Summary
This is set post War of the Ring, book-verse. It was inspired by the apparently apocryphal comment by JRR that "in the great War we were all orcs". It inspired me to think well, what about the orcs and Uruks and goblins AFTER Sauron and Saruman were gone? Would they hide, have lives, try to just move on?
Main character is Alanna, a human Gondorean who had to flee Gondor after killing her abusive husband. She ends up somewhere bad and is rescued by a tribe of Uruk-hai and orcs because she's a midwife and isn't scared just to talk to orcs.
Then she falls in love with an Uruk-hai who used to be one of Sauron's generals...
Trigger warnings: mentions of abuse, rape, descriptions of scarring from abuse, plenty of death and violence, mentions of domestic abuse. The sex is consensual. Promise.
