Chapter Text
“It’s time…to say goodbye now.” That's what she said, as her body became awash in a golden glow. A rainbow hung in the sky. The storm was over, at long last.
It would be beautiful, if it didn't hurt Lycoris so much. The little Cubone didn't want to say goodbye to her friend yet! She held onto the Aron’s side.
“Please!! Please. Not yet!!” She cried. “Just hang on a little longer!” Rain didn't fall from the sky, instead, tears fell from Lycoris’ eyes.
“I wish I could.” the hero sighed. “But I have no further purpose here. The world is saved, my dearest friend. My purpose is fulfilled, the reason for my creation. My body can not hold up any longer.” She didn't seem that sad, only disappointed, maybe even annoyed?
“It's not fair!! Why couldn't they have made you to last? Why now? Why don't you get to enjoy the world you saved with me?!” Lycoris sobbed.
“That is a mystery…that is not meant to be solved, I am afraid.” The Hero looks at the rainbow sky. She already feels like she enjoyed the world. She feels nothing but peace. Because this is the emotion she was designed to feel once she completed her mission.
“But right now, I just want to say…I am happy you will get to enjoy the world.” She says in a monotone, like all the rest of her words. “You’ll get to feel things I never could, and never will. You're very lucky, you know. Treasure this good fortune you have-”
“I CAN’T!!”
Lycoris shouts tearfully. “Not without you, I'll never be happy again!! How am I supposed to feel lucky when the one person who ever cared about me is going to die for no reason?!”
“There is a reason. There must be. I know there is.” The Hero looks even more disappointed now.
“It is just not one we can know.” Her body begins to glow brighter, bits of her are coming apart and turning into glowing light that floats upwards.
Lycoris looks on, devastated.
“If you really care about me in return…” The Hero hesitates. “Then do everything I could not. Alright? You hear me, right? I do not usually talk this much. So please listen. Live as only a true living person can.” She smiles, it's forced, and Lycoris knows it is forced.
“I ca-”
“Promise.” The Hero interrupts. “Promise me you’ll continue on as best you can.”
Lycoris hesitates. The light is growing stronger, half of The Hero’s face has already faded away.
“I promise.”
“Good. ” The Hero smiles.
Lycoris can't stop crying. She hugs The Hero tightly, trying to burn the sensation of warm metal, and the scent of rain and steel into her brain. So she never forgets.
“I think…I see…them.” The hero slurs in an emotionless voice. “It’s…finally…finally-”
And then it is gone.
The Hero is gone.
And Lycoris is alone.
