Dance Like Crazy

Summary:

Changbin and Chan find themselves drinking Friday evening away. Deciding of a change in scenery they go clubbing to feel free.

Notes:

Hi hi!
Another week another 2 kids room challenge! This time it's binchan! It's not really sad, but it's not happy either, it's something we have all been through. But yeah this fic captures the feeling of DLC, which I actually realised only after writing it. I hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Changbin takes a sip of his drink. His mind is hazy and he feels himself slowly lose control of his body. He looks in front of him. Chan seems to be the same. Chan’s eyes are relaxed, hair has been messed up since the first drink. He sits back in his chair.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Chan asks.

“Like what?” Changbin knows that he is staring. But how couldn’t he? Chan looks so dazed, so dreamy.

Chan looks at him and sighs. “Nothing.” he downs the rest of his drink. “I’m going to go for another drink. Do you want some?”

“Sure.”

Changbin watches him leave. Chan stumbles a bit. They really shouldn’t drink more, but Changbin feels so free and he knows Chan does too.

They went to a bar to celebrate surviving another week. Both of them still had tons of assignments to do. But it’s Friday night, assignments don’t matter now. All that matters is…having fun. But are they? It’s hard to say. They have laughed, but the jokes are hiding their true feelings.

They’re hiding how they are scared of the future, after all this is their last year of college. They’re hiding how tired they are and how everyone else seems to be doing so much better. They’re hiding their insecurities and fears. So are the jokes really funny?

Changbin takes the last sip of his drink. He’s not really having fun after all, but he’s with Chan and somehow that makes everything better. Yes, he feels exhausted, scared, and insecure, but so does Chan and as long as they’re together, they can help each other.

When Chan gets back with their drinks Changbin gets an idea.

“We should go to a club.”

Chan laughs. Changbin smiles.

“That’s a funny suggestion.”

“I know, that’s why we should do it.”

“Neither one of us dances.”

“Why does it matter? What else are we going to do? Drink our sorrows? What good will that do?”

Chan drinks half of his drink and looks at Changbin.

It’s dim in the bar. That hides Chan’s under-eye bags. Even if it didn’t, Chan looks beautiful. So beautiful, Every time he looks at him, Changbin falls in love all over again.

“Alright let’s do that.” There’s a playful smirk as he says it. He’s excited. “I bet you can’t drink it all in one go,” Chan adds.

“You’re annoying,” Changbin says and gulps down his drink. He feels alcohol drip down his chin. When he’s done with his drink he wipes his mouth with the back of his palm. Changbin stands up and takes Chan’s hand, making the other stand up.

Chan smiles and pushes Changbin closer, giving him a sloppy kiss.

A cold breeze hits them as they step outside. It’s cold, but the alcohol in their system keeps them warm. They hold hands anyways.

“Do you even know where the closest club is?” Chan asks.

“Nope.” Changbin shakes his head and Chan laughs.

It takes a while for them to get to a club as there are multiple make-out sessions happening on the way.

The club is full of people but the two find their way to the dance floor nonetheless.

Changbin is more than tipsy now. He can’t really tell what’s happening, but he has a smile on his lips. He is dancing with his boyfriend, there is dope music playing and it is fun. It is hot and his back is starting to hurt, but he does not care.

His moves are all over the place and so are Chan’s. They probably look crazy to others. But it’s so freeing

The next day he wakes up at his and Chan’s apartment. Chan is still sleeping beside him. He has a headache and he feels sick. Changbin decides to get up to drink some water and perhaps medicine, but not yet.

Changbin lies in bed. It’s hot and stuffy in the room and Chan is snoring, but Changbin can’t get himself to get up.

Five more minutes and he finally does stand up, and as soon as he does so he regrets it. His head is pounding even more and he feels like throwing up any minute now.

But Changbin still goes to drink water and finds medicine. He goes back to the room with two glasses of water and pills. He opens the window and lies back on the bed.

He scrolls through his phone. Jisung apparently has also gone clubbing and has shared some pics. When Changbin texts him Jisung is fast to answer. Jisung tells him everything about this hot dude who he made out with only to realize that it’s Hwang Hyunjin, Jisung’s arch-nemesis from middle school.

Changbin giggles and tells Jisung how fate has its way of surprising people. Jisung immediately dismisses the possibility of him and Hyunjin being soulmates and with that, their conversation ends.

“What are you laughing about?” Chan mumbles as he scoots closer to Changbin.

“Jisung. How are you feeling?”

“Like shit. One wrong movement and all of the last night will come out of me.” Chan says and Changbin weakly laughs.

“I brought you some water and medicine.”

“Thank you. You’re the best.” Chan says but doesn’t move.

“Did you have fun yesterday?” Changbin asks.

“Yeah, but I’m not sure if it was worth it,” Chan says and slowly brings himself to sit up. After gulping down the pill he sits back. “What about you? Did you have fun?”

Changbin smiles. “Yeah, I had a lot of fun.”

“It was worth it then,” Chan comments.

They spend the rest of the day in bed unable to do much in their states. They watch some movies, drink more water and take naps.

It is not always fun being an adult and having responsibilities, but Changbin thinks it would be so much worse if he didn’t have Chan by his side.

The next time they work on music together they name the song “DLC”. Changbin is glad to have his memories and emotions preserved in a song.
