Resume

Summary:

Frankie decides to hit resume on their situationship with Jackson and Holt.

Notes:

I got two different prompts that were just "jackson/frankie/holt fluff" so. Here ya go!

Work Text:

Holt hums, drumming some pencils against the side of his locker, only for it to be shut by none other than Frankie Fine.

He beams, turning the volume on his headphones down just enough so he can hear her.

"Hey, Holt. I need to talk to you."

"What's up?"

"Well..." They bite the inside of their cheek. "You remember how, about a year ago, I put my relationships with you and Jackson on pause?"

Holt's eyes widen, realizing this is one of those serious relationship conversations Deuce has warned him about. "Yeah, totally."

How could he forget? He and Jackson spent a few weeks in utter agony, unable to talk to anyone, before they settled for their friendship. They still thought about what it would be like to have them as a girlfriend again-- er, partner, after they came out-- but they never acted on anything. Who would want to make Frankie choose? Especially when they were getting a new boyfriend every week. They were having fun, and these two mansters had no intention of ruining it.

Frankie taps their fingers along the spine of their notebook. "Well, I think I want to click the resume button."

Holt's mouth almost drops open, but he somehow keeps it together. "Uh... Do you want me to turn my music off so you can break the news to Jackson?"

"No, I'm not done with you yet. I've got... a bit of a proposition."

"I'm always open to propositions from you, Frankie fine." Holt winks, leaning cooly against his locker, his he isn't internally screaming against the background music keeping him him.

They smile, blushing. "I don't want to pick."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean... Why do I have to pick between the two of you?" They lean against the locker right next to Holt and Jackson's. "I've dated a bunch of people since... whatever I was with you two. My feelings for them usually overlap, and at one point, I was dating two people at once, and they were both okay with it. And all that time, I couldn't stop thinking about you two. I want that with you two. I want both of you, but only if you're both okay with it."

Holt stares at them for a few moments, thinking. He and Jackson have gotten comfortable with sharing their body in the time since the pause. If two people who aren't as close as he and Jackson literally are can be okay with Frankie loving them both, then why can't he and Jackson? Why can't they at least try, if it means they can get them back into their lives? Frankie's a one-of-a-kind monster (if you ignore the fact their mom and dad are the same kind of monster). Holt's not just going to drop the opportunity to get back with them.

"I'm cool with it."

Frankie smiles, making Holt's heart skip a beat. "Really?"

"Totally! I just want you happy, Frankie fine, and I want you with me. If you want Jackson, too, I'm totally cool with it. I, uh... I honestly haven't cared about anyone you've been dating since we happened. I've just missed you."

Frankie takes his hand with their free one, taking a step forward. "I've missed you, too."

Holt smiles, knowing what comes next. They both lean in, and they're kissing. Finally.

Frankie drops Holt's hand and pulls away from the kiss, taking a step back. "Jackson?"

Holt nos, fishing his phone out of his pocket and pausing his music. In a plume of cool fire, Holt's blue skin and red hair burns away to typical human tones. And then, Jackson.

He blinks, holding his head as if from a headache and looking around. "Frankie? Were you talking to Holt?"

They nod. "I want to date both of you."

Jackson blinks, still adjusting to being back in the waking world. "What?"

Frankie recaps everything they said to Holt with impressive patience, refusing to wish for a second that they were separate so they could tell them both at the same time. Frankie adores Holt and Jackson as they are. They wouldn't want anything to change, no matter how much easier it could be for them.

Jackson stares at Frankie for a moment before nodding. "If Holt's cool with it, and it'll make you happen, then sure. Does that make you my partner, then?"

"It does," they smile, and take Jackson's free hand. He knows what that means, closing his eyes as Frankie tugs him over for a kiss.

Jackson smiles, pulling away as the class bell chimes. "When can I see you again?"

"I can take you out to dinner tonight, and I'll look into some concert tickets for Holt."

"Sweet. It's a date."

"A date," they nod and walk off towards their next class.

Jackson watches them go, joy surging through his veins as they disappear. "I've got a date with Frankie Stein!" He beams, covering his mouth with his hands and bouncing in place. "I've got a date with Frankie Stein!"

He scoops up his things and books it to music theory, more than ecstatic. How could he not be? He and Holt are going out with Frankie fine Stein!
