Sarah

Summary:

When the boys see a familiar face on a vampire hunt with Bobby Singer.

Work Text:

It started off as a normal vampire hunt, but when does anything go normally in the Winchester lives? Bobby was fighting vamps in a warehouse with the boys, this hunt was supposed to be a last hurrah, Bobby was getting old and he decided that he wouldn’t risk it and was switching to ICE and researching. The information they had received about the vamp nest was wrong, they thought that it was a small nest with half a dozen vamps, turns out there was closer to a dozen and a half, slightly challenging for the three old hunters. Bobby looked around, he was surrounded, unable to see the Winchester brothers through the circle of vamps. Holding the machete up Bobby knew he wasn't going down without a fight. Attacking the vampire in front of him Bobby lunged forward swinging the machete wide causing the vampire to back up. The vampires behind Bobby had a different idea and one was about to attack when its head suddenly detached from its body. Bobby whirled around to the new threat, but to his surprise a girl was standing there, blood dripping from the machete in her lowered hand. The pair recognized the mutual job they had come there to do and went back to back dispatching the rest of the vampires. The job was done soon enough and before long the boys made their way over to the male and female pair. Dean was wary of the girl not dropping his weapon as they neared closer.

“Who’re you?” Dean asked gruffly, glaring at the girl who popped out of nowhere in the middle of their hunt.

“Oh come on Dean don’t recognize your old pal?” the girl asked, spreading her arms out in presentation, “Although I did spend more time with Sam before being sent off.” Dawning hit Sam as he began to recognize the hair and attitude. She winked at the youngest of the boys before raising her eyebrows at the other two.

“Duck,” Bobby cried out before slashing the air where her head was 5 seconds ago. The girl at the prompt did as she was told and watched as the vampire about to kill her died from a lack of head.

“Thanks Dad,” the girl said as she rose from a crouch.

Bobby looked hard at the girl before his eyes widened, “Sarah?” the elder asked in a disbelieving tone.

“Give the man a prize,” Sarah said sarcastically before she began to leave.

“Oh no you don’t,” Bobby said, grabbing Sarah’s arm and preventing her from leaving. “Why aren’t you still at school?” Bobby asked in a no nonsense tone.

“Well I would have graduated at this point if I had stayed at that school, but I left a couple of years ago after the school got attacked,” Sarah said with a shrug not that mad about her lack of education and the other knowledge she gained afterwards.

"I thought the British Men of Letters had Europe under control?" Sam asked.

Sara just shrugged, "All I know is that vamps changed all of my teachers and I only survived with the help of a sub who happened to be a vampire hunter. He trained me to be the hunter I am today.

Bobby looked at her sadly, “This isn’t the type of life I wanted for you,” he says softly.

She gives him a sad smile, “This was my destiny dad. I would have become a hunter no matter what.”

Sam gives the pair a sympathetic smile, “We’ve got a place if you’d like to come. Completely warded and off the grid.”

Dean rolls his eyes at his brother’s ability to pick up strays, “As if we need another mouth to feed.”

Sam gives him bitch face #12 before turning back to Sarah with a smile.

She shrugs, “Don’t have anywhere else to go.”

Bobby gives her a smile, “Come on kiddo,” he says with a smile and she follows them back to the Impala.
