Work Text:
Coming home from Starcourt, Mike and Lucas were trying to come up with ways to win the girls back after today’s fiasco.
Will was trailing behind them, mumbling as he thought of ideas for his campaign.
If Mike was being completely honest, he was interested in his friend’s campaign, but he promised himself at the beginning of the summer that he wouldn’t turn into one of those nerdy queers his dad told him he was, so El it was.
Lucas was saying something about maybe finding something that literally says ‘sorry’ this time, but Mike wasn’t really paying attention to his rambling.
Pulling into the Wheeler’s driveway, and throwing their bikes in the garage, Will pointed out that it looked like it was going to rain soon.
“Yeah, whatever,” Lucas replied, waddling inside.
The three boys trekked down to the basement, and Mike and Lucas continued their planning.
After half an hour or so, Will announced that his campaign was ready for playing, and he pulled his old purple robe from his backpack.
Although Will did look a little ridiculous, he was still pretty,
really pretty…
His hazel eyes and furrowed eyebrows. His soft pink lips compliment his tan skin.
Mike was snapped out of his thoughts by the phone ringing.
He and Lucas both jumped up at the sound, and ran over to the phone.
Mike pulled it off the wall to answer.
“El?”
“Hello, are you looking for medicare as yo-“
“No, sorry, not interested.”
Mike slammed the receiver back on the hook.
“Telemarketers.” He explained with a groan.
“Maybe we should just call them?” Lucas suggested.
“We can do that?” Mike replied.
“I think so.”
“But what would we say?”
Will cut Mike off, “You say nothing! The Khuisar tribe still needs your help.”
“Alright then,” Mike answered, “I’ll use my torch to set fire to the chambers, sacrificing ourselves, killing the Jujus, and saving the Khuisar. We all live on as heroes in the memories of Kalamar.”
“Victory,” Lucas exclaimed boringly and they high fived.
Will looked increasingly upset, taking Mike by surprise. It was a joke, Will wasn’t supposed to take that seriously.
“Fine, you win,” Will resented.
“Woah, hey we didn’t mean it, let’s finish the campaign for real this time! We’ll just call the girls afterward,” Mike said.
“Just forget it,” Will replied.
“Will, wait!”
“I said forget it Mike!” Will yelled at him.
Will never yells at him.
“I’m going home.” Will said walking away.
Will pushed Lucas aside, “Move!”
Mike followed Will up the stairs and out to his garage.
“You can’t go, it’s raining!
It’s a cool campaign, really cool. We’re just not in the mood right now,”
“Yeah! That’s the problem, Mike, you’re never in the mood anymore!”
Will paused, and then continued,
“You’re ruining our party!” Will accused.
“That’s not true!”
“Oh yeah? Where’s Dustin right now?”
Mike paused this time.
“See? You don’t know and you don’t even care, and obviously he doesn’t either, and I don’t blame him!
You’re destroying everything for what? To swap spit with some stupid girl!”
“No! I don’t like El! That’s the problem! And it’s your fault I don’t like girls!”
They both paused.
“What…?” Will asked.
“Nothing, just come inside, we can continue the campaign.”
“No. Did you say you don’t like girls?”
“…Yes.”
“And it’s my fault?”
“Yes.”
“Why is it my fault?”
A sudden confidence sprung up in Mike. Will already knows, he can’t ruin anything more.
“Because I’m fucking in love with you, Will.”
Will let out a small “What?”
“Since the day I met you on the swings, you haven’t left my head. It’s your fault. Your stupid cute hair, and stupid cute eyes, and stupid cute face, and stupid cute lips, and stu-“
He was cut off by Will grabbing his face and cupping his cheeks. Will pulled him in and kissed him.
Will obviously hadn’t kissed anymore before, but that kind of made Mike happy.
Mike tilted his head to the left, deepening the kiss.
He ran his hands down Will’s sides, settling at the small of his back.
Will trailed his hands to the back of Mike’s head, slightly pulling at the hair on the base of his nape, igniting a groan from Mike.
They pulled apart, still embracing each other, Will whispered an “Oh.”
“Oh.” Mike replied, with a small smile, that Will returned.
“Are you okay?” Will asked.
“Me? I’m more than okay.”
A sweet silence over took the two, just for a moment.
“I love you too,” Will whispered.
Mike dove back down to kiss Will again.
Folding lips over lips, pulling hair, tugging on fabric.
Maybe they shouldn’t be doing this where his neighbors can see.
Mike pulled away for a moment, picking Will up off his feet and spinning him around.
Will let out a small yelp, before Mike set him back down.
