Sonic spun through a loopdiloop ahead of Metal Sonic, who shredded the ground as it tore after him. Sonic's acrobatics grabbed him rings, but he sacrificed speed as he went up, and Metal was closing in on him by passing straight through it...
Metal would have been. If it hadn't collided with a yellow and pink hammer.
Amy waved to Sonic's disappearing blue streak, as she flipped from the top of the loop to follow through with a second powerful smack, launching Metal 40 feet up and away.
"Yeah, no worries, I'll just be... back here. Waiting. Not like you could have stopped to say hi." She muttered to herself. Metal clawed itself from the dirt, and glowered at her. She fixed her sullen face to something cheerful, and bounced on her toes.
"Boom! Betcha weren't expecting that, Rusty Sonic!" She taunted, and blocked the path of the loop.
Metal made to charge right past her after Sonic, but was smacked like a cricket ball out of the park.
"Hey, this is fun! Hit me again!" She chuckled.
Metal did, curled into a ball, launching shot after shot through the loop. She laughed as she swung.
With one mighty burst of speed, it nearly passed her... but ended up splatted into a tree, coconuts falling on its shiny head. Amy collapsed in laughter, and it revved in frustration.
"Awh, come on, that's funny. You have to admit? No?" She stopped laughing, and grouched a little at it, standing up dizzily.
"Y'know, Metal, you really could never be Sonic. You're missing his most important trait:"
She called the last as she lobbed Metal over the tree to bounce between two springpads.
Metal dragged its claws in the dirt to finally stop this latest tirade of bouncing scowling at her. It rushed to her side, as fast as the wind.
"Yeah, I know you're fast, but-"
Metal shoved her back by the hammer, and forced her to dig her heels in and keep from slipping too far.
"- yeah, you're strong too! But it's not that, it's-"
She suddenly stopped pushing it.
"You've got no sense of humour!" She laughed, as it shot forward at the sudden lack of pressure, flopping straight onto the ground. She then shunted Metal back out of her goal with her hammer, and snickered warmly as it lay in the dirt.
"'cause when he's laughing, he can't lose. Even when you land a hit, if he's having a good time then you haven't really beaten him. Flip it around, you're always gonna lose, 'cause you can't laugh!" She jeered a little, sticking her tongue out as it pulled itself up and tried to stomp passed her, only to be punted again.
"Oh, Metal, you should know nothing get's passed me!" She cackled.
Metal squinted at her, irritated, then whizzed around the outside of the loop.
"Awh, crap!" She squeaked, but Metal didn't run away. It tapped its foot, eyes loading something, before the smallest pink artificial tongue poked from an almost invisible slot where its mouth speakers were. Amy blinked as she realised what Metal was doing, then fell about laughing.
"Well, fairs fair; you got me!" She cackled. Metal rolled its pupils, then dashed off after Sonic.
Amy dialled Sonic when she could breathe again.
"You okay? Need a hand?"
"Nah, Metal got away. Serves you right for not saying hi!"
"Well, I didn't get too far from one misery-guts to the next: Shadow stopped me up here."
"Awh, be fair, even Metal's not that bad! I'll swing by for round two."
She hung up, still snickering to herself, and flipped on the trees with gleeful tricks.
