Work Text:

August 30th, 10:00pm

Jungkook often wonders why he was born. Yes, it’s inherently a heavy question. But for the life he’s had I guess it’s warranted. He had no family. No real friends. He worked hard but was never appreciated and was regarded as weak even though he’d likely be able to break some bones if he really got mad. “Yo! Look at how large the moon is!” he heard someone say so he moved to check it out. He’d heard about some Super Blue Moon or something. But it was always something or the other with the Moon, blood moon, harvest moon, etc etc. Now as he looked up he noticed the moon actually did look pretty large compared to normal even though it didn’t really look blue. Jungkook had always loved the moon. When sad he’d look at the moon and smile. He knew he was a bonafide selenophile so now too he smiled as he saw the moon. Beside him two young girls were giggling and gossiping. He didn’t mean to eavesdrop but he heard,

“You know if you wish on the blue moon it will come true!”

“Nonsense no one says that.”

“Hehe maybe but there has to be some stock in the saying ‘ once every blue moon ’ with this literally being the blue moon maybe wishes do come true.”

Jungkook smiled at that logic. Thinking how silly it was. Weren’t wishes placed on stars? Jungkook continued looking at the moon, thinking about wishes and it struck him that his birthday was in a couple days. He’d barely been celebrating it. Knowing him he wouldn’t remember till like a week after so feeling utterly ridiculous he looked at the moon, smiling at it before he said, “Well I don’t really believe in wishes and not a single wish I’ve placed on a star has ever come true so what gives? Let me wish on you for my birthday.” before he giggled to himself, covering his ears that were burning in embarrassment. However he then cleared his throat and said,

Moon so beautiful. Moon so bright. The only moon I'll ever see in my life...I wish I may, I wish I might…my little wish comes true in my life…”

He sighed then before closing his eyes and joining his hands thinking about what he wanted to wish for. Getting sadder as he realized he really didn’t know. Money? Food? Games? Sure they’ll make life easier but will that make him happy? He sighed then but looked at the moon again before he snickered. It’s not like any of this would come true so Jungkook said, “I wish to leave Earth & to live on the Moon.” before he shrugged his shoulders feeling like a fool, looking at the moon one last time and walked away.

August 31st, 11:57pm

Jungkook was exhausted. Today was a shit day at work. He was a minute away from quitting but then it was time to clock out. Maybe he’d quit tomorrow. Now as he looked about the sauna he was spending the night at he groaned wondering why he was struggling? As is everything he earned went to pay for a roof over his head & food. Honestly if he disappeared tomorrow who would really mind? “Go to sleep idiot!” he told himself as he saw the clock read 11:59pm.

1st September, 12:04pm

Jungkook only woke up because his back hurt. He didn’t open his eyes, just shifted wondering why did the sauna floor feel so soft? Then he noticed how quiet it was, usually it would be so loud with people milling about and the sound of showers and plates being dropped around the sauna. Then Jungkook asked himself…why was he still sleeping? He needed to go to work! He got up with a start and then froze. Everything around him was white. Like pristine freshly fallen snow. Was he sleeping on a cloud? He looked down his bed and saw more white.

What is going on?

“I’m dreaming…this is a dream…go back to sleep!” Jungkook chanted as he shoved his head into the pillows and covered his face with a blanket or clouds he wasn’t sure. Still he tried to sleep, shutting his eyes tight but then he heard someone clear their throat. He peered from under what he presumed was a blanket to find a cat-like man at the foot of the bed. “Hello?” Jungkook croaked as the man’s brows disappeared into his hairline. “Hello.” the cat-like man said. “Who are you?” Jungkook asked. “Min Yoongi. Royal butler.” the cat-like man said as Jungkook blinked at him, processing that information. “Royal butler…of who? What royal family?” Jungkook muttered. “Of the Moon.” Yoongi said as Jungkook stiffened before looking at Yoongi.

“Of the what now?”

Yoongi huffed but said, “Of the moon.” Jungkook looked at him like he’d spoken in a foreign language. “This can’t be happening. This is a dream. Or maybe a nightmare! Goodbye cat butler man. Good night!” Jungkook said, nestling back into the sheets only to find himself rudely pulled off the bed. “You can’t sleep. You have to get ready.” the cat-like man said before adding, “And my name is Yoongi.”

“Yoongi-ssi…get ready for what?” Jungkook wondered as he was shoved into what seemed like a washroom. “Go on get undressed, I need to make you look presentable.” Yoongi said as he pulled on a couple towels. “You need to…what? No thank you! I can bathe myself!” Jungkook said holding on tight to his shorts which was actually the only thing he was wearing. Yoongi sighed a very very very weary sigh before he showed Jungkook how the taps worked and where the soap and toiletries were before showing him his clothes which were thankfully a normal white shirt & black pants.

When he came out, dressed with wet hair, Yoongi clicked his tongue but then had him sit in front of the mirror, styling his shaggy curly hair. It seemed like Yoongi was considering cutting Jungkook’s hair, eyeing the scissors on the table. “You cut my hair & I may hurt you.” Jungkook said as a warning. Yoongi rolled his eyes instead and then presented Jungkook with beautiful black shoes and a black coat. It was sparkly. Jungkook really liked it. “Follow me!” Yoongi said then leading Jungkook to who knows where and Jungkook didn’t have another option but to follow.

The corridor looked like the insides of a palace. With tall ceilings and lovely architecture. There was a window right up top that Jungkook tried looking out of. For a second he thought he saw Earth you know like how you see it on Discovery? But he shook his head. This was all a protracted dream. Some weird simulation. He’d wake up soon enough and be in that sauna again. Thinking so, he shook his head harder before following Yoongi into a room that left him stunned.

There were three long tables. Very long tables. Full of food. Then right in the middle of one of the tables was a cake, a three tiered cake, Jungkook had never seen such a fancy cake before. As he looked around to understand what was going on a loud voice boomed, scaring him, “Ah Jeon Jungkook!” He heard seeing a tall man with a robust build and dimples when he smiled walk up to him. But then he stopped, “Oh my! You’re actually rather handsome!” Jungkook didn’t know if he should be offended or not. “Oh I apologize for my brother's forwardness. We really didn’t know what to expect.” another man said joining the tall guy. This new man had a boxy smile. “I’m sorry. But who are you?” Jungkook asked. “The tall dimpled guy said, “I’m Kim Namjoon. I am the King of the Moon.” Jungkook blinked looking at Namjoon and then looked at Taehyung who said, “I’m Kim Taehyung, his brother. The prince of the Moon”

“What is going on?” Jungkook managed to say before everything spun he almost fell on his ass but then Yoongi was right behind him with a chair. “I know…this is all very odd but please let me explain.” Namjoon said as he and Taehyung got a couple chairs too.

“So you are on the Moon.” Namjoon declared as Jungkook looked at him. “The actual moon? The thing in the sky that controls the tides?” Jungkook asked. “On Earth? Yes.” Taehyung said. “How am I breathing then?” Jungkook wondered. “Well you’re special.” Namjoon added. “What makes me so special?” Jungkook asked, very confused because everything sounded like a joke. But Jungkook then literally fell off his chair when the two said the same thing at the same time, “Our little brother is in love with you.”

“Who? Who is your brother?” Jungkook asked. “Um…he’s our youngest. A bit naive but very sweet.” Taehyung said, smiling awkwardly. “Hold on. So some random being in the universe fell in love with me and decided to kidnap me?” Jungkook asked. “He’s not ‘random’. He’s the beloved younger prince of the Moon. Also this is according to your wishes.” Taehyung said a bit miffed. “My wish? When did I wish for love? When did I…” Jungkook started only to stop when it all came rushing back. The wish he made on the blue moon. “Oh…” he said as he looked at the princes. “You understand why this is all very weird to me right?” Jungkook inquired. “Trust me we get it but um…just meet our brother once. He seems very taken by you.” Namjoon said as Jungkook blinked at them.

“So he’s in there? Should I bow? Curtsy? What should I do?” Jungkook asked Yoongi as they walked to the prince’s study. “Just don’t be awkward.” Yoongi said, opening the door and shoving Jungkook inside making Jungkook turn around to scowl at him but that only got him a door to his face. He’d have to deal with this Yoongi character later. It seemed like he had a shoving issue. “Sorry he’s a bit rough. He’s not really a butler.” Jungkook heard a sweet voice say. He turned around, head bowed only to see white sparkly shoes. Jungkook moved his head up slowly, finding long legs with a soft flare in the hips, a tiny waist, lean torso, slender arms with dainty fingers, a long neck and broad shoulders. Then he looked at the prince's face and Jungkook’s heart stuttered.

If he didn’t believe he wasn’t on Earth before he’d believe it now. Because this man was just out of the world handsome. Which Jungkook guessed made sense in this context. He’d never seen anyone be as beautiful as this man. He had the most fair complexion with rosy cheeks and plump lips. He had a regal nose fit for a king and beautifully shaped eyebrows. He had beautiful black hair that covered a rather attractive forehead. But what caught Jungkook’s attention were his eyes. Deep brown pools of innocence that were blinking at him, pupils a little dilated. Then Jungkook noticed his very red ears. “You’re pretty.” the prince said as Jungkook felt his own ears heating up. He did some kind of curtsy as he’d seen in those royal shows on TV before he said, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, your highness.” That earned him a giggle that made his heart warm before he heard something rattling. When he looked up the prince was standing with his hand extended. A white box was in his palm and Jungkook looked at that and then back at the prince. “For you.” the prince said as Jungkook hesitated. “I…um…” he tried but the prince nodded his head towards the box, making Jungkook step ahead and take it. “It’s your present. For your birthday. Happy birthday!” the prince said as Jungkook realized that it was indeed his birthday. Is that why his “wish” came true?

Jungkook bowed with a thank you, feeling overwhelmed at receiving an actual gift, before he opened the box, seeing a pair of lovely shiny moon earrings. “This is lovely, your highness but…um...I can’t accept this.” Jungkook said, watching in absolute horror as Seokjin's bottom lip wobbled. “Nevermind I’ll take it! It’s beautiful! Thank you!!” Jungkook said quickly, getting a watery laugh instead. “My name is Kim Seokjin. Please call me Seokjin.” the prince said as Jungkook choked a bit. “I’m Jungkook.” he said as Seokjin seemed to blush harder. “Hmm...I know...I can’t wait to marry you!”

And just like that Mr. Rabbit looking Jungkook had fainted.

“Calm down Seokjinah! He’s okay! Relax please. Come with me, let's go to Neptune for a bit!” Jungkook heard as he kept his eyes closed. He could hear sniffling and really wanted to comfort Seokjin but he needed some time away from his big beautiful eyes to catch his bearings. “But the party!?” he heard Seokjin ask, “He’ll be awake for that! I’ll make sure of it.” Jungkook heard who he assumed was Yoongi say. There was rustling and shuffling then and Jungkook felt the lightest touch of lips on his forehead after which it quickly disappeared followed by the door closing.

“I know you’re awake.” Jungkook heard next as he frowned. Opening his eyes to see Yoongi sitting on a chair peering at him. “Why are you here?” he groused sitting up. “Well as you heard I promised Seokjinah I’d have you awake for the party.” Yoongi said. “What party? Jungkook asked. “Your birthday party.” Yoongi said, picking on some lint he had on his knee. “And…?” Jungkook asked, in turn peering at Yoongi who scowled at him but said, “It was supposed to be your wedding too!”

“Yoongi-ssi. I’m so confused.” Jungkook said and Yoongi actually felt bad for him so he walked to the bed and sat across from Jungkook. Yawning wide before he said, “Let me tell you a story…”

Seokjin was born on Earth. Yes, Earth. He was the result of a union of a mobster with a lounge singer who was known for her beauty. However, that story was bound to be tragic. The mobster was betrayed and killed. The lounge singer gave birth to Seokjin shortly after and immediately had to run. She had no choice so on a full moon night she looked up at the moon and wished for her son to be safe before leaving him on the steps of an orphanage. It’s believed the then Queen of the Moon had suffered the loss of a child and was in mourning when this wish reached her ears. She peered down on Earth, saw Seokjin’s angelic face and fell in love instantly. Just like Jungkook the next minute Seokjin was in her arms, his wails subsiding when he touched the Queen’s face. The then King, Namjoon and Taehyung’s father, was furious. You don’t just kidnap humans like that but the queen begged and begged. It’s believed the king was utterly besotted with his queen and so he accepted the child as his. Bestowing him with some powers. Making his son's promise never to let anything bad happen to Seokjin.

“So are they dead?” Jungkook asked. Yoongi clicked his tongue on being interrupted. “No, they retired. They go touring to all the planets and different universes as per their fancy. You know, retired life.” Yoongi said as Jungkook shook his head. “Then what happened?” Jungkook wondered.

Seokjin grew up to be outrageously handsome and very shy. He knew of the origin of his birth thanks to some mean palace lady who would taunt him so he always was humble, being very gracious for everything he was given. When asked if he wanted or needed something he never asked for anything luxurious, just basic requirements. That didn’t stop the King, Queen, Namjoon and Taehyung from doting on him. Making sure to pamper him and always let him now that he was loved.

“A humble prince…that's a first.” Jungkook said, not meaning to be offensive but Yoongi narrowed his eyes before saying, “Also very protected and loved. So I'd be careful about loose comments. They’re never taken lightly.” Jungkook gulped before defending himself saying, “I’ve never met royals before. On Earth they’re depicted as snobby and obnoxious. He does seem humble but you know I didn’t mean no offense!” Yoongi rolled his eyes but conceded before saying, “Well I get it. But um...that humility is why you’re here.” Now Jungkook narrowed his eyes. “What does that mean?”

Turns out on the night of the super blue moon Seokjin was standing on the Arc of the Moon closest to Earth because there was a street festival where everyone was celebrating because sure Jungkook couldn’t see the moon being blue but those on the moon watched the moon dust change color and were dancing around in it. It was there that he heard Jungkook’s voice. The depth and timbre of which drew him in. Sure time and again he’d heard people wish for money and power and riches and to win the lottery but when Jungkook uttered his wish Seokjin was very intrigued. He then had teleported to the special observatory and located the source of that voice and saw Jungkook looking up. “It was love at first sight.” Yoongi said. “Okay…” Jungkook said blushing lightly but then cleared his throat “But you said something about humility being the reason I’m here. What’s that about?” Jungkook asked. Yoongi sighed again.

Turns out the Seokjin who never asked or demanded anything in the past begged his brother Namjoon and Taehyung to bring Jungkook to the Moon. “But Joonie hyung he said he wants to live here!” Seokjin whined. “It’s just a wish Seokjinah! It means nothing!” Taehyung had tried but then Seokjin had said, “But he;s a good person and he means it.” As a tear slid down his cheek and Namjoon couldn’t bear that. “They vetted you in one day and made it a point to get you here on your birthday. Right at 12am, Earth time. And now because Seokjin wants you you can never leave because you leaving would make him sad…” Yoongi said but Jungkook continued, “And the King will not let him be sad…” Yoongi nodded his head saying, “Exactly…'' Jungkook then furrowed his brow, “Hold up! What do you mean by vetted?” Yoongi smiled at that, “Well the King had abilities and also a court that is blessed with magic. He had people pull up your history and your story. Gotta say it was a pretty sad one.” Yoongi said, making a face as Jungkook scowled at him. Sure that was the truth but who likes to hear that?

“So now I'm stuck here.” Jungkook stated deflating. “I mean you could tell Seokjinnie you don’t want to be here and then break his heart and then Namjoonie will send you back. Maybe to Earth, maybe to Mars or what is it you humans believe in…that very hot place…ah yes…Hell…” Yoongi said, smiling a wide gummy smile. “How manipulative!!? Also Namjoonie? How disrespectful!?” Jungkook said, placing his hand on his chest dramatically. “Not for me. I can call my husband however I want.” Yoongi said, making Jungkook look at him with his mouth open.

Then Jungkook remembered the comment from Seokjin about Yoongi “...not being a real butler.” Jungkook pulled a pillow, hugging it while sitting up and looking at Yoongi expectantly, “Explain.”

Yoongi was a butler. He was assigned as Namjoon’s butler. However they were also the best of friends. Over the years as they grew older, friendship turned into love but with Namjoon being the King Yoongi knew better than to hope so one night he left and went to the Sun seeking employment in the palace. That’s where he met the future King of the Sun, Jung Hoseok. “Let me guess…he fell in love with you?” Jungkook asked as he narrowed his eyes at Yoongi. “How did that happen? How are you lovable?” he muttered only to have a pillow chucked at his head. “I’m plenty lovable okay!? I’m just doubtful about you because you’re human & I really don’t want to see Seokjinnie hurt.” Yoongi said as Jungkook sat up straight. “I...I won’t hurt him.” Jungkook said with such sincerity that Yoongi looked at him pensively before Jungkook asked, “Then what happened? Did Namjoon-ssi come looking for you? Was there a war between the Sun and the Moon?” Yoongi clicked his tongue, “Well Namjoonie did show up but then he met Hoba and then they fell in love. Then we three got married.” Jungkook’s mouth fell open again. “So y’all three are like a throuple?” he asked and Yoongi shrugged his shoulders nodding his head. “Huh…cool…and the middle Kim? Is he also with someone?” Jungkook asked. “Yes he fell in love with Hoba’s brother Jimin. They’re married too.” Yoongi confirmed.

“So is marriage considered sacred here?” Jungkook asked, seeing how Yoongi had been emphasizing on the marriages so far. “Um isn’t marriage sacred where you come from?” Yoongi asked. “Well it’s…um…the definition has changed.” Jungkook said chewing on his lip. “Here marriage is the highest form of love. It’s a promise to be with someone forever and ever.” Yoongi said with a soft smile. “Wait forever and ever? Why? Don’t you die?” Jungkook wondered. “Well it’s not like human death. Here you can live forever and then make a choice to disintegrate if you really want to.” Yoongi explained. “Wow. Okay. So I'm eternal?” Jungkook wondered. “Well…not if you don’t marry Seokjinnie.” Yoongi said as Jungkook’s shoulder slumped.

Just then there was knocking on the door after which it flew open. Seokjin came barrelling in and just as quickly barreled into Jungkook. Resulting in him lying flat on his back while Seokjin held him tight sobbing in his neck. “You’re awake! You’re okay!” he kept saying as Jungkook struggled to make a decision whether he should hold him or not. He wasn’t sure if he was allowed to touch the prince. From the door he noticed how a new person with a very soft cherubic face was looking at him. Yoongi then got up and looked at Jungkook saying, “Remember what you said earlier.” before he left.

Jungkook finally wrapped his arms around Seokjin. Realizing the prince was trembling. “Are you cold?” he asked and got a “Hmm…” in response but then Seokjin added, “But you’re warm.” as he nuzzled in closer. “I was so worried for you. Don’t do that again please.” Seokjin whispered and Jungkook held him tighter.

“Seokjin-ssi…”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Seokjinnie?”

“Hmmmm?”

“Seokjinnie, please don’t be upset.” Jungkook started but then Seokjin already had begun crying, Jungkook knew because he felt a wet patch form on his shoulder. “Wait, let me speak first and then you can react okay?” Jungkook asked as he shuffled to the headboard taking Seokjin along, looking down to find big doe eyes peering up at him, face still hidden in his chest.

Well here goes nothing.

“On Earth…um…we don’t just fall in love.” Jungkook said as he saw curiocity build in those big eyes. “Then?” Seokjin asked.

Jungkook had to think for a minute, because what is he saying? So he amended, “Well actually we do fall in love but it’s not instant.” he watched as confusion built in Seokjin’s eyes. “Oh…” he said.

Jungkook again had to stop himself because…What. Is. He. Saying? “Actually that's not right either. On Earth…um…there's attraction that plays a role and some people fall in love in an instant. Some take some time to get to know each other first and others realize attraction is just temporary and move on. You get what I'm saying?” he asked, himself a bit confused but then he noticed the neutral expression on Seokjin’s face. Who gave him a small smile that didn’t reach his eyes before climbing down his lap and then off the bed entirely making Jungkook follow him only for Seokjin to deliberately maintain a distance between them that Jungkook didn’t like, he realized. “Talk to me Seokjinnie. What did you understand?” Jungkook asked.

Seokjin sighed looking at the carpet and then very devastatingly said, “That you’re not attracted to me and don’t love me and that you want to go back. I’m sorry I brought you here. I’ll go tell Joonie hyung to send you back.” Seokjin said turning around but Jungkook ran ahead back hugging him and holding him tight. “That’s not…how can I not be attracted to you?? Have you seen yourself?” he asked as they both looked up at the mirror on the dressing table. Seokjin pouted at Jungkook through the mirror. “So you are attracted to me?” he asked and Jungkook nodded his head watching a smile begin to bloom but he quickly said, “But it’s not just about attraction Seokjinnie…it’s also about getting to know a person. What if you find out you don’t like something about me?” Jungkook asked. “What if you don’t like something about me?” Seokjin asked him. “I doubt that.” Jungkook said as Seokjin tilted his head before he said. “What if I snore?” But Seokjin shrugged his shoulders, “Joonie hyung snores...I can deal with that.” Jungkook huffed but then added, “What if I’m horrible at games?” Seokjin smiled at him before saying, “Then I'll teach you.” Jungkook looked at Seokjin exasperated. “What if I have a very bad temper and say mean things to you?” Seokjin looked at him with pride and said, “You won’t…you’re a good person.”

Now Jungkook was confused. “How do you know that? Because Namjoon-ssi did his research?” Jungkook asked. “No. I just know.” Seokjin said before he pushed away from Jungkook, worrying his lip before he said. “But I also know it’s not fair to force feelings on you Jungkook-ssi. I’m beginning to wonder if maybe I made a mistake. You are a nice person but maybe this isn’t our story.” Seokjin said looking up with a sad smile before he left Jungkook with a piercing sensation in his heart when he asked, “May we still celebrate your birthday? I really wanted you to have a party.” Jungkook rushed ahead engulfing Seokjin in a hug. He’d known him for what 4 hours? But he couldn’t stand to see Seokjin upset. Jungkook very distinctly understood what Namjoon and Taehyung’s predicament was like. “Seokjinnie. I’m very attracted to you and I really want to kiss you right now but I also want to be responsible. I don't want to go back. I really don’t think I'll ever be happy without you but how about six months? Hmm? Lets get to know each other for six months and then we’ll go from there?” Jungkook suggested. Seokjin smiled at him. Nodding his head before he heard a knock on the door followed by the guy from earlier opening it. “Hi. Jungkook.” Jungkook said, bowing to the stranger and making Seokjin bow too because he hadn’t let go of him yet. “Jimin, nice to meet you.” Jimin said before saying, “We have some final changes to make Seokjinah come along.”

Seokjin wriggled out of Jungkook's hold and took two steps ahead but then he turned around quickly, going up to Jungkook and whispering in his ear, “I really want to kiss you too!” before he pecked a stunned Jungkook’s lips and scampered away squealing loud and high pitched in excitement. Jimin laughed at Jungkook’s shocked face, watching as Jungkook raised his hand to touch his lips. “The former King bestowed him with a special gift because he was worried people would try to harm or take advantage of him.” Jimin said as Jungkook raised a brow quizzically. “He can see a person’s true intention. In your case he says you have a heart of gold.” Jimin said walking away leaving Jungkook blushing in his wake.

Yoongi came to get Jungkook for the party. Helping him dress into an even finer suit. Styling his hair in a way that it exposed his forehead. Making him look oh so dapper. When he entered the room Jungkook noticed how there were other people milling about who all paused on looking at him. Then he saw Seokjin who looked ethereal in a complementary suit as Jungkook’s whose eyes lit up on seeing him. They got even brighter when Seokjin noticed the moon earrings Jungkook wore. He came running to Jungkook holding his hand. It was then that Jungkook noticed Seokjin had matching moon earrings too, that he had worn tonight. Then another loud voice scared Jungkook. “Oh my goodness, he’s actually good looking!” Jungkook heard turning to see a man who was the human embodiment of the Sun. Jungkook didn’t need an introduction. This was the King of the Sun, Jung Hoseok. “I heard the wedding is canceled.” Hoseok said, sobering up, glaring lightly at Jungkook. “It’s postponed.” Jungkook corrected as Seokjin wiggled beside him. “Hmm…humans and their complications. Now now run along, can't hold up the party now can we?” Hoseok asked and soon Jungkook was standing by the cake, looking at it in awe. Looking around at the party in his honor. Sure he didn’t know anyone and  everything was beyond belief but honestly who cared?

“Make a wish.” Jungkook heard Seokjin say as everyone clapped for him. He closed his eyes and wished for the one thing that would matter to him the most in the future.

4th December, 7:00pm

After the party was done and Jungkook had the best day ever he had fallen asleep as Yoongi played on the moon piano and Seokjin sang a song. The next day he was taken on tour to see the Moon and as expected it took him sometime to really wrap his head around the fact that this was all real. He, a mere human, was living on the moon with the Moon’s folk. Soon he learnt more about the royal family. Focusing on Seokjin who he realized was truly very smart though shy. He was also kind and sweet. Everything that Yoongi had said was indeed very true. Jungkook couldn’t help but think someone like Seokjin would be devoured by the ill intentioned folks on Earth and that made him very protective of Seokjin. Jungkook never left Seokjin’s side on the pretext of learning more about the Moon. Not like he didn’t because Seokjin was very knowledgeable. Soon Jungkook was also confronted by another truth which was that he couldn’t resist but fall in love with Seokjin. It was the little things. The way Seokjin held Jungkook’s hand, the way he played with his hair, the quiet evenings where they would sit together and watch the stars. It was in the way Seokjin helped the Moon’s folk in the village. Making flower crowns for the kids. Taking food for the elderly. It was in the way how for once Jungkook felt needed, wanted, loved. He ended up blurting a confession a month after his birthday. Unable to let Seokjin stay away from him since the only time they stayed away was when they slept. Their first kiss - proper kiss - was a week later in the middle of the biggest crater of the Moon surrounded by shiny moon rocks. The first time they made love was a revelation to Jungkook because he knew at that moment he had never felt more fulfilled before. Hearing Seokjin’s whines and whimpers only made him more endeared, wanting to have Seokjin under him, protected, loved and satisfied forever.

So now here he was four months later, proposing on Seokjin’s birthday. On one knee in the middle of the palace gardens.

“Will you marry me?”

“No.”

Jungkook held his chest gasping dramatically. “Pray tell why my prince?” he asked as Seokjin giggled before sobering up.

“Well because I love another!” Seokjin said just as dramatically, turning his back while having the happiest smile on his face.

“Well I guess then I have to tell Joon hyung to send me back.” Jungkook said only to have the wind knocked out of him by Seokjin who leapt into his arms.

“Don’t you dare!” he said glaring at Jungkook before he slithered the ring, which was his mothers, over his finger. Surging ahead and kissing Jungkook deep, pulling back to say, “Yes. Yes, I will marry you.”

Jungkook had tears in his eyes, scaring Seokjin but before Seokjin could move, Jungkook flipped positions so that he could nuzzle into Seokjin’s neck. “My birthday wish came true again.” he said as Seokjin pointed out confused, “But it already had!” Jungkook clicked his tongue. “I’m talking about the one I made over my birthday candles. I’d asked for you to say yes when I proposed. Thank you for loving me. I love you so much.” He said caging Seokjin and kissing him everywhere he could, making him giggle and say, “I love you too yeobo!”

They were married on the 4th of June. It was a grand affair. Royal families from all the other planets showed up. Hoseok was the officiant. Yoongi was Jungkook’s best man. Jimin was Seokjin’s and Namjoon and Taehyung walked him down the aisle. The royal parents also showed up and they seemed impressed by Jungkook’s sincerity. The king bestowed Jungkook with eternal life as he had Seokjin and also gave him the other gifts like teleportation and the ability to hear wishes with an added bonus of always finding a way to locate Seokjin just to know that he’s safe. Something that Jungkook was grateful for.

That night Jungkook made Seokjin see stars - literally - as he worshiped him and showed his gratitude in multiple positions. He made Seokjin feel cherished and loved and didn’t stop till they both were too exhausted to move. Saying thank you and chanting “I love you’s” Jungkook couldn’t help but reminisce that all of this was because he chanced to wish on the Moon.

The Moon. Something he’d been in love with for so long. It made him smile to think now he held his moon in his arms.

It’s been centuries since then. In human years both Jungkook and Seokjin would be in their 700’s. But they looked the same as they did on their wedding day. Both immortalized in youth and beauty. Love making them glow in happiness.

1st September 09:01pm; Year on Earth 2023

Right now Jungkook stands on the Arc of the Moon closest to the Earth. Listening to all the random silly wishes coming through. But he hears one wish that makes him teleport to the observatory. As he contemplates his next move he feels his husband's arms wrap around his waist. “I thought you were exhausted from your birthday party! What’s got your attention yeobo?” Seokjin asked. “There's this boy, baby. I should say man. He reminds me of me. Seems like we share birthdays. He made a wish to be with the love of his life.” Jungkook said as Seokjin wiggled to his front looking up at him with big eyes. Jungkook couldn’t resist kissing his lips. Seokjin blushed but then asked, “He made that wish to the Moon?” Jungkook huffed a laugh before he said, “I think he’s wishing on every celestial being.” Seokjin felt a bit bad for this man, “Can we make his wish come true?” he asked but Jungkook shook his head in the negative. “No…not without unsavory consequences. You know we can’t just do things like before right?” Jungkook scolded lightly as Seokjin pouted into his chest.

“Wait, let me look at him.” Seokjin said, running to check on the man, tearing up on seeing his anguish. “He does remind me of you. Oh I can’t see lovers in pain.” Seokjin said, clinging onto Jungkook who held him tight. “Where is the love of his life?” Seokjin asked. “Currently in the military. Funny I checked on him too. He reminds me of you.” Jungkook said as Seokjin ran to check too. “Oh my! He does!” he gasped but then got sad again. “So nothing? We can’t do anything?” he asked. “No. we can’t but they will reunite in June of 2025. I can tell you that much.” Jungkook said as Seokjin jumped for joy, quickly pecking his husband, “And then nothing will ever separate them?” he wondered. “Nope.” Jungkook confirmed. “Oh wait…June 11th 2025 is a full moon isn’t it? Oh we’ll watch over them that day!” Seokjin said excitedly counting the full moons on his hand.

Jungkook couldn’t help but be endeared, picking up his beloved and kissing him silly before taking him back to their bedchambers at their palace. Where Jungkook realized he had a birthday surprise that left him shocked and extremely sated. Still as they lay panting Seokjin asked, “So they will live happily ever after?” referring to the couple on Earth. Jungkook held him tighter, kissing his forehead as he said, “Yes. Like us, they will live happily ever after.”
