“Ugh!” Damian said, tossing his controller on the couch. “Stupid game.”
“What’s wrong?” Tim asked, looking up from his phone.
“I’m stuck in a wall,” Damian grumbled.
On-screen, the red-haired character was standing half-inside a rock wall.
Tim picked up the controller and tried to move the character forward. She moved forward a few steps, then hit an invisible barrier. “What did you do?” Tim asked, frowning.
“I didn’t do anything!” Damian said. “I’m in the middle of a battle and the thing hit me and then I glitched into the wall! I’m going to have to restart and start this battle all over again, aren’t I?”
“Hang on, let me see if I can just…” Tim pushed some buttons in rapid succession, and on screen the character jumped, then the item menu opened and closed, and she spun and glitched out of the wall.
“There you go,” Tim said, passing the controller back.
Damian took the controller and went back to fighting. “How’d you do that?” he asked, eyes glued to the screen.
“I watch a lot of speedrunner streamers who use glitches to cheat their way through the game as fast as possible,” he said. “I’ve picked a few things up.”
“That’s weird. But thanks.”
It was the best show of gratitude he would get out of Damian. “You’re welcome.”
On-screen, the robot creature he was fighting died, and Damian gave a victorious, “Yes!”
