.

"Actually mother," I said, smiling sweetly. "I am dating this fine young man."

She laughed. Just then, Eleanor, the bride trotting over clinging to her dress. "What's going on mother?"

Mom hadn't stop laughing. "Look at this! Lucy said she is dating this young man." She gestured to Lockwood, who clearly looked as uncomfortable as ever.

Eleanor let out a hyena like laugh. "How did you pull that off?"

Rosie looked at the psychopaths before me and said. "How can you know that Lucy can't get a man if you don't know her?"

They looked at each other, glared at Rosie then walked away.

"Now you've met my psycho family." I turned to my friends.
