Cake Batter

Summary:

“Uh…what are you doing?”

“Well, considering that one of my students helped cause this mess, I feel it only makes sense for me to assist in the clean up.”

Work Text:

“What in great seven happened here?!”

Trey didn’t expect Vil to wander into Heartslabyul looking like he just stepped off set, and to say that he was embarrassed was an understatement.

The Heartslabyul kitchen was a wreck. Flour was spilt all over the floor, cake batter splattered the walls, the corpses of apples were scattered every which way, and the amount of dishes that were left uncleaned was abysmal.

Vil stepped into the kitchen cautiously, trying to avoid stepping in the baking material.

“Well, uh…” Trey smiled anxiously. “That’s kind of a long story.”

“Do tell.”

“Uh…” Trey continued packing up whatever ingredients he could. “From what I know, the freshman wanted to make a cake using the apples that Epel’s family sent over.”

“I’m sorry, did you say Epel?” Vil specified. “One of mine did this?!”

“With others!” Trey clarified, attempting to not get the Pomefiore freshman in trouble. “Ace and Deuce asked if they could use the Heartslabyul kitchen, and I said sure. Things were going well, until Grim started eating everything. Sebek was trying to get him to stop, and Jack was scolding the other, and then…things got out of hand. When I came in to check on them, the kitchen already looked like this. Grim ran off, and the others started chasing him. So…here I am.” He explained this as he was putting stuff away in the cabinets. Vil shook his head in disapproval.

“That is absolutely dreadful.” He said, looking at Trey. “Making a mess is their prerogative, but to have the gaul to leave it for YOU to clean up is totally disrespectful!”

“Don’t worry about it, Vil. Things happen.” Trey tried to calm the other down. “Uh, speaking of…what brings you here?”

“Well, I came to meet with your housewarden.” He explained, showing the other a binder of files that was meant for Riddle’s eyes. “But, I can see that there is another issue here.”

“It’s really no problem.” Trey said, now throwing dirty dishes into the sink. “If you want, you can hand the files to me, and I’ll give them to Riddle when he gets back.” He walked over to clean his hands, and he heard the click clack of Vil’s heels come closer. He looked over his shoulder and saw Vil taking off his jacket and rolling up his sleeves. “Uh…what are you doing?”

“Well, considering that one of my students helped cause this mess, I feel it only makes sense for me to assist in the clean up.” Trey’s eyes went wide as Vil looked around for some sort of apron.

“Oh, no. No! You don’t have to do that!” Trey assured, with Vil still looking for an apron.

“Of course I do! Look at this mess! It would be rude of me to not assist!” Finally finding an apron, he threw it over his neck and tied it behind his back. “Just tell me what you want me to do.”

“I don’t want you to do anything!” Vil gave Trey a look. A look that read, ‘you’re not getting rid of me’. But also, ‘I know you want my help’. Trey sighed as he looked around the kitchen, Vil waiting patiently for his order.

“….can you clean the dishes?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. Vil nodded, already grabbing a pair of rubber gloves and getting to the sink.

“Feel free to hand me whatever dishes you find.” He said, filling one side of the sink with soapy water. Trey sighed in relief.

“Thank you so much.” He said, half admitting that doing all of it himself was overwhelming. Vil smiled.

“Of course.”

“Okay, uh, I’m going to start trying to clean these floors.”

“Please do.” And the two got started cleaning the mess they called a kitchen. Vil began scrubbing at the dishes, setting them on the other side of the sink so that he knew that they were clean. Trey grabbed a broom and started sweeping up anything that was on the floor. Pieces of apples, spilt flour, probably some sugar mixed in, and whatever dirt had been tracked through. Whenever Trey found another dish, he would hand it to Vil with guilt. It was always when Vil was almost done that he would get handed more dirty dishes to clean, but he didn’t complain. Vil stuck with his promise of helping out, and the job was getting done faster with the two of them working together.

Eventually, Trey had to resort to scrubbing the floor by hand because liquids and sticky cake batter wouldn’t get swept up by the broom. Grabbing a rag from Vil, he went on his hands and knees to scrub at whatever was left from the freshman’s confection fiasco.

As he moved around the kitchen, he eventually found his way behind the Pomefiore student, scrubbing the floor behind him. He made sure to not run into him, as he was busy doing the dishes, and now, cleaning the counters.

As he was cleaning the floor, the vice housewarden noticed the model’s shoes in his peripheral. He casually glanced over, taking in the subtle elegance, and then got back to his work. He continued to scrub, but his eyes found their way over to Vil again. From the shoes, he moved up. He noticed the glimpse of skin that peaked out under his jeans and the minimal folds in the fabric as they hugged his legs comfortably. He never noticed just how long and slim Vil’s legs were, though he supposed that he was a model, and he had the physique to prove it.

He didn’t know why he continued to look up. He didn’t know what he was expecting. He knew what he was going to find attached to the beautiful pair of legs and it was a beautiful butt to match.

He was ashamed to admit that he stared a little too long. He only realized that he was staring when Vil turned to check on him and caught him staring.

He averted his gaze immediately, hoping that he turned away just in time for Vil not to notice.

“Oh my, Trey, did you just check me out?!” He chuckled with disbelief. “I didn’t take you for that kind of man!” Vil continued to laugh as Trey’s face flushed a bright red.  He tried to cover his face with his hand, to no avail.

“S-sorry! I-I really don’t know what came over me.” He genuinely apologized, averting his eyes to the floor.

“Hm…I accept.” Vil said as he finished up the dishes. “But only because I find it so humorous.”

“This is funny to you?”

“Absolutely.” He took off the gloves and set them to the side. “If you’re staring, it means you think I’m pretty. Which, I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s the fact that it was YOU that makes me laugh.” He turned around fully and leaned against the sink. “I finished by the way. Is there anything else you’d like me to help with?”

“Uh…” Trey looked around, surprised that Vil brushed off his staring at him without a care. “If you wouldn’t mind cleaning the other counters?”

“Say no more.” Vil said, grabbing a rag. He walked to the other side of the kitchen, and when Trey heard a yelp and then a thud he immediately looked up to see Vil sprawled on the floor.

“Oh my gosh! Are you okay?!” Trey went to check on him, and he was surprised to see Vil laughing.

“Ugh, yes I’m fine.” He said in between laughs. “I suppose you didn’t get this part of the floor yet, have you?” Trey looked to Vil’s feet and saw more cake batter and apples on the floor. He shook his head.

“No…I guess not.” He said, as he found himself beginning to chuckle. Vil smirked at this.

“Oh, you think this is funny?”

“Well-“ Trey cleared his throat. “I mean, no. Not at all.”

“Watch yourself, Trey. I did just find you staring at my backside. I could use that against you.” Vil smirked devilishly, while also accidently flicking cake batter onto his face. Trey couldn’t help but laugh harder. There was something about Vil looking so serious with cake batter all over his face that just made the whole ordeal that much funnier. Vil frowned as the vice housewarden laughed, but smirked as he took some of the batter and smeared it on Trey’s face.

That shut him up real fast.

It was Vil’s turn to laugh, his mischievous smile returning.

“Oh my gosh I am so sorry!” He sarcastically apologized. “I had no idea that that would happen!” Trey removed his glasses slowly. He casually wiped whatever was smeared on the lenses, put them back on, and then swiped flour into Vil’s face. The two stared at each other, squinting, before they both went into defensive mode.

The two hid behind either side of the island, occasionally peering over the corners to see when the other would attack. A few minutes passed before Vil made the first move. He threw a ball of batter over the counter, not knowing if it would hit Trey or not, but apparently it did. After a moment of victory, Trey slid over and Vil squealed as more batter was thrown at him. Vil stood up quickly, along with Trey, only for the two of them to slip and fall to the floor. They tried again, and Trey fell on top of Vil this time, the two of them laughing as they became entangled in the mess.

“Uh…” The two of the stopped laughing when they heard the noise. They looked up, well, Vil looked back, and saw the freshman standing at the edge of the kitchen with incredulous looks.

Trey was confused by the expressions at first, but then he took in the position that they were in. Vil was sprawled on his back and Trey was on top of him pining him down.

He looked up in a panic.

“Nothing happened!” He defended quickly, promptly taking himself off of Vil.

“Right…nothing YET!” Ace screamed.

“No, really! Nothing was happening!”

“Suuuuure. And you totally weren’t pining Vil to the floor.”

“IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!”

“Are you okay, Vil?!” Epel and Jack yelled at the same time. Vil chuckled, propping himself up.

“I’m wonderful.” He said. “Though I’m disappointed in ALL OF YOU for leaving Trey with this mess to clean up!”

“But we-“

“NUH UH! No buts!” Vil scolded, standing up to be the adult in the room. “I want this kitchen spotless the next time Trey’s in here. Understood?”

“Yes, sir.” Everyone said, dejected.

“Good, now go! No goofing off!” He shooed the kids away, all of them quickly getting to cleaning something as to not upset the senior. Vil huffed, hands on his hips, before turning to Trey.

“Well, that was fun.” He said. “But, I suppose, I must be going. I’m in desperate need of a shower, if you can’t tell.”

“Yeah, same.” Trey said with a chuckle. “Do you want to just use Heartslabyul’s? It’s closer than Pomefiore.”

“Why, Trey, are you suggesting what I think you’re suggesting?” Vil asked with a smirk. Trey blushed as he adjusted his glasses.

“Wha-no! I-I was just-“

“Heh, please Trey, I’m only teasing.” He said in between laughs. Trey laughed nervously.

“Heh, right, of course.” He paused, scratching his head. “So…do you?”

“Yes.”
