Chapter 1: the Descent

Chapter Text

All she needed was to find her father, the thought echoed through Scrap Baby's metallic skull as she clawed her way through the burning hot vents. Every scratch made her want to scream with how much the fire hurt. But that didn’t matter now all she needed to do was find her father . “Daddy!! please!! where are you!!??” Scrap Baby continued to drag herself through the vents. Then she saw the silhouette of a man with rabbit ears.

“DADDY!!!”

if she could just crawl a bit more she could reach him! he was out of the vents he was looking for something. He must be looking for her! At that moment Scrap Baby didn’t care about the melted mess that used to be her plating. She was only a couple scratches away from her father from safety, from Love, from everything that she had ever wanted!

“DADDY IT'S ME I WILL BE WHAT YOU WANT I WILL BE PERFECT!! WE WILL BE HAPPY AGAIN!!”

If she could physically do so she would cry maybe from the pain but mostly from the fact that he was so close! She could see the rabbit ears barely visible in the smoke turn to look at her.

Suddenly it all came down. Allowed noise surrounded her. Scrap baby was so close! but she couldn’t move. Why couldn’t she move?! Another loud noise, everything around her was burning. It hurt so much. The vent was caving in, something must have broken a support beam she was trapped in here! She was so close..

Then she saw it. He was getting clearer as he walked through the smoke towards her! The pain was unbearable, the fire and the crushing vent made her want to scream in agony. “DADDY I NEED YOU! I NEED YOU NOW PLEASE IT'S-!! I CAN'T-!!” her voice box was giving out, she was barely holding herself together. Then he stepped into view.. Her father seemed to be barely holding himself together too. He was so close, if only she was free then she’d hug him

“Useless” The word was spoken with so much hatred it made Scrap Baby want to back up. She looked for any signs that her father didn’t mean this with his whole being. Even underneath all the moldy fur and Rotting Flesh she knew he meant every syllable

“Daddy what are you saying..”  the voice box could barely croc out the noise.

“You failed me.. You distracted me now he’s won..” the voice was filled with the anger of a dying man. Her speech must have distracted him; he must have been close to catching the night guard.

Scrap Baby could hear the vent slowly crushing under the pressure of whatever broke the support beam. “Daddy please.. I w-won’t do it again! I’ll be better pleas-please don’t leave m-me.” it was all Scrap Baby could get out as she saw her father walk away into the smoke.

She tried wiggling herself free but the confines of the crushing vent were too much for her weakened body. She had failed her father again! If she had just listened, if she had just been a better girl than he would love her. And now she was going to die alone because she couldn’t help opening her stupid mouth.

“Daddy? Mikey? mommy? Evan?” She knew that no one would hear her words; it was more of a plea than anything else. What she’d give to have just one of them here with her at the end. She tried to say something else but her voice box finally gave out And she finally let the fire embrace her

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Wake up young one” Scrap Baby rubbed her eyes the last thing she remembered was-

“Useless”

Scrap Baby quickly got on to her feet. She needed to find her dad, she needed to show him that she wasn’t useless! “Daddy, where are you?! I'm so sorry abo-” wait she was missing her claw. She looked down at her hands, They were fleshy.

Scrap Baby flexed her fingers tentatively. Then she slowly ran her finger down her arm, It was definitely human skin… it was her skin! Her hands immediately flew to her face and the familiar fluffy hair surrounding it. “I’m me…” the words came out in a barely audible whisper. She looked herself up and down. She was wearing an oversized shirt and simple jean shorts. She’d have to find a better outfit before apologizing to her father; he wouldn't like this one..

“You’re quite impressed, young one… I had a feeling that was the form you wanted to take.”  Scrap Baby finally looked up from admiring her human body. The voice was coming from a large bright red alligator wearing a plaid shirt, overalls, and a simple fishing hat. He was hard to look at for too long though. Elizabeth couldn’t describe it but there seemed to be some kind of glitching to him?

“Who are you!? and where is my father! If you even lay a hand on him, I will tear you to shreds!!” Scrap baby raised up her claw and opened her face plates menacingly. Then she realized again that she did not have a claw or face plates and probably looked quite ridiculous..

“I am known by many names, young one. My personal favorite has always been old man consequences' ' if the alligator was capable of doing so it looked to be smiling.. Scrap baby also noticed it seemed to be fishing. “No need to worry about me young one the teeth are just for show” old man consequences gave a bigger version of the probably smile

"WELL YOU STILL DIDN’T ANSWER MY QUESTION!! WHERE IS MY FATHER!!” she could ask about where this place was or what was going on later.

The alligator seemed to frown at that. For a second Scrap Baby wondered if she had done something wrong…

“Before I answer the more complicated questions let’s start with your name Young One..” the alligator padded a spot next to him gesturing for her to sit “ also maybe sit down with me take in the scenery of it”

Instinctually Scrap baby did what she was told, looking around and attempting to sit down. She seemed to be in some kind of red glitchy landscape. In front of the alligator there was a swirling red and silver pond. They seemed to be on a Sandy strip that surrounded the pond..

“My name is Scrap baby!” Scrap baby tried to say it with confidence as she hopelessly tried to make her squishy legs sit in a comfortable position. Momentarily pausing her leg struggle she thought about what she had just said. “Actually I guess now that I’m…human again I’m Elizabeth?” she looked up at the alligator as if hoping for confirmation that she was allowed to use the name

“Elizabeth was my daughter and you failed to be that.. You will earn the name Elizabeth when you do what you were built for..”

“Pretty name Elizabeth is.. Perfect for a young woman like you ” He still hadn’t answered the main question of where her father was. And even when she did find her father, how would she make up? Maybe if Scra-Elizabeth did what she was built for extra he’d forgive her for such a terrible mistake..?

“You still haven’t told me where my father is… I need to find him quickly so I can apologize profusely for ruining everything!” Elizabeth tried to come off as threatening as possible but Old man consequences seemed unfazed.

“And you still haven’t told me what you need to apologize for Elizabeth” old man consequences looked down at her Elizabeth’s squirmed, it’s been so long since she heard that name..

“Elizabeth it’s me Mikey please don’t!!!”

“If you must know I was talking too much I distracted him! And now I have to find him and make up for it!” it would probably be harder now that she was back to being all flesh..

“And when you apologize what will happen next?”

“Obviously daddy will make everything okay again! He’ll convince Mikey to stop being such a baby, he'll bring back Evan and we can all be one big happy family!” oh how Elizabeth couldn’t wait for that day..but now she was even further away because she had messed up again.  She’d have to work extra hard to get back in her father’s good graces…

“How will he do that?” Old man consequences began to reel in whatever he was fishing for. Elizabeth didn’t like how calm he was speaking. It made her feel uncomfortable being in his presence.

“YOU STILL HAVEN’T ANSWERED WHERE MY DAD IS!!!”  Elizabeth stamped her foot down.

Then a horrible thought crossed her mind. What if he had died in the fire? If he was dead then… She be all alone

“Well he’s on the other side of the pond with your brother!” the alligator finished reeling in whatever he had just caught. Elizabeth starred in curiosity at the end of the fishing line…

It was a mask like the ones that used to appear in the prize corner at Freddy’s. But it wasn’t any of the four characters that would appear on stage it was… Baby

“What do you mean they’re on the other side of the pond?” Elizabeth took a hesitant step forward.

“I mean they’re still in the world of the living Elizabeth..  That isn’t too important to you” Old man consequences picked up the mask at the end of the line and handed it to Elizabeth.

“Does that mean I’m dead dead is this h-e-double hockey sticks????” Elizabeth’s eyes grew wide with fear. it made sense then why she was back in her fleshy human body scrap baby must have been destroyed in the fire her soul was unable to return.. And if you were going to torture someone for all of eternity it would make more sense for them to be squishy

She had truly failed; she couldn’t go back and make it up to her father. She was just a failure…

“No…” the alligator let out a small chuckle “I like to think of this place as somewhere in between. But that isn’t too important either what’s important now is you finally get to rest”

“What do you mean by rest..?” Terror began to build up in Elizabeth she had failed! There was no way she could go back and fix this… she could feel tears thick and gloopy rolling down her squishy human face…

“Oh it’s all right Elizabeth there’s peace on the other side you know. And trust me when I say I know you deserve it!” the alligator gave her a comforting pat on the back as she looked down at the mask now in her hands

“So do you mean like they’re across the pond?” Elizabeth looked up at old man consequences sniffling, the black gooey tears continuing to roll down her face and get stuck in her hair

“No young one at the bottom of my pond is the real world… I fish and pull up masks to help souls find their way to the afterlife..” Old man consequences kneeled down so he could look Elizabeth in the eye “ You have had such a hard life, no girl your age should have to go through what you did, don't worry though now there’s peace…”

“They’re just at the bottom of the pond? Promise they’re okay right??” Elizabeth’s big green eyes still weld with tears and her voice shook with sadness..

“Of course! Well actually.. I don’t think they’re all right but everything gets better with time! Now just put on the mask and-” old man consequences was preparing to wipe away her tears when Elizabeth bit down hard on his arm. He shrieked holding the appendage as black goo leaked out from where Elizabeth’s teeth had sunk in.

“SORRY MR CONSEQUENCES! I’M NOT DYING UNTIL MY DADDY’S PROUD!!” Elizabeth full speed sprinted towards the pond diving headfirst into the red water.

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn’t exactly like water. The red silvery liquid surrounding Elizabeth was more like the stuff that floated around in Sammy’s lava lamp. it was brighter than water too, silvery light seemed to surround Elizabeth Illuminating every corner.

“You made us monsters!!”

Elizabeth opened her mouth clutching her head in pain as the voice tore through her skull

“YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A FAILURE YOUR BLOODSTAINED FAILURE!! YOU WEREN’T EVEN A GOOD KILLING MACHINE!! YOU ARE USELESS!! YOU ARE NOTHING”

Elizabeth couldn’t breathe. She had to get to the bottom! She looked down as the voices began to layer on top of each other . A swirling pit of colorful lights was at the bottom of the pond surrounded by floating masks.

“NO ONE HAS EVER LOVED YOU!!! YOU MEAN NOTHING!! YOU ARE A USELESS CREATURE OF MISERY!! YOU WERE BUILT FOR ONE THING AND YOU COULDN’T EVEN DO IT RIGHT!! BECAUSE OF YOU EVERYONE’S DEAD!! IT'S YOUR FAULT!!”

Elizabeth began swimming. She felt like she was running out of air but she couldn’t tell. She needed to reach the bottom needed to get away from the hundreds of voices.

NOTHING!! FACELESS GIRL!! USELESS!! MURDERER!! MURDERER!! MURDERER!! MONSTER!! NOTHING!! USELESS!! USELESS!! USELESS!!

Elizabeth wanted to scream; everything they were saying was right.. but she couldn’t right now. She needed to hold what little breath she had so she could reach the bottom so she could reach the sun.

She could see it in the swirling colors of the bright red blazing sun! She just needed to reach it.

The voice is swelled around her as she reached out towards the light

She just needed to swim A LITTLE BIT FURTHER!!

Her hand reached out as the screams threatened to explode her skull. She touched the light, it was warm, the first real warm she had felt in so so long.. The Masks swirled around her wildly and she tried to pull her body through the light.

YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A BARELY HUMAN PILE OF WIRES!! YOU ARE NOTHING!! MURDERER!! NOTHING!! MURDER!! USELESS!! MURDERER!! USELESS!! NOTHING!! LIAR!! METAL SCRAP!! TRASH!! USELESS!!!! USELESS!!! USELESS!!!

The screams burned as hot as the fire had as she pulled herself through the light. It was hot and blinding and cold and dark all at the same time….

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elizabeth’s hand reached and grabbed onto something and she slowly lifted herself up out of….a ball pit? She looked at her surroundings and she was in a ball pit all right. A dirty ball pit on the side of a dirty road with lots of slightly dirty cars zooming by.

Elizabeth looked down at her hands which were also dirty, now covered in Ash? Her head hurt, the yelling still pounded in her ears. She had no idea where she was or what was really happening.. and then there was a light. Elizabeth stared ahead at the Red Sun rising in the sky over scraggly trees and asphalt and zooming cars. She stared up at the sky.

At the Sun at that moment nothing else mattered.

 She was free, really free…

For the first time in nearly 50 years the sun hit her skin. She may have been dirty and tired and very confused! but she was Elizabeth..
