Chapter 1- New Freind
"Mommy! Mommy! this new house is so big! How can we afford it"? the child smiles and spins around with glee within the room full of wooden floor boards, wooden panels and all wooden frames. Frames which were reinforced with Concrete. The house had looked warn out and old and much of the paint was chipping but would have still ran a high market price as it was in a prime location and had three stories. Currently, the small child was standing in the second floor. They had blonde short hair in a bob and bright blue eyes and plain looking clothes and shoes.
The Older woman standing in the room had raggedy hair with grey streaks and plain looking attire. "We are fortunate enough that the reservation decided to pay for it. We wont be paying a cent. That means you behave yourself. Am I understood Enid". The Childs expression turns into a grimace as she stops spinning around as she looks up at the older stern sounding women. "Okay Mama, I will be good". The Women walks out of the room and the footsteps can be heard as she steps down the stair way which is in a circular pattern. 6 little boys of various ages come screaming as they run into the room and tackle the younger girl who laughs and screams. "Isnt this place amazingEnid g!" one of them yells. "Oh this is so Sick! Its so cool! Jerico gonna be hella fun!" another shouts. The youngest and smallest of the boys smiles "We can play all sorts of fun games in the forrest!" he says.
Agresssive steps can be heard coming up the stair way as the women who just left is coming back up. "WHAT DID I SAY!" she shouts entering the door way. The boys stop and the lot of children get up and stand up straight. "Boys! You all going to be getting the belt if you dont behave yourselves! No rough housing in the house! Take it outside! and if you going to play take your sister with you!" The Oldest of the boy frowns "Awwww, Okay mom! Everyone lets go expore the forrest he says excitedly! Come on Enid"! he says looking at the blonde girl. The Blonde girl smile and they all run down the doorway. "I SAID NO RUNNING IN THE HOUSE"! The older women screams as they race down the stairs.
The children go outside and start exploring the outside of the house. They all follow the oldest looking boy and Enid stops went she catches something in the glint of her eye. The young blonde girl looking to be about 6 years old stops and goes back. There is a crack in the side of the house and there is a gleaming shine coming from it. She bends down to examine it. She pats at the grass until she feels something she can hold in her hand and picks it up. She examines what looks to be a small piece of metal with engraving on it. It looks like some sort of greek figure. She suddenly hears a whisper.
"Obsrvant, arent we child"? Enid clenches the two headed greek coin and stands up looking around. "Who? Hello"? She looks around but can not see anyone. "That is my coin" she hears the voice again. "Who are you"? she asks still searching for the source of the voice. "Im your new freind of course". Enid seems confused by this "My new freind? but I cant even see you"? Enid hears a chuckle "Oh, you will see me tonight. Dont worry. Am I allowed in"? Enid asks curiously "Allowed in where"? The Figure whispers "Allowed into your house of course. ITs not polite if guests do not ask permission for entrance. Is that not what your mother says"? Enid is starting to get a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. Enid starts to question it "So, what if I say no"? Suddenly there is a chuckle "Child, if you do not let me in I stay in the forrest. Do you not want a freind"? Enid frowns "I would like to see my freind" she says. The voice laughs "Okay, how about a deal? You get to see me if you let me in tonight. Is that a deal? Freind"? Enid is weary but is also very curious "Okay, I just have to invite you in"? she asks. The voice continues "Tonight at the stroke of 12, there will be three knocks at your front door. I need you to come open the door and say "Come in, Come in, Come in". Enid nods "I need to say come in three times, after opening the door"? she asks. The voice responds "Correct, Also.. Do not lose my coin. If you lose it I might dissappear and than who knows what will happen". Enid nods and shoves the coin in her pocket. "I will see you tonight" the voice responds.
The Oldest of the boys appears "Hey! Enid we gonna play hide and go seek! Want to play with us"! He says with a smile. Enid looks dazed for a moment before responding "Sure! Okay! LEts play" she says with a smile.
LATER THAT NIGHT:
Enid is sleeping when she is woken to whispers in her ear. "Wake up, I am coming. Let me in my dear". Enids eyes shoot open and that is when she hears them. Even from her bedroom on the second floor. "Knock, Knock, Knock". the young blonde child leaps out of bed and sees the door to her room had been left open. She is in shorts and a plain white tshirt. She runs down the stairs with deph steps as she comes to the front door and inhales and exhales she opens the door to see NOTHING. She frowns as she looks around, waiting in front of the door way. " H Hello?" she frowns but does as she is instructed and says in a hushed scream "COME IN, COME IN, COME IN"! Suddenly the door shuts behind her and she turns around "What?" She looks up to see a figure in a hat with red eyes and all black asombal. She cant make out its face "Who are"? It speaks with a laugh "Hello, I am your freind. Are you going to invite me in"? It asks. Enid blinks and seems confused. She takes out of the coin from her pocket "This coin, its your coin? What is it"? The figure laughs "Well, technically its yours now. In return I will be your new freind. May I come in NEW Freind"? Enid shakes her head "I not sure I should". The figure laughs "Aww, what are you afraid of"? Enid looks at it wearily. "What is this coin"? The figure explains, there seems to be an echno to the figures voice "Its an ancient artifact. I like to collect things. It may be worth monitery gain considering how old it is". I ask you not trade it though, than I have to leave". Enid frowns "Why do you have to leave if I sell coin"? The figure laughs "Becuase I am cursed. I am attached to that coin. Please never lose it". Enid nods and turns to open the door "Its late, do not wake mother" she says. The Figure laughs "Of course not".
Next Morning:
Enid is sleeping in her bed when she awakens to a scream from downstairs. She tosses the sheets off of herself as she sprints down the stairway to the source of th scream. She arrivs downstiars and hears moaning from the kitchen. She runs to the kitchen to see the older woman on the floor. The floor is covered with a slick film. "Ugh.. My Back!" Enid runs over "M Mommy!" The older woman looks over at the young blonde child. "Call the Doctor! Get Murry!" Enid nods and grabs the phone and starts dialing. Someone awnsers the phone.
911? Hello! My mommy fell. Please send help. We live on 19934 Riverdale, Jerico, Area Code 93605". The Operator responds "Who is this? How old are you"? Enid responds in a panick "Im Enid. I am 6. I got to go!" The Operator responds "Dont hang up the phone, we are sending help"! Enid grabs the phone and sets it on the counter and runs to get her dad. "DADDY! DADDY! HELP! DADDY!"
Next Scene:
Abulance arrive at the scene to take away the injured woman. The young blonde watches as the car takes her mother away on a garney and her brothers are standing near the truck. "You know what they say dont you? Step on a crack and break your mothers back"! Enids eyes widen as she responds without thinking, looking down to see she is standing on a crack in the pavement. She jumps back "OH no! MOMMY!" She turns around to see who could have said it and sees no one is there. She hears a deep cackle "You know, that is a silly superstition the humans made up to feel safe right? Its not real". This time the voice is from the other side and Enid turns around again to see the figure from the previous night. Enid jumps back in shock "You! Where have you been hiding this whole time"? The figure doesnt respond for a moment and than explains "I been hiding in a secret spot" it tells her. "What spot"! Enids eyes narrow. The creature smirks "Oh, you will find out, dont worry child". Enid looks at the creature "Mommy is hurt!" The figure laughs "Yes, I can see that. Are you upset"? Enid frowns and shakes her head "This is my fualt!" The figure asks "Why... Would any of this be your fualt child?" Enid frowns "I just, everything is my fualt. Im a bad person. Mommy said I wasnt meant to be born". The figures glowing red pupiless eyes narrow "Oh, is that so"? Is that what she told you"? Enid starts to tear up. "Do not cry child. Its no good if you are unhappy. I can not handle that sort of negitive energy. You are a very special child, that guardian is just a vile insect. Do not cry for her suffering". Enid looks up "W What do you mean"?
The figure explains "I mean everything will be okay child. You are safe. Do you want her to be saved"? Enid looks up "Can you do that"? The figure laughs "I will give you anything you want child, just please do not cry alright. I need you to be happy". Enid frowns and nods and suddenly Enid hears her name being called and turns around. "Enid! Sweety!" An older man who has thinning hair runs over "Honey! Are you okay"! The young girl looks up as she is scooped into his arms. She wraps her arms around him as he pulls her into a hug. "Daddy, I think Mommy is gonna be OKAY!" Murray hugs her "Of course sweety! The ambulance is taking care of her". Enid shakes her head "No, Daddy my freind told me so"! Murray looks at her curiously "What freind"? Enid turns her head but the figure is gone "Nevermind, ill show you them later"!
