Chapter Text
“Sawyer, can you quit staring at my pizza like it killed your family?” Duke asked, a scowl settling on her features.
“It's pineapple pizza!” Veronica exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. “You know I don't eat pineapple pizza.” She crossed her arms and glared at Duke from across the dinner table, her lips puckered into a pout.
“So what? It's still pizza, Sawyer.” Duke rolled her eyes and sighed. Veronica gasped as if she said something incredibly offensive.
“I wanted pepperoni pizza, heather!” Veronica huffed. Duke sighed again, leaning back in her chair.
“Veronica, it's not the end of the world. We can just order another pizza with pepperoni if that's what you really want." She didn't even wait for a response before speaking again. “Let's not turn this into anything big when it's just about pizza, okay?”
Veronica's pout softened slightly but she still looked a bit hurt. “I just don't get why you're so obsessed with pineapple on pizza. It's just wrong.”
Duke chuckled, realizing that this debate had gone on way too many times before. “Look, I know it's not everyone's favorite but I genuinely like it. The combination of sweet and savory works for me.”
Veronica shook her head with a mock look of disbelief. “Fine, have your pineapple pizza. I'll order a separate pepperoni one for myself.”
Duke grinned. “Perfect. Crisis averted.”
