Comfort

Summary:

kung lao has a bad dream.

Work Text:

As Kung Lao sat by the fountain, his thoughts drifted back to his nightmare, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned to see Lord Raiden standing before him.

"Kung Lao," Lord Raiden's voice called out, concern written all over his face. "Why are you awake so early? Your training doesn't start for four more hours."

Kung Lao hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to answer. He knew that Raiden showed his care through small actions rather than words, but somehow, he felt as though Raiden already knew.

"I... i-," Kung Lao's words caught in his throat, but he quickly regained his composure. "I just wanted to enjoy the quiet night."

Raiden's hand gently placed itself on Kung Lao's cheek, and the monk felt a shiver run down his spine. "Do not lie, Kung Lao," Raiden said calmly, but with a firmness that caught Kung Lao off guard. "It... it doesn't matter," Kung Lao admitted, his words barely audible.

"It does matter," Raiden said fiercely, his voice growing more firm but still gentle. "It causes me sadness to see you like this, Kung Lao." Raiden's thumb stroked Kung Lao's cheek, and the monk couldn't help but shudder.

"I've been having these dreams... every night," Kung Lao's words came out in a rush, and he felt his throat lump up. "My neck... it gets snapped."

Raiden looked at him with concern. "I've had visions of the same thing happening, Kung Lao. But I promise you, I'll do everything I can to make sure it never happens." Raiden's words were solemn, but they brought a glimmer of hope to Kung Lao's eyes.

Kung Lao cuddled closer to the Thunder God, feeling safe and protected in his presence. "How did you know?" Kung Lao asked, a small head tilt.

"I've had visions of it happening," Raiden admitted, his voice growing more grim. "But I promise you, Kung Lao, I'll do everything in my power to make sure it never happens." Raiden's words were solemn, and he cupped Kung Lao's face in his hands, caressing his cheeks.

Kung Lao leaned in, his lips meeting Raiden's, and the two began to kiss. The kiss lasted for ten seconds, and then the two pulled away from each other. Kung Lao's face was bright red, and he couldn't even form words.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe-" Kung Lao managed to say, but was cut off by Raiden's lips pressing again against his. This time, the kiss lasted for a few more seconds before the two pulled away from each other again.

"Kung Lao," Raiden's voice was soft and full of care. "I'll make sure you'll know nothing but happiness." Raiden stroked Kung Lao's cheek with his thumb, and the monk felt a soothing sensation run through him.

The two stayed close for what seemed like hours, but Kung Lao knew that they would have to get up eventually. The temple bells began to ring, signaling that training would begin soon.

"I'll see you later," Kung Lao said, kissing Raiden's cheek before leaving. As he walked away, he couldn't help but smile, knowing that he had found someone who truly cared for him. He felt a sense of hope and peace that he had never felt before.

And as he walked away, he knew that everything would be alright with Raiden by his side.
