Work Text:

Two young boys are left with piles of boxes in front of an apartment building, both grinning excitedly.
“Text him!” Our lead character, Kim Namjoon, says to the first supporting role, his best friend, Jung Hoseok, who immediately fishes out his smartphone and types rapidly on the touch-screen. And then they grin even more.
“Heeeeeeyhoooo!” A loud holler is heard above them. Both boys look up and see the other supporting role, another best friend, Min Yoongi, waving from the fourth floor, “Wait there! Don’t move!”
“Pfft, like we were going to move anywhere,” Hoseok snorts after the older of them all has disappeared from the balcony. Namjoon doesn’t give any answer but he snorts along.
After a few minutes, the front gate of the apartment building beeps and the glass door opens, revealing the brighter skinned boy grinning.
“Long time no see!” Yoongi cheers.
“We met a month ago, Yoongi,” Namjoon laughs.
“Hey, it’s a hyung for you! I’m a fucking sophomore and you both are freshmen! Show some respect!” Yoongi elbows Nmjoon’s tummy.
“Sorry, Yoongi,” Hoseok snorts, “I don’t fancy hyung-kink,”
“Okay, stop it. We have jobs to do,” Namjoon points the pile of boxes. And then they start working to move the boxes on to fourth floor.
Namjoon and Hoseok are both freshmen to the same college with Yoongi. Because Yoongi’s a year older than them, he’s been studying at the college a year longer than both. Their college’s an all-boys college. And the reason are?
1) Namjoon hates pretty people, and pretty is almost identical to girls, because he thinks pretty people usually do their jobs with their looks while their brains mostly empty. That’s why he thinks he’s going to find some peace out of girls stuff at an all-boys college. And of course the fact that Yoongi studies there has a big part. And also he has an order from Hoseok’s parents; let’s figure what it is soon on Hoseok’s point.
2) Yoongi chose the college because it’s far from his hometown so he can learn how to be independent. Well, of course, it’s not true. It’s Min Yoongi we’re talking about. When he was choosing his college, he closed his eyes. Yeap.
3) Hoseok was forced into the college because his parents thought there were too many girls in Hoseok’s life that they had to cut it all. And both of his best friends are going there, they commanded both Namjoon and Yoongi to lock Hoseok in the flat alone as punishment if he goes too far with girls (“as if I’m going to meet one. It’s an all-boys college, for God’s sake!” Hoseok whined).
They’ve agreed moving in together at Yoongi’s flat. Sharing the rent fee in three’s going to be cheaper. Now Namjoon and Hoseok have just arrived at Yoongi’s apartment building, ten days early to the opening ceremony because they’re excited to know their neighborhood first. Also both Namjoon and Hoseok are going to find some part-time jobs around there, and Yoongi’s going to help them since he’s had two. Yoongi’s also promised to give them tour. But, for today, they decide it can wait because 1) they’re tired as fuck (“Damn, Guys! What did you bring along anyway, all furniture in your houses?!” Yoongi whines.) and then 2) they’re going to hold a private welcome party for both Namjoon and Hoseok, which means beers, beers, beers, and cheese.
Three of them groan happily when the alcohol touches their throats.
“Oh, my God!” Hoseok moans, “This is life!”
Yoongi snorts, “You just don’t know how college is.”
“Don’t be a spoiler bastard,” Namjoon throws the empty cheese box to Yoongi, whom throw it back to Namjoon.
“Ah, I’m not going to meet girls there,” Hoseok fakes sob, “I’m going to lose my Casanova skill.”
“Don’t worry, Man,” Yoongi grins, “There are some women there—”
“Really??” Hoseok cuts Yoongi, “How do they look? How do they enter the college??”
“—if you’re into milfs, of course, the teachers, you know?”
Namjoon laughs hard until he falls off the sofa while Hoseok threatens to throw his can to Yoongi’s face.
“Fuck you, Yoongi!” Hoseok growls but his grin doesn’t disappear.
“Nope! I can take care myself!” Yoongi shakes his head and they fall into laughter once again.
“Seriously,” Namjoon pants after the laughter has died into chuckle, “I’m glad we can get to gather once again,”
“Yeah, it’s been a while without you, Man!” Hoseok pats Yoongi’s back. The latter just groans.
“As much as I love you, Guys. I don’t want to do group hug. We’re not teletubbies. It’s not our thing,” Yoongi groans.
“Gosh! You’re such a mood ruiner!” Namjoon laughs and shoves Yoongi until the latter rolls off the sofa.
“I’m glad you’re here though,” Yoongi grins and slings his arms around his best friends’ shoulders.
Three of them raise the new cans of beer and cheer. The night’s still too young.
It takes four days and fifteen hours for Namjoon and Hoseok (well, mainly Namjoon) to find that Yoongi has a boyfriend. A cute one too. It’s the morning after another round of beers the night before when they find it out. Namjoon’s the first one awakened by the sunlight. Grunting, he tries to stand up but the goddamned empty can sends him back to the ground right on his ass.
“Careful,” Hoseok groans, “don’t be so loud!”
Namjoon groans his ‘sorry’ and stands up again, heading toward their only one bathroom. After brushing his teeth and washing his face, he goes back to the living room just to find Hoseok not there. From the sound, he can tell that Hoseok’s making something at the kitchen. He looks at the blond older man sprawling on the carpet and sits down beside the body.
Namjoon thanks Hoseok when he brings Namjoon a glass of icy water and the aspirin. He looks back at Yoongi’s sprawling position, after swallowing the medicine, and scratches his head, “What do we do with this corpse?”
“You know how Yoongi’s like when we wake him up. I don’t want to deal with his shit. Just let him sleep until he’s hungry. He’ll wake up eventually,” Hoseok whines and stretches his hand over his head, some cracking sounds are heard.
“What are we going to do today?” Namjoon asks, relaxing on the sofa.
“I don’t know. We toured around the neighborhood, introduced ourselves to them, we basically have done everything,” Hoseok says, “Oh, just rest! We’re too hangover to get up.”
“Yeah, that’s a good idea,” Namjoon nods and sighs. The silence’s comfortable that he almost falls back sleep when suddenly a loud ringtone goes off.
“Is it yours?” Namjoon asks Hoseok whom immediately shake his head, “It’s also not mine. I think it’s Yoongi’s.”
“Hey, dead man,” Hoseok kicks Yoongi’s leg, “Wake up. Someone’s calling you,”
Yoongi gives them a guttural sound but he doesn’t wake up until the ringtone dies down. Namjoon rolls his eyes. If it was one of their parents, Namjoon’s or Hoseok’s phone will ring soon. But, there’s none. When Namjoon thinks it’s safe to close his eyes to sleep, the bell rings.
“Ugh, go get it!” Hoseok orders him sleepily.
“And why not you?”
“I’m older than you,”
“By five fucking months! It doesn’t make sense!”
But, the bell’s still ringing and Hoseok has fallen back asleep. Namjoon really wants to ignore the ringing bell, but he’s afraid that it’s an important guest for Yoongi (since it’s impossible for him or Hoseok because they’re new at the apartment). So, even though he grumbles, he rubs his eyes and meets the door.
“Yes?” Namjoon says as he opens the door. In front of him, there’s a boy, obviously a preteen from how he looks like, and has a really cute face, not kind of cute that makes Namjoon’s heart flips but kind of cute that reminds him of a pug. The boy’s holding a very large stuffed plastic bag and showing him a bright smile.
“Hello, I’m sorry for disturbing you, but Yoongi hyung didn’t pick his phone up and I’ve been here for a while.” He says with a nice voice, “You must be one of Yoongi hyung’s best friends he was talking about!”
“Uh,” Namjoon scratches his head and nods, “Yeah, I’m Kim Namjoon, and you are…?”
“I’m Park Jimin,” he says with a cheerful tone, “I’m Yoongi hyung’s boyfriend!”
“Oh,” Namjoon nods again and then he realizes something, “Huh?!”
The grey haired boy lets the boy, Jimin, in, still trying to register what Jimin has just told him.
Boyfriend? Yoongi has a boyfriend?? Yoongi’s gay?? Since when?? What?? Wait, did I mishear this Jimin? Maybe he says he’s a friend, not boyfriend. But—
“I guessed it. I knew he was still asleep,” Jimin sighs, waking Namjoon up from the war in his head.
He watches Jimin putting down the plastic bag and walks toward the sprawling Yoongi. Namjoon sits down and nudges Hoseok up.
“What?” Hoseok groans, “Let me sleep,”
“We have guest,” Namjoon half-whispers.
Hoseok looks up and frowns his eyebrows, questioning to Namjoon. The latter shrugs. Just when Jimin’s about to wake Yoongi up, both of them frantically shouts, “Don’t!”
Jimin turns his head, “Why? I’m only waking him up…”
“Don’t! Seriously! You don’t know how bitch he is if someone wakes him up from his dead sleep!” Hoseok explains quickly.
Jimin laughs and shakes his head, “I’ve done this so many times. Don’t worry.”
Namjoon watches as Jimin’s leaning closer to Yoongi (he’s going red, because he’s not ready to see his best friend getting PDA-ed(?). Hell, he’s not even ready to accept that Yoongi has a freaking boyfriend!). But suddenly a high-pitched ‘Hyung!’ is thundering the whole flat. Namjoon’s shocked. Hoseok’s even more shocked. And Yoongi blinks his eyes to life.
“Good morning, wait, afternoon to be exact,” Jimin says after that and smiles brightly to the oldest of them all.
“Jimin?” Yoongi speaks and yawns, “When did you get here?”
“Not long ago, Namjoon hyung let me in,” Jimin answers smoothly.
Now, Namjoon and Hoseok are obviously more shocked than ever because 1) that Jimin boy dares to wake the lion up and 2) the said lion, which usually beats the shit out of them if they try to wake him up, is smiling back sleepily and freaking kissing Jimin’s head.
“Okay!” Hoseok suddenly interrupts, “Can anyone tell me what the fuck is going on?”
“Errm,” Yoongi scratches the back of his head and smiles awkwardly, “Let me introduce you. This is Park Jimin, my boyfriend.”
Now Namjoon only can nod stupidly because he finally gets the real confirmation from his best friend himself. He waits for Hoseok to shout his lungs out (just because he really knows how Hoseok can be so much hyperbolic person ever), but he doesn’t hear anything. He turns his face and watches Hoseok grinning happily.
“Woohoo! Congratulation!” Hoseok laughs, “It’s about time you get boyfriend for yourself! I thought you’d be a lonely single forever! Hi, Jimin! I’m Hoseok! And this is Kim Namjoon and—”
Hoseok’s words are fading out. If only Namjoon could be more shocked, because Hoseok knows Yoongi into guys? The fact’s more flabbergasting than anything. Namjoon knows Hoseok’s freaking dense and he knows about Yoongi!
“To be honest,” Jimin’s voice is heard, once again waking Namjoon up from his roaming state, “I have a part-time to do in half an hour. I’m really sorry but I really need to excuse myself now. Nice to meet you, Hyungs! Oh, and please be free to visit me at the coffee shop I work at,”
After bidding goodbye, the front door shuts once again.
“He’s really cute!” Hoseok grins approvingly to Yoongi.
“Hey! Don’t ever you try to touch him!” Yoongi smacks Hoseok’s head playfully.
“How dare you?! Why didn’t you tell me??” Namjoon shrieks.
Hoseok laughs, “He really wanted to surprise us with his new boyfriend.”
“Well, yeah…I said I was about to—”
“No, Guys!” Namjoon stops them, “I mean…Yoongi, since when are you gay?! No offense, but why didn’t you tell me?! Hoseok, since when do you know about this?! Why didn’t you tell me also?!”
Both of his best friends blink dumbly.
“Well,” Hoseok purses his lips, “Yoongi also didn’t tell me but—”
“Isn’t that kind of,” Yoongi frowns, “obvious…?”
“Huh??” Namjoon gapes.
“And you said I was dense, Namjoon?? Seriously??” Hoseok groans, “Yoongi’s been gay since forever! I mean, didn’t you see how he watched ‘No Breathing’???”
“I thought he was ogling over the main actress??”
“You’re stupid!” Hoseok raises his arms in defeat and leans back to the sofa.
Namjoon swallows and looks at Yoongi for explanation. Yoongi scratches his head.
“I don’t know. I mean, I came out to my mom—(“Even your mom knows?!” Namjoon groans. Yoongi ignores this.)—when I was seventeen. And she said she was okay. So, uhm, I met Jimin at the coffee shot he works at until now. He spilled my coffee over my shirt and he promised to wash it (“Aw! What a drama!” Hoseok coos.). And we were kind of hanging out together after that. So, uh, yeah.”
Namjoon gulps all the icy water in his glass and groans because of brain freeze. He looks at both Yoongi and Hoseok and says, “I really didn’t know about that!”
Yoongi rolls his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” Namjoon sighs, “So, what now? Do you have something to tell me too, Hoseok?”
“No,” Hoseok grins, “And why are you so shocked that Yoongi has a boyfriend? Aren’t you too?”
“Am I what?”
“Into guys?”
“I’m not!” Namjoon stands up but then sits back down, “Well, I don’t know but I had a girlfriend, remember?”
Yoongi snorts, “That noona next door can’t be counted. I mean, hell, she was like five years older than you and she said yes to you because you were only ten back then. And now you hate girls.”
“I didn’t say I hated girls! I hate pretty people! It’s different!”
Hoseok and Yoongi exchange glances and both roll their eyes.
“I’m hungry, I’ll warm the food Jimin brought up,” Yoongi announces and leaves to the kitchen with the plastic bag. And Hoseok sings, “I got to pee!”, leaving dumbfounded Namjoon at the living room.
Curtain closes. Applause.
After the discontinued conversation, Namjoon drops the topic and goes as usual. It’s not weird thing if Yoongi’s into guys though. Why does he bother to bring it up? Jimin’s a nice boy after all. He now knows that Jimin’s on his last year of high school thirty minutes’ walk from their apartment building that’s why he often drops some food, knowing the fact none of them eligible to cook. So, he accepts Jimin to be part of them. Uhm, maybe he’s still not getting used to Yoongi and Jimin’s small pecks, but it can wait. It’s not like them having sex in front of his poor eyes anyway.
Day by day passes fast until it’s a day before the opening ceremony. Namjoon’s ironed a pair of clothes he’s going to wear tomorrow, hanging it neatly. Beside his, Hoseok’s are also being hung.
“Where are your clothes for tomorrow?” Namjoon asks Yoongi whose mouth full of marshmellows.
Yoongi chews them first and then answers Namjoon with a snort, “I did that ironing-clothes-for-tomorrow shit when I was a freshman. Now that I’m a sophomore, I don’t think that ritual suits me,”
“Fucking boasting,” Namjoon grumbles and sits beside him.
“What are we going to do on opening ceremony?” Hoseok, whose eyes still on the game he was playing on his phone, asks.
“Introduction, speeches mainly from the head of university, and then the dean and then the president of student body, and some entertainment stuff,” Yoongi’s answer’s muffled by the new marshmellows in his mouth and then he grumbles, “But, usually the freshmen get to wander around the college on first and second day, while the upper graders get into lessons immediately. Fucking unfair.”
Hoseok laughs, telling about ‘You’ve got your era! Now’s ours, Gramps!’ but Namjoon’s not really sure because his phone rings and it’s from his mother. She tells him not to stay up late for tomorrow ceremony and not to skip meals.
After reassuring his mother that he’ll do everything she asked him to, she finally hangs up and suddenly the clock has its pointers to ten o’ clock. When he gets back to the living room, both Yoongi and Hoseok are fixing mess.
“I thought you weren’t that excited for tomorrow?” Namjoon asks Yoongi, “So, why bother to sleep early?”
“Brat,” Yoongi says, “being not that excited doesn’t mean I have to get myself late for it. Come on, help us moving the coffee table and the sofa so we can fix our mattresses.”
Because the flat they share is a medium studio with mini kitchen and bathroom, they have to move the coffee table and sofa aside to sleep.
“Good night, Buds,” Someone whispers as the light’s been turned off, Namjoon’s not sure who but he replies it before closing his eyes.
Being with your best friends is nice.
The morning comes so fast. The alarm goes off and Namjoon hurriedly jumps off the mattresses. He shakes Hoseok and kicks Yoongi up before claiming the bathroom. Hoseok gets the second turn while Yoongi’s busy warming up the leftover food (Jimin brought, of course) in the microwave. They eat the warm meal and lock the door before quickly walking out of the building to catch the bus.
“I’ve got to go this way,” Yoongi points the left path after they’ve arrived in front of the college; “The freshmen go to the hall. Let’s meet up during the lunch break, yeah?”
Agreeing the unofficial promise, that they usually do anyway, the freshmen walk toward the path, following the other (people looking like) freshmen. After a few minutes of walking, they arrive in front of the hall. The officials of student body give them badges (“Just to make sure you’re real freshmen, not some upper graders trying to disguise as ones,”). They enter the hall and are surprised over the amount of students attending the college.
“Oh, well…” Hoseok trails off, “Everyone seems to have at least a friend to chat to. I’m glad I’m not alone now.”
Namjoon can’t agree more. They then choose the middle row of the seats and sit there awkwardly. An official of student body comes up to the stage, silencing them because the ceremony’s about to start. The light’s turned off. The spotlight appears in the middle of stage and a boy (well, yeah of course it’s a boy) steps on to the stage and greets them. He talks about rules and other stuff before finally the head of university steps to give her (yes, her) speech, following by the dean and then when the MC calls the president of student body, Namjoon’s world freezes.
Kim Namjoon, the guy hating pretty people so much, feels his heart flipping out, rolling around in his ribcage because a pretty president of student body.
“Hi, Guys,” The president greets them with a bright smile Namjoon thinks he’s going to die, “I’m Kim Seokjin, your president of student body.”
Seokjin halts and he looks around until his eyes meets Namjoon’s and the latter thinks his world’s bursting into colorful flowers.
(Namjoon hates flowers.)
“Earth to Namjoon!”
Namjoon blinks and looks at Hoseok flicking his fingers in front of Namjoon’s face. He looks around and finds the hall’s nearly empty, the freshmen has started walking out the hall to explore their new college.
“Did you fall asleep with your eyes open?” Hoseok scrunches his face, “Because, Man, it was a terrifying sight to be honest.”
Namjoon frowns and finds the stage empty. The pretty president of student body’s long gone.
“Where’s everybody?” Namjoon asks.
Hoseok rolls his eyes and leaves Namjoon. The latter quickly follows his best friend and walks in silent.
“Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?!” Hoseok snaps, “You’re scaring me right now!”
“Why?” Namjoon whines.
Hoseok stops walking and looks at him with disgusted face, “Did you just…whine to me?”
Namjoon blinks.
Hoseok blinks. Hoseok runs away, leaving Namjoon alone in the middle of hallway.
Sighing, Namjoon starts walking. They’ll be meeting at lunch break anyway. He pulls out the map from his backpack and starts exploring the college building. It’s surely wide and complete with facilities. Namjoon can only awe everything around him because, hell, the college’s so different from his high school. He’s about to turn left toward where the music studio’s located when he bumps slightly into another student.
“Oops, sorry,” the voice says. And Namjoon’s world bursts into another wave of colorful flowers because, damn, it’s Kim Seokjin!
“Uh—hmm—it’s okay,” Namjoon manages to stutter and he mentally slaps his head because, stuttering? Really?
“Hey, you’re a freshman,” Seokjin smiles (I’m too tired to explain how Namjoon’s reaction goes, you should know by now), pointing at the badge Namjoon has on his chest, “If you paid attention my speech before, you should know my name by now, but I’m Kim Seokjin.”
“I know,” Namjoon chuckles awkwardly, “I’m, uhm, Kim Namjoon,”
“Nice to meet you, Namjoon,” Seokjin grins, “So, are you exploring the college?”
Namjoon nods.
“Are you alone?”
Namjoon nods again.
“Okay, I’ll accompany you then,”
Namjoon no—“Wait, what??”
Seokjin looks at him in confusion, “Uhm, I’ll come with you and give you a tour?”
Namjoon gapes.
“If…you don’t mind, of course,” Seokjin trails off.
“Of course, no!” Namjoon answers too fast and clears his throat, “I mean, yeah, of course I don’t mind, Seokjin-ssi,”
“Just call me hyung,” Seokjin smiles wider.
Namjoon may or may not be falling for the president of student body.
After an hour of tour, Seokjin, much of Namjoon’s dismay, has to excuse himself because he has something to do. Namjoon bids him goodbye and he promises to meet Namjoon later. It’s an hour before the lunch break so he decides to wait for his best friends at the cafeteria.
Someone wakes him up with a harsh elbow on his arm. Groaning, Namjoon blinks to life and meets Yoongi’s face.
“Hey,” Yoongi grins, “Where’s Hoseok?”
“I don’t know,” Namjoon answers, “He left me right after the ceremony,”
Yoongi raises his eyebrows and looks like about to ask when the table being slammed by an overexcited Hoseok.
“Damn!” Hoseok pants, “The college’s freaking awesome!”
Yoongi grins proudly, “Of course!”
Hoseok looks at sleepy Namjoon and snatches Yoongi away, “Don’t get near him!”
The oldest of the three frowns, “What? Why? Are you guys having a catfight?”
“Nooooo! Namjoon was acting weird before! He fucking whined at me, fucking whined!” Hoseok shields Yoongi and chokes Namjoon, “Who are you?! What are you doing to Namjoon?! Get out of there, satan, and fight meeeeee!”
“Hey! Hey! Hey!” Another voice joins in and pulls Hoseok off coughing Namjoon. Seokjin’s face comes to Namjoon’s view but he’s too busy coughing.
“Why did you choke him?!” Seokjin’s voice is audible, full of authority (Namjoon thinks he doesn’t mind to be ordered with that tone), “Were you guys fighting?! On your first day?!”
“No—” Namjoon manages to pants between his cough, “No, Hyung. We weren’t fighting.”
“But—but he choked you. God, Namjoon, are you okay?” Seokjin asks, crouching down beside him, sounding worried (authority!Seokjin’s hot, but worried!Seokjin FTW!).
Namjoon chuckles and nods, “I’m okay, Hyung. It’s just my best friend having his moment (“Who are you, Satan?!” Hoseok shouts, being held by embarrassed Yoongi)”
Seokjin looks at Yoongi and then turns back to Namjoon, “You know Yoongi?”
“We’re best friends, Hyung,” Yoongi explains, “With this guy also—Hoseok, shut the fuck up or I’ll shove my shoe down your throat!”
“What an interesting best friend you have there,” Seokjin laughs and helps Namjoon to get on his feet, “Are you sure you’re okay, Namjoon? I can walk you to the nurse office if you need.”
Namjoon nods and smiled (he tries to smile nicely and not to look like constipated), “I’m really okay.”
“Okay then,” Seokjin sighs, “I’ll grab myself, uhm, lunch. You should do that too before the line’s getting too long.”
“I’ll do it soon,”
“Well, yeah, I guess see you later, Namjoon,” Seokjin smiles, “And Yoongi, and Hoseok…right? See you, Guys around.”
And then Seokjin walks away, scratching his nape nervously. Namjoon finds it so cute and keeps staring at the president of student body’s back.
“Ohh,” Yoongi suddenly says and grins to Hoseok, “There’s not satan in his body, Hoseok. I think I know why he was acting weird like what you said,”
Hoseok looks at Namjoon and then to Seokjin’s back and then he grins together with Yoongi, “Oho~”
“You’re soooooo fucking whipped, Namjoon!” Yoongi laughs, “And I thought you said you hated pretty people?”
The accused one goes red, “No—what—what—I’m not—”
“Fucking whipped~!” Both of Yoongi and Hoseok mock him.
Namjoon’s done with life.
From there, Namjoon doesn’t see any acceleration for their relationship. Seokjin’s being Seokjin, helping him with tasks, walking around together, sometime having lunch together in the cafeteria. But, most of the moments, Yoongi and Hoseok are always annoyingly presence like a pimple on the tip of nose.
Sometime Namjoon will try to flirt, earning another pair of faint blush on Seokjin’s cheeks, but rather than continuing the mission Namjoon chooses to back down again because who can resist Seokjin seriously? He doesn’t want to get heartache (“Man up, will you?” Yoongi grumbles at his reason).
One time between the timeline, Namjoon tries to confess—
(“Seokjin Hyung,” Namjoon starts, “I—I—I like—”
“Yes…?” Seokjin whispers.
“I like grilled squid!”)
—yeah, it’s a fail.
“Argh,” Hoseok groans, throwing his head down to Taehyung’s shoulder (he’s a friend of Jimin, the almighty girl-player Hoseok’s interested in him, save the story, can you imagine?!), “Just confess to him already, Namjoon! You make me going nuts!”
Namjoon, who’s in the middle of daydreaming about Seokjin, snaps his head,
“What—no—I can’t do that!”
Yoongi grunts something sound like and hides his face on the crook of Jimin’s neck.
“Can you—guys—” Namjoon yells, “Can you guys stop doing PDA in front of me?!”
“Then just confess already, you little piece of poop!” Yoongi shouts and throws his slipper to Namjoon, “Your sexual frustration’s annoying! Go confess to him and fuck the daylight out of him (“Hyung!” Jimin whines) already!”
“I’m not getting the right moment yet!”
“You’ve said that since three months ago, you shitface!” Hoseok rages.
“You guys are not helping!”
“Get out!” Both Yoongi and Hoseok shout and kick him out of the flat.
“YAH!” Namjoon bangs the door, “Open up! It’s my flat too! I pay the share!”
Muffled, “Go away, Namjoon!” is heard from inside. Sending a last kick to the door, Namjoon grumblingly walks down the building, figuring what he has to do next out.
He decides he’ll go to the college library and sleep there. It’ll be a nice idea. So, he catches the bus and picks the back seat.
After fifteen minutes, he arrives at his college. Not wasting any second, he walks down the path leading to the library. He’s about to enter the building when he sees someone familiar with another unfamiliar one, Seokjin and some other student.
What makes Namjoon’s heart breaks is the moment when the other student holds Seokjin hand and—no, Namjoon doesn’t want to see more of it. He walks out of the scene—more like runs away to be honest.
He doesn’t know how he manages to arrive back safely at their flat but he ignores the stares from his best friends and his best friends’ boyfriends and goes straightly to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water.
“Namjoon?” Hoseok comes together with Yoongi, “You look like a truck having beaten your soul off your body.”
Namjoon stays silent.
“Okay, you’re scaring me,” Yoongi sighs, “So, what’s wrong?”
Namjoon feels both hands on his shoulders and sighs heavily, “Seokjin has a boyfriend,”
“Huh?” Yoongi’s answer comes out as a question.
Namjoon sighs again, “Yes, he does,”
“So what if he has one?” Hoseok groans, “Just tell him you like him!”
“I can’t do that!” Namjoon shakes his head, “No, just—no.”
“I think Hoseok’s right,” Yoongi nods, “Just tell him you like him. And you’ll know whether he has boyfriend or not. You don’t even know it’s really his boyfriend or not, right?”
“No,” Namjoon insists.
“Oh, Namjoon! Just tell him you like him and if he rejects you, you can come back home crying and we’ll patch your broke heart!”
“No!”
“Yes!”
Namjoon frowns, “Why are you guys so persistent?”
Hoseok hisses, “Because you’re acting like a girl!”
“I’m not a girl!” Namjoon groans.
“Then confess to him!” Yoongi groans.
Namjoon rubs his face and nods weakly, “Okay, whatever. Now I don’t want to deal with it.”
Yoongi and Hoseok send both of their boyfriends out of their flat and they spend the night by comforting Namjoon with Frozen.
(“Seriously, Guys?” Namjoon groans.
“Shut up,” Yoongi whispers.
“Enjoy the movie! You can cry over freezing Anna and crying Elsa,” Hoseok continues.
“You’re the worst best friends ever!”)
It takes a month and three weeks for Namjoon to meet Seokjin alone again, accidentally, at the library. He tries to act normal and ignores the fact he’s just got broken heart by the fu—no, Namjoon can’t say Seokjin a bad name (because holy shit, Seokjin looks so fucking nice with a pair of glasses hanging on his node bridge, and fuck, the cardigan suits hi—)
“Namjoon?” Seokjin looks up to him and smiles questioningly.
Because, crap, how did he get beside the table Seokin’s reading book at?!
“Uhm—” Namjoon starts, trying to hide his confusion (because his feet just betrayed him!) and smiles awkwardly, “Hi, Hyung…”
Seokjin smiles wider and pats the space beside him, “Sit down.”
Okay, that escalates too fast. Namjoon’s not ready to sit beside Seokjin! He’s not ready he should go quickly he’s not rea—and he sits down obediently.
“It’s been a while since I met you. Do you need something here?” Seokjin asks and glances to the hugeass files sticking out Namjoon’s backpack, “You have assignment?”
“Yeah, due to tomorrow and I haven’t done anything,” Namjoon sighs. Wow, the calmness in his act surprises him himself.
“Let me see,” Seokjin leans closer to take the files. Namjoon’s trying hard not to kiss that cheek near to his face (damn, Seokjin smells like apple and grass it really does not make Namjoon a little die inside, no).
“Oh,” Seokjin chuckles, “I’ve done this assignment before when I was at your grade. The teacher’s really not creative, seriously. He gave Yoongi the same assignment too. Do you want me to help you, Namjoon?”
The younger can’t resist it and nods. Seokjin breathes an ‘okay’ and spread the files widely on the table before explaining everything to Namjoon, giving him so many booklist as reference.
“Excuse me,” The librarian stands beside their table, “We’re really sorry but we’re about to close.”
Namjoon blinks and looks around. Wow, the library’s empty. It’s six pm, no wonder. How the time flew so fast, Namjoon doesn’t have idea. They bow to the librarian, apologizing because they’re not aware of the time and start packing their stuff.
“I think we’ll meet again later, yeah?” Seokjin asks in front of the library when they’re about to separate.
“Yeah,” Namjoon smiles, “Thanks for the help, Hyung. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Okay, that sounds so cheesy and sends the red color to Namjoon’s cheek. But, seeing the faint blush on Seokjin’s cheeks isn’t bad either. Seokjin’s fucking pretty it hurts, but Namjoon can bring himself to hate the president of student body. Perhaps, because the mindset of the pretty people doing good with their faces doesn’t work on Seokjin (hell, he’s not president of student body for nothing, yo!) so Namjoon makes an exception for him. And also, as much as Namjoon hates to admit that he has a major heartbreaker in front of him; Seokjin’s smile does something to his heart.
Seokjin bids him goodbye with a last smile and turns around to walk down the path. There’s an evil Hoseok groaning in his ear, telling him to confess already, at least to lift the weight from his heart. But, his brain’s telling him he’s not ready. But, the evil Yoongi is heard and keeps shouting to him until his mouth betrays him.
“Seokjin Hyung!” Namjoon can hear his own voice.
No—no—no—don’t confess don’t—he has a boyfriend, goddammit!
“Yes?” Seokjin turns around to face him.
Oh, fuck it! Fuck his boyfriend! Fuck everything!
“I like you.”
Smooth, Namjoon! Now deal with your soon-to-be broken heart!
Namjoon watches the red going up on Seokjin’s face. He really wants to kiss Seokjin right now but then he remembers about the boy holding Seokjin’s hand back then. The mental image breaks a brick in his head as they fall into silence.
“But, well, but, I know, you don’t like me,” Namjoon continues with a pathetic chuckle, “I just want you to know, Hyung,”
“Huh?” Seokjin breathes, face full of confusion, “Namjoo—”
“I know you have a boyfriend. I saw him.” Namjoon starts again, trying to hold himself together as Seokin walks closer. He tries hard not to look up, “Uhm, yeah, I hope we can still be friends after this. I mean I know you’ll be so awkward, so will I. Haha. Well, of course we need some time to adapt again, wait, I think I need that time, not you. I’ll deal with this heartbreak and I promise I’ll be good again but for now I think I nee—”
A pair of lips stops him.
A pair of Seokjin’s lips stops him.
Wait, what—?
Seokjin leans away five seconds that feel like a year later and chuckles, “You’re cute when you’re rambling like that,”
Namjoon freezes. Seokjin keeps smiling. Namjoon kisses him again properly.
Okay.
Whoever Seokjin’s boyfriend is can temporarily go to hell because Namjoon’s going to enjoy every second of their kiss and no one can stop him, not even Seokjin’s fucking boyfriend. Nope.
He secretly thanks Yoongi and Hoseokfor forcing him to confess—
(—or not. He knows later that the boy’s named Hyosang and he’s not Seokjin’s boyfriend from Seokjin himself and he asks Namjoon why Yoongi didn’t tell him.
“You’ve known it along the way and you didn’t tell me?!” Namjoon screams at Yoongi and Hoseok.
Yoongi laughs, “I’d ruin the drama if I told you!”
“Of course, he didn’t have boyfriend before, he kept asking us about you. He obviously falls for you and you, as I said, are a fucking dense motherfucker!” Hoseok flips a bird to him.
“I HATE YOU BOTH, YOU GODDAMN ASSHOLES!”)
