Bang!
The sound of a gun going off shocks the crowd into silence.
Fighting halts as the heroes begin to look between each other frantically. There are no obvious casualties, so they assume as one that whoever fired the shot had bad aim and simply missed their target. They couldn’t think for long, since even if the gunshot startled the villains too, they recovered quickly and were back on the offensive.
The small crowd of civilians currently cheering off to the side pay little attention to what they can’t see, and so the heroes jumping back into action sways them back into the battle.
Gun still warm in his hand, the man who shot at the invisible hero doesn’t look in her direction for long before running off. He’s pretty sure that the bullet hit, so his job is done here.
The fight goes on, and no one notices Hagakure’s presence missing until the end, when the villains are in handcuffs and waiting to be taken away. The heroes all gather together to discuss the fight, including the hero responsible for the student’s safety.
They find her surrounded by a puddle of blood. Her heart is hardly beating, but she’s still alive.
It’s a rush to get her to an ambulance so they can check for a heartbeat, hurrying people out of the way so she can be put in the ambulance and taken to the nearest hospital.
By the time the ambulance gets there, she’s only just been deemed still breathing. Hagakure is unconscious, the blood-soaked gloves of her hero costume lying limply by her sides. It’s a struggle to keep pressure on a wound they can’t see, but the paramedics do their best.
She’s put into the intensive care unit, with all sorts of medical equipment being hooked up as they try to figure out just how bad the damage is and how they can stop it.
Aizawa is called, and he arrives furious. With his hair levitating off his shoulders like some kind of eldritch horror, nurses are quick to try and calm him down.
Once the bleeding slows down they examine her under an x-ray. It’s discovered that the bullet just barely clipped her lung, lodging itself against one of the ribs right next to her spine. Miraculously, there’s no major damage past the bleeding.
Hagakure wakes up a few hours later, and is released from the hospital after several days of observation.
Her classmates are glad to see her alive, even if she can’t join in on heroics training for a while. Plus, she gets to keep the bullet, since they never actually removed it since it wasn’t necessary.
Past a few complications with metal detectors — and her mentor having their licence suspended — Hagakure gets to keep on living her life.
Aizawa yells at the support company responsible for her costume, so she gets a new bodysuit for when she can restart training!
She can’t say that she ever wants to get shot again though.
