it's a calm night. away from crossroads, the bustling loud city, is your home. thieves' den. your eyes slowly open as you feel a blanket being draped over your shoulders. looking back, your eyes meet the eyes of katana's mask, and you smile. "thank you." you hum, hugging the blanket close to you. "you didn't have to bring this all the way from your home.." he shakes his head. "it's cold this late at night. don't freeze yourself, little one." his voice was quiet.
you nod in affirmation, "don't worry. it's just... i've missed this.. this place." you shrug, "it's nice to be back." you sigh. your gaze drifts to katana yet again as he moves to sit beside you. "you should get some rest, tana." you tilt your head slightly. katana hums, "there is no need and no time to rest for me." he replied.
you raise an eyebrow, "and you're here with me because..?" you teased. katana was quiet for a moment before meeting your eyes, "i have.. missed your company." his reply was straightforward. your eyes raise in surprise of his honesty, you forgot how katana is. "i-.. i missed you too." you chuckle, hoping he doesn't notice the way your face flush slightly, and if he did, you hope you could blame it on the cold.
the two of you sat in silence, the night sound around you, making you yawn. katana looks at you at the sound, tilting his head. "are you tired, little one?" he asks. you shake your head but another yawn that rips out of you betrays that response, "no... it's just.. since i got back yesterday, i've done nothing but see everyone again." you laugh tiredly. katana nods, standing up. "would you like me to carry you back to your residence?" he offers. you quickly hold up your hand, "n-no thank you! no need. i can... walk there by myself." you nervously laugh.
you might be seeing things because you're tired but you swear katana's shoulders drop slightly. "i see. well, goodnight, my friend." he pats your shoulder. you nod, "do you want your blanket-" you were about to return it to him but katana cuts you off with a raise of his hand, "no need. you may return it tomorrow."
"oh! thank you.." you hide further in the blanket. katana nods once again as he bids you farewell. you smile and waved, which he returned as he walked away. when his figure disappears you let out a sigh, you wanted to spend more time... but you can't deny the way your body is becoming more tired. you yawn again as you walk back to your house, one thought lingers in the back of your head.
the blanket smells nice.
